Zi Han never expected there to be a queue.
The convenience store near the east gate was usually quiet at this hour, but today it was packed with students rushing in during the break between periods, grabbing drinks and snacks before the next class. The line at the counter stretched back almost to the refrigerator section.
Zi Han grabbed a vanilla cheesecake for herself and a bottle of water, then turned back to the shelves, scanning quickly. She needed to get snacks for Ming Ye, snacks that would aid his healing.
She picked up a small carton of orange juice, high in vitamin C, then added a packet of mixed nuts and a bar of dark chocolate, both good for inflammation and iron. She hesitated, then grabbed a small container of honey yogurt as well. The antimicrobial properties of honey were going to help.
She joined the queue.
There were about 7 people ahead of her, and it moved really slowly.
She watched the clock on her phone.
Three minutes passed.
Then four.
