Chapter 103 - Chapter 103: Lucy

"Hahaha, the old folks say this is the face of the God of Sun and Flame."

"He can guide heroes to ignite the Lake of Fire and return safely from The Hollow."

"But there's another saying: the pattern on the Yang Sui also depicts an inverted person, who is none other than the first Overlord of the Motorcycle Clan Alliance."

Kasa explained the skill with a smile, seeming quite enthusiastic and interested in the story.

"Such a unique pattern must have a reason, right?" Ling asked.

"You are correct. Actually, this pattern represents the legend of the first Overlord undergoing the Hellfire Ride."

"Proxy, although the Old Oil Well District can still extract oil now, do you know that the core extraction zone was swallowed by The Hollow decades ago?" Kasa asked, knowing this was necessary context for the rest of the story.

"Huh? But I remember that oil is a substance easily eroded by Aether, isn't it?" Ling pointed out the anomaly.

"Yes, actually, not long after the disaster, Aether substances flowed through the underground facilities and oil pumps, affecting the shallow crude oil."

"But coincidentally, after the only deep extraction facility collapsed, it formed a unique natural gas vent. Following the erupting natural gas, it prevented the Aether from spreading further downward," Kasa explained.

Hoshimi Aya, standing nearby, quietly listened as everyone explained the story of the first Overlord and the origin of the Hellfire Ride.

Although she couldn't recall the story clearly, hearing it again brought back some memories.

After nearly an hour of storytelling, the conversation finally concluded.

Ling took Hoshimi Aya back to the Upper Ring. After all, two people wandering around was better than one; at least someone was accompanying her.

However, as the two arrived in the Upper Ring via the elevator, they immediately ran into two acquaintances: Lucy and Bernice.

"Proxy, didn't Kasa say he was taking you to greet the Town Mayor?" Bernice asked. "Why did it take you so long to come back?"

"Kasa and I were downstairs just now, and we happened to see the Yang Sui, so Ling started chatting down there," Hoshimi Aya explained.

"That's right, Kasa, Ling, and I were just down there talking about the Yang Sui and the Hellfire Ride," Ling added in agreement.

"Haha, no wonder I could see Kasa beaming from a distance. That's Kasa's favorite story after all."

"Kasa even said his biggest dream is to become a hero like the first Overlord," Bernice explained with a smile.

"Tch. If he really wants to become a big shot like the first Overlord, he should forget these childish fairy tales right away," Lucy said speechlessly.

"But the first Overlord was indeed a real person, right?" Ling asked doubtfully.

"That's right. Precisely because he was a real person who existed, everyone should look at him objectively, shouldn't they?"

"The Hellfire Ride, in the end, only happened a few decades ago. How could it have such a strong legendary color?"

"However, borrowing the miracles of the gods can certainly make one's deeds widely known."

"The first Overlord was clearly a sharp-witted fellow," Lucy explained her view of the first Overlord.

"Lucy, Kasa said that always talking in such an old-fashioned manner will give you wrinkles," Bernice said, looking thoughtful.

"Nonsense!" "Don't listen to his nonsense!"

"I use face masks every day, so I won't get wrinkles!" Lucy explained indignantly upon hearing Bernice, perhaps having touched a sore spot.

"Ahem, Proxy, you can surely see it too, right?" "The Hellfire Ride, rather than being a heroic feat, is more like the first Overlord's means of gaining control over the Old Oil Well District," Lucy quickly changed the subject, clearly not wanting to continue on that topic.

"Speaking of which, I think I heard last night, Kasa called you Monteff yesterday. Lucy, you're from the noble Monteff family of New Erie?..." Ling mused.

"Heh, what noble family?" "You're being too polite to a nouveau riche!"

"If you're talking about a noble family, then it has to be one like the Hoshimi Family."

"But you guessed correctly, that is my family," Lucy admitted she was from the Monteff family but showed disdain for the term 'noble family'.

"So you came from the city. Why did you give up your life there?" Ling asked curiously. After all, the environment in the Outer Ring was not as good as the city. Compared to the two, a normal person should know which to choose.

"Of course, it's because that kind of predetermined life is simply not what I want."

"If only I had the strength like Aya, then I wouldn't be subject to restraint."

"And my dad's mind is only filled with profit and business," Lucy explained helplessly.

"But, you really have a talent for management, don't you?" "You are the second-in-command of the Sons of Calydon now, doesn't that illustrate the situation?" Hoshimi Aya asked. She had wanted to ask this since playing the game.

"That's different. That place is too stifling."

"It's completely without freedom. I can't live the life I want there."

"It's more comfortable here," Lucy sighed.

"Um, Lucy..." "I heard sighing too often makes you age faster," Bernice said thoughtfully again.

"Nonsense!" "If that were true, Pai Pai would already have a face full of wrinkles!" Lucy retorted angrily, her somewhat gloomy mood instantly vanishing.

"Alright, back to the main topic."

"Proxy, what I said yesterday about the Overlord Faction targeting us was not just idle talk."

"The reputation of the Sons of Calydon has indeed been better than the Triumphant Ones in recent years; it would be strange if they weren't jealous."

"But due to recent unfavorable routes, our income has dropped significantly."

"Recruiting new employees has also become a problem."

"So, even for the future survival of the Sons of Calydon, we must seize the Overlord position," Lucy explained the current predicament of the Sons of Calydon.

"It's very reassuring to have someone like you, Lucy, helping to prepare for this matter," Ling said with a smile.

"I knew Phaethon, who is equally calculating, would understand these principles. Nothing great can be achieved with mere brute force and enthusiasm."

"Just watch; before long, I will surpass Kasa!"

"I will take the Sons of Calydon away from her! Hahaha!" Lucy nodded with satisfaction and then began her domineering declaration.

"Lucy, you wouldn't say when I asked you earlier." "So you did lose the fight last night after all," Bernice said with a smile.

From her previous answers, she had already guessed the outcome of the battle the night before.
