Li Wan watched Ming Ye carefully for a moment before speaking again, her tone softer now, almost cautious.
"Xiao Ye… do you really hate me that much?"
Ming Ye didn't answer.
He leaned back slightly in his seat, his gaze turned toward the window as the city lights slid past in blurred streaks.
Li Wan's fingers tightened faintly over her handbag.
"Well," she said after a pause, forcing a small smile, "since you agreed to meet me, it means I still have a chance, doesn't it?"
That made him let out a quiet, humorless chuckle.
"You're overthinking it," he said, his voice cool. "I only came because you said you had proof."
His gaze finally shifted back to her coldly.
"Proof that Ming Chen stopped you from seeing me."
Li Wan exhaled slowly, as though she had expected that answer.
"I do," she said. "And once you see it… I hope you'll understand. Maybe even forgive me."
Ming Ye's lips curved, but there was no warmth in it.
"We'll see."
The car slowed to a stop shortly after.
