Chapter 118 - Personal

Katarina sat at her desk with the seal in front of her.

It wasn't the real seal, of course. But still, Vessa had described it in pretty decent detail and Katarina recreated it. 

So, Samara was the crack. Kat had decided that the day the thief walked out of the Talori workshop with a warning instead of a knife. A bought blade with a conscience was a lever, and the paper that owned her family was where to push. So Kat had sent Vessa to copy the seal. If the indenture had a flaw, she wanted to find it first.

Kat leaned in. She'd been angry since yesterday. The CEO part of her brain kept telling her anger would make her sloppy, but the rest of her kept telling that part to shut up.

The door opened. Vessa came in without knocking and flopped onto the edge of the desk. 

"You've been glaring at that thing since I walked in," Vessa said. "Last time I walked in, I mean. It's a piece of paper. It can't even glare back."
