I sigh looking around the conference room there's only 3 other people as dale was shipped off to get better healing. I mean he had lost an arm.... and a leg... and part of his face... so he kinda had to go. He couldn't help us anymore.... still it feels quite bad for him. I mess with my hands looking down, I probably should have done more.
"Dale, he's a...good man"
W stares at sunny for a while
"It's alright. I knew that the fool was going to get himself killed, eventually, I'm glad that this time he got off easy. There were six of us at the start, you know?"
Now there's 1.5... that was rude. I'm glad I didn't say it.
"Sun"
He looks back
"You said you need memories right?"
He nods. I take his hand and I give him my extra. I like being organized after all
"Your giving them to saint right? Look, little tip, do that shit in your soul sea if you can. When flame became transcendent, I got thrown around like a damn rag doll"
He nods
"Yeah.... that uh makes full sense"
We stare at each other
"You were going to do outside your soul sea and now your embarrassed"
He grimaces
"You're right but shut up"
I laugh.
"Doofus"
He scoffs
"Well at least my echos don't have a attitude like that fish one you have does"
"Listen here idiots and fools you all aren't going to have a fun day. A fallen titan is coming. Now if it gets bad enough saint bloodwave will help. But. I think you all know, he isnt made to fight on land. Now if we can we will have to fall back. No risking your lives, play safe."
They all nod saying something along the lines of yeah I wont.
"Good. Die and you know what will happen. I'll go to the underworld and I'll dig your silly ass right out."
They all nod
"and no unwanted dick jokes"
Beast scoffs
"Damn it."
I sit on the walls my cohort and sunny's stay together huddled, whispering among themselves. I lean over to sunny
"So, you ready?"
He shrugs
"Yeah probably"
This is definitely going to be a nightmare, heh. Well we should be able to best it. Even if sunny cant kill it with whatever project he has im sure flame can get a limb or two off....
"Wasn't the heart of darkness fused with a mountain?"
Sunny raises an eyebrow
"Yeah but why?"
My eyes narrow
"Isn't that titan a walking mountain?"
J glances over
"Are you saying they fused?"
I shrug
"Unlikely but still its the best theory I've got for where the ugly ass Beatles went"
That is loud.... God damn how big is a fallen titan.... how big is a corrupted one?! Only the best of the best can hold one off. Oh... wow... I can see why they call it a walking mountain. Why does it need that many arms. I'm glad I put on my headphones. It walks forward with each step it makes a thunderous boom. Loud.
Oh its staring... oh that is a weird the white was like a eyelid. Heat. Its heat. Oh. Oh funny it has no clue who its up against. I lift one of my hands putting everything into countering it. I may be of a lower class but I am still quite powerful. Darkness is still all around me, I hear movement as something is thrown. Then in a flash of light the minor shard falls apart.
"Holy shit"
"Sunny, what the hell… how?"
I walk over to the edge studying it as it falls.... why does it look so... wrong? That isn't like that in the photos....
"Oh.... no.... oh no is it too late to say I told you so?"
Its the heart of darkness. It finally hits the ground killing countless creatures and making a part of the wall almost fall apart, it would have if it was more melted. Out flows a river of darkness.
"Yes. Bloodwave."
J looks over at sunny
"What?"
He grabs J by the shoulders his voice demanding and a little scared, what did that tunnel do to him?
"Bloodwave! Summon Bloodwave here! He's our best hope of stopping the Heart of Darkness!"
Well it seems we will have our work cut out for us.
I start stretching well this will be quite unusual. I hear J yell something or the other then look at us
"Are you ready?"
Sunny shakes his head
"Not even a little bit."
I nod
"Yeah. My aspect was made for something like the beetles."
Doll walks forward from having been standing with the cohorts, sometimes they forget their ascended. Its understandable really.
"Well, tough. While the Awakened are fighting off the Nightmare Creatures, someone has to deal with the bugs. They absolutely cannot be allowed to enter the city. I'll stop the left... swarm. ■■■■ you go fight the middle left, and go to the middle-right yourself. Bloodwave will handle the last one. With some luck, the Ascended who were supposed to deal with them in the first place will arrive to reinforce us before everyone dies... the couple of them who are still alive... at least one of them was here"
She pats my shoulder time for more work
"I'll be sending my echos and cohort to reinforce you all, me and doll will work together."
I jump from the walls holding doll, my cloak actives i hear some catter from the walls at it. A lot of people could have died due to the heat, the walls got damaged as I was focused on keeping the humans themselves alive. When I land two blasts of ice wipe out many of the creatures.
Soon we start moving to meet the heart of darkness head on. As we get to it bloodwave makes his appearance. He's top 5 saints. Probably not in power but in my heart. There's no 3-5 of course but still. A shard of ice flies over as his echos appear. Singer summons herself and for a second i see her face. It has a smile that for a second seems quite... that... she's going to steal the kill isn't she? Well.... I want stuff so I won't say anything.
A swarm of beetles lashes out and is frozen. More take its place instantly.
"Well. I thought this would be worse"
I nod as we push forward
"Yeah. Its not half as bad as I thought. For a second I feel... something really weird.
"Hey, what the fuck was that?"
I shrug
"Your literally me. Why would I know?"
Doll shakes their head
"i mean fair enough."
I block a large amount of very ugly looking horrid beast creatures insects from hitting doll.
"I think i hate insects"
Doll nods
"Yes they are very horrid."
"Yes they really are"
With a swipe of a sword doll wipes out a few that where jumping at me
"We really need to get you a better armor..."
I'm almost hit but doll blocks it
"How in fuck did I not think of that!?"
Doll glances over and does a double take
"Holy shit is that what a shadow spawn looks like?!"
I freeze a whole region of the damned things
"Yeah"
We speak at the same time
"How didn't I come up with a shell like that?!"
He had taken the form of the shadow spawn. I should have thought of such a thing!
Soon I hear the spell speak
[You have slain a corrupted terror: broken shard of the abyss]
[You have received a memory]
"Oh singer!"
Me and doll glance at each other, it feels weird to talk to myself. Singer really did do it again, she stole another kill. Well J hasn't said anything about it so I won't mention it. I hope bloodwave doesn't mind.
"Everyone get on the echo!"
Flame jumps forward battered and injured but pretty okay in all honesty. Bloodwave makes it to us one echo now gone. Singer floats behind him acting very overly innocent. I do try not to make eye contact with him.
I climb onto flame as everyone else does, it is quite massive now, it was already big enough as a fallen demon to hold everyone in the original changing star party and it was now a lot bigger. Everyone climbs on even bloodwave. Must have been quite the fight. Singer floats down sitting next to him. Flame starts running
"Damn commander i can see why you can stand on the rhino"
I nod. I hear a voice I assume is bloodwave
"Huh... okay?"
Did singer just? I look back and one of her chains are now a deep blue. God damn it!
"Take your soldiers and go, Soul Reaper. I will hold the beasts back for a bit… tell your commanders to activate the explosives as soon as you're past the defense line."
I nod, I mean he should survive the explosion. I could stay, I cant really be blown up but still.
"You… you…"
Oh sunny
"Ah… I think you might have misunderstood, Sunless. I am not trying to sacrifice myself. It's just that an explosion like that won't harm a Transcendent too much. The Awakened, however, or even someone like you… better not risk it."
I summon commanders authority
"Do you want healing you seem... injured"
He nods
"That will help"
I heal him not making eye contact
"Sorry for the kill steal?"
He doesn't react
"Its fine"
We separate with me in the front, apparently I am a symbol or whatever.
"Come on you fools let's go!"
My cohort seem more then a little beat up
"Yes boss..."
"Ascended Heat seeker, was it smart to send us with jet?"
I nod
"They only had one attacker so they needed extra help"
Fighter sighs
"This has been a long day...."
Rogue laughs
"But its night"
"Does that even matter?"
I get to the second line. His cohort gets to it but....
"Where is he?" His cohort is very injured and... hes missing an arm! Ranger moves forward healing through poor man
"Hes fighting a devil"
I look up at the city
"I... do you think I can help?"
One of them, a unassuming woman shakes her head
"No, it seemed to be able to do that thing major does" t
Turn into a shadow? She's right i don't have anything for that.
"That bastard better survive. I'll go and get him myself if he doesn't"
I hear portal laugh tiredly
"Oh so its your friends you threaten like that too"
Still i keep my soul sea up watching to see if sunless appears in it.
