Chapter 44 - Clash of the Titans

The day after Draven's fight against Tavros began with a different atmosphere at the academy. The courtyard was quieter than usual. Many students were still whispering about Draven's unique energy, but no one approached him directly. Everyone seemed to sense that something bigger was about to happen.

Draven walked with firm steps, keeping his eyes alert to every movement around him. He didn't need to be on the lookout for attacks—not here—but his perception picked up every detail of the environment. The air was tense, as if each breath of wind heralded what was to come.

Suddenly, heavy footsteps echoed through the courtyard. Draven looked up and saw Kaedor approaching. The lion-man advanced calmly, each step calculated, conveying absolute confidence. His muscles moved precisely, and his golden mane swayed gently with each step. He stopped a few meters from Draven, crossing his arms.

The silence between them was almost tangible. Students passing through the courtyard slowed down, curious, but instinctively kept their distance. Both knew this wouldn't be a trivial conversation.

"You've stood out too much, Draven," Kaedor began, his voice firm, yet without hostility. "Not just physically… but with your energy. This way of manipulating shadows… the Nocteerom. It's not something I've ever seen in anyone."

Draven maintained his calm posture, observing the lion-man attentively. Every gesture of Kaedor revealed discipline and self-control. He wasn't just talking; he was measuring Draven, analyzing his aura and presence.

"I know," Draven replied serenely. "But you're not an ordinary student either. Your control, your rhythm, your strength… everything indicates that you're different."

Kaedor arched a slight eyebrow, keeping his arms crossed. His smile was almost imperceptible, but there was something in it: simultaneous recognition and challenge.

"Different?" Kaedor repeated calmly. "So we're on the same level. And it will be interesting to discover how far each of us can go."

Draven felt a pang of excitement mixed with caution. He knew that every word Kaedor spoke carried strategic significance. This wasn't a polite conversation; it was a pre-showdown of tension before the real confrontation.

"I'm not here to measure strength now," Draven said, maintaining his calm and firmness. "But when we fight… you'll see the extent of the Nocteerom."

Kaedor tilted his head slightly, studying Draven's every expression. His golden eyes were penetrating, as if trying to decipher every thought.

"And I'll be ready," Kaedor replied. "Don't underestimate my physical abilities or my energy control. When the time comes, the difference in strength will speak for itself."

Silence filled the courtyard again. It wasn't just the weight of the words, but the presence of power emanating from both of them. The tension could be felt by any student or instructor who passed by.

Draven took a deep breath. He maintained his calm posture, but inside him, adrenaline surged. He knew the tournament wasn't just about defeating opponents; it was silent, strategic training for bigger confrontations.

Kaedor, for his part, didn't relax either. He studied Draven, analyzing his posture, breathing, balance, and even the smallest details in the movement of the shadows around his body. Each of Draven's victories had demonstrated skill, but now Kaedor wanted to understand how he integrated the Nocteerom with physical movements and combat tactics.

Finally, Kaedor took a step back, but kept his gaze steady:

"So… so be it. When the time comes, may the strongest win."

Draven lowered his head slightly in a sign of respect.

"May the strongest win."

They separated slowly, each maintaining a warrior's posture. But the atmosphere held something no one could ignore: a rivalry that was silently, intensely, and inevitably brewing, promising that the future confrontation would be decisive, not only for the tournament, but for each of them individually.

As Draven made his way through the courtyard, he couldn't help but think:

"Kaedor isn't just stronger. He's strategic, cold, and calculating. And I need to be ready to face him head-on."
