At this time, Eva Longoria was far from being the household name she would later become, but the spark in her eyes was already intoxicating.
"Hello, Landon, I'm Eva." She also greeted Landon with a cheek kiss, her voice carrying a hint of raspy magnetism that was very pleasant to hear. "I'm really looking forward to today's shoot; this song is so energetic."
"Hello, Eva." Landon suppressed the surprise in his heart and responded with a smile as well. He quickly searched his memory: Eva Longoria in the year 2000... what was she doing at this time?
Landon had no idea what roles Eva had played before 'desperate housewives'; perhaps, like himself six months ago, she was just working hard to get any acting opportunity possible.
And being finalized by Universal Music in such a short time to participate in this highly anticipated MV was undoubtedly very important for her.
"Eva is currently performing in a play," Philip added at the right moment, seemingly noticing Landon's lack of familiarity. "We felt she has a very unique, vibrant sexiness that fits this song perfectly."
Eva smiled, not embarrassed by the need for a secondary introduction, but rather quite frank:
"Yeah, I'm still working hard to make more people remember my name. So I have to perform well today; I can't waste this opportunity, nor can I drag down our big star." She looked at Landon, her eyes carrying a joke, but also the restraint and seriousness of a newcomer.
Landon now completely understood Universal's casting logic.
Jennifer Love Hewitt represented mainstream popularity and sweetheart appeal, responsible for covering a wider audience base;
While Eva Longoria brought a fresh, Latin-flavored, more aggressive and vital beauty, responsible for creating more impactful and memorable visual sparks.
One was responsible for 'attracting,' the other for 'igniting'—they complemented each other perfectly.
"I'm very glad to have you both join us," Landon said to the two actresses. "I believe we'll shoot a great MV over these next few days."
With preparations ready, director Phillip Atwell gathered all the main creators for a final communication, concisely explaining the core emotions and camera language of each scene.
When he mentioned that Landon had several shots where he needed to show off his physique, his tone was very natural.
When Landon, as requested, casually took off the loose sports jacket he was wearing over his clothes, and then removed the tight black sleeveless tank top underneath, revealing well-defined shoulder and arm lines and blocky abdominal muscles, a collective gasp rang out from the female staff on set; many even covered their mouths, eyes wide open.
This sound was particularly clear in the relatively quiet preparation moment.
Landon himself didn't mind; he had long since grown accustomed to displaying his body as part of a performance in front of the camera.
But his sharp peripheral vision caught the reactions of the two female leads standing not far away, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Eva Longoria.
Jennifer's eyes, which held a sweet smile, widened slightly. Her gaze quickly swept over his arms and shoulder blades before she swiftly glanced at Eva beside her, as if checking to see if she was overreacting.
Eva Longoria's reaction was a bit more direct; her gaze carried undisguised appreciation as it moved from Landon's upper body lines to his profile, her lips curving into an interested arc.
Almost at the same time, she exchanged a knowing look with Jennifer, one filled with surprise and admiration.
Landon had no time to savor these subtle interactions.
The set for the first scene was ready; it wasn't a bustling club, but a surreal 'operating room.'
"Action!" Philip's voice came through the loudspeaker, and the studio instantly entered filming mode.
The first shot was highly visually impactful: a futuristic glass door designed in a circular shape slowly slid open. The camera pushed in, and Landon appeared in the center of the frame.
He had a striking white headband wrapped around his head and a shiny diamond stud in one ear. He was lying prone on a metal platform similar to an operating table, his eyes tightly shut.
The combination of the headband and the earring integrated street elements into this cold medical scene.
Immediately after, the camera switched to a slightly pulled-back, high-angle shot.
Two actors dressed in medical scrubs could be seen holding surgical instruments that emitted a cold light, performing surgery above Landon's smooth-lined back.
"Cut!" Philip shouted, his tone satisfied. "Very good! This one's a wrap, prepare for the next scene!"
There was no safety take; it passed on the first try.
Landon got up from the 'operating table' and stretched his shoulders.
This scene quickly and effectively established the surreal, cool, and slightly tongue-in-cheek tone of the MV, implying that the protagonist was being 'crafted' or 'activated,' preparing to enter the world of revelry.
Unlike the original version, Landon had already removed all mentions of Eminem when adapting the lyrics, so naturally, there was no need to arrange for cameo shots of Eminem and Dr. Dre outside the glass dome.
As for whether other figures were needed to fill that frame, Philip and Landon had discussed it earlier and decided that leaving it blank or using some abstract light silhouettes might have more style; this point was left for post-production to decide.
The scene switched rapidly.
The second set was another room filled with the texture of metal and glass, with a cool color palette.
Two doctors appeared on stage.
One was at the side of the frame, solemnly checking a glowing tablet medical record;
The other was in the back, operating a complex piece of equipment that emitted a faint blue light.
As for Landon, he was hung upside down by a device, head pointing toward the floor.
This posture was not comfortable; Landon needed to display an anti-gravity state full of control.
When Philip shouted "Action" again, the upside-down Landon opened his eyes, his gaze sharp. Facing the camera, he sang the iconic opening lines of the song, his voice carrying a slight pressure from being upside down, which only added to the tension:
"Go, go, go, go, go... It's your birthday, shawty..."
(Go, go, go, go, go... Today is your birthday, girl...)
The camera rotated and pushed in around him, capturing close-ups of his inverted face and the slight protrusion of veins in his neck, wonderfully combining a physiological abnormality with absolute control in performance.
"Cut! Perfect!" Philip's voice was tinged with excitement.
The third act: the scene shifted to an area resembling a high-end gym or a physical fitness lab.
Landon sat on an exaggerated butterfly chest press machine, with several shimmering surface electrode patches attached to his body, connected to invisible wires.
He matched the rhythm of the music, performing slow and powerful pressing movements. With every exertion, his muscles bulged, and the light from the electrode patches flickered accordingly, as if monitoring or stimulating the infinite energy within his body.
This visual integrated physical training, a sense of technology, and musical rhythm, further reinforcing the concept of 'creating the ultimate party creature.'
After three consecutive creative and powerful solo shots, finally, the main event arrived—entering the club.
