The creature that emerged from the crate was over 9 feet tall and nearly as wide. It stood on two feet and had long sharp claws at the end of its arms. It was covered in blue grey fur and had two massive tusks protruding from either side of its jaw.
"What is that thing?" Leona asked.
"I don't know, but it's bad news." Ren answered.
The monster started roaring and snarling at the two of them. It reared up and seemed like it was preparing to charge at them before Deergen put his hand on it and it seemed to calm down for a short time.
"As you can see my little pet here isn't the most friendly, I'm the only one who can get him to calm down. I have him pretty well trained." Deergen said, almost bragging. "I think I'll have him take care of you. I want the girl all to myself." He said while pointing at Ren.
"That monster is a real problem, and the guy isn't weak either. We're probably better off separating them and taking them on one on one, so let's go along with his plan for now." Ren whispered to Leona.
"That's fine, I can take that guy easy. What about you? Are you sure you can handle that monster?" She asked.
"Definitely not, but I think I can keep it busy long enough for you to win your fight." Ren replied shrugging his shoulders.
"That doesn't really inspire much confidence." Leona said.
"You don't have to worry about me. Trust me. I'm…" Ren said with a shift in demeanor and the confidence of a hero. "I'm really really fast whenever I run away." He said with a goofy grin.
"Eh, if he doesn't come back after his fight I'd be fine with that too I think. Leona thought to herself.
"I wonder if you'll be alright yourself." Ren said.
"Tch, I'm stronger than you. I don't think I need you to worry about me." She scoffed as she took off and Deergen followed after her.
The two split up and Deergen chased Leona while Ren was chased by the monster.
"This thing is dangerous, I need to get it as far away from populated areas as soon as possible." Ren thought as he led the monster out of the city and into a heavily wooded area.
Leona had already attempted to start her fight with Deergen, but she had run into an issue. She was unable to attack with her full power while in the city because she wanted to avoid any collateral damage.
"Tch, this is probably what Ren meant when he said he was worried about my fight. I'm glad he's not here to see this, it'd be too embarrassing." She thought. Though he had already assumed that her fight would end up that way anyway.
She then tried to get away so she could fight using her full power, but no matter what she did, Deergen always caught up to her.
"How come I can't get away from this creep?" Leona thought.
"You know why you can't get away from me?" Deergen asked. "It because of my ability, Hunter's Scent. It allows me to leave a special scent on anyone within range of my ability. As long as you're marked by my scent I can find you anywhere."
"What? Ew, gross!" She said as she tried to rub the scent off.
"Don't bother, the scent is made from my aura it can't be removed by such conventional methods." He bragged. "It'll stick to you until I remove it, or if you manage to defeat me, but I wouldn't count on either one if I were you. Oh and by the way, this little trick isn't all my ability can do." He said as he released a new scent with his ability.
"What's he doing now?" Leona thought as she covered her mouth and nose.
"Haha! Covering your mouth won't do you any good. My scent can seep into your pores, it's impossible for you to avoid. And this is very special scent. I call it, Tamer Fragrance. It allows me to tame any target to make them follow all my orders. That's how I got that monster under my control, and that's how I'll get you under my control too."
Despite her struggle, she was engulfed by his attack completely, and eventually came to a standstill.
"Nice, looks like it's working." Deergen said with a twisted smile. "Let's start out by having you give me a little kiss." He said while pointing at his cheek. "Then we can have some real fun. Luckily I found a nice place for us to have some privacy." He said as he lead her to an abandoned building.
Leona strained as she walked towards him slowly and she placed her hand on his chest whenever she got close to him.
"Oh what's this? I haven't even told you to touch me yet. Maybe you aren't as resistant to this as you made yourself out be." Deergen said with a laugh. Leona said something, but it was too quiet for Deergen to hear. "What was that? Speak up sweetheart."
"Ripple Radiance!!!!"
Deergen was then blasted away by Leona's attack and the destructive shockwave turned the entire building into rubble. Deergen was buried under the rubble and was knocked unconscious by Leona's strike.
"Eck, what a creep. As if I'd fall for some lame ability like that. Still, at least it gave me the opportunity to use my full power to crush that guy." Leona said. "Gross, even though my fist only touched him for a second, I still want to wash my hands after that."
While Leona had defeated Deergen, Ren had led the monster deep into the forest on the city's outskirts. After Deergen was defeated, the effect of his ability on the monster had dissipated. It started to go even more wild than before.
"Ah! This thing got even faster! It's going crazy too. I was kind of hoping to settle this without fighting. That thing is wicked strong, way stronger than that guy anyway." Ren said as he stopped running away. "Oh well, there's no one else around to see. I guess I could let loose a little bit." He said as he removed his goggles.
