Chapter 103 - Chapter 103: The Archive

Returning home, Deya locked herself in her room, turned on her laptop, and started viewing the information on the flash drive. There was a complete biography of her brother. As she read, the admiration for her brother, which had been slowly fading, reignited with new intensity. Along with the admiration, the girl was overcome with shame.

The truth was that Ray's demands were indeed excessive. But reading about how even with a fatal injury her brother had taken care of so many people, Deya felt like a pathetic hysteric.

When Lily came into her brother's life, Deya was very happy, even though she still found it hard to believe that her imposing brother had once been a fat nerd. But the fact that Lily was no longer in her brother's life made the little one suspect that this beautiful love story had a not-so-happy ending, which frightened her.

There were many moments when Deya shed tears. It took her several days to finish reading her brother's biography. Besides her brother's biography, she also read about her mother and even about herself. The person who had gathered this information suggested that Amy, knowing she would soon die, had decided to leave her son someone to live for.

Learning the story of her own birth, Deya came to the same conclusion: her mother had given birth to her to act as an anchor for her brother. This didn't upset her. Knowing how much her brother had done, she was upset that Miku had abandoned him.

She knew that to give her life, her mother had had to endure a great deal of suffering. And if she was born to take care of her brother, then she would do it. What she had learned gave birth to a new determination in the girl's heart. Even the fact that her brother might be the founder of the "Crimson Devils" didn't stop her. Although there was no detailed description of what had happened to Lily and her brother's children, it was all obvious.

Deya was very smart. She loved spending time with her brother and Yuno. For a long time, they lived as if there was no one else in the world. Deya loved it so much that at first, she didn't even want to go to school. But very quickly, she got involved with the other children. The little one loved feeling like a child, and to fit in, she began to hide her intelligence.

Seeing her so happy, Ray slightly loosened his discipline, allowing her to be a child. This had not-so-good consequences.

But what Deya had learned over those few days changed her world forever. She set herself a goal: to breathe life back into her brother. She began to make plans and think about her behavior. Her childish side was not discarded, but now her intelligence would guide her actions.

Her brother's behavior suggested he wanted her to remain an innocent child as long as possible.

Having thought everything through, Deya returned to training and began studying diligently, but she also tried to make time for ordinary play with her friends. From that day on, she didn't hide any of her sides but tried to combine them. It didn't always work seamlessly, but she was putting in the effort.

Deya also found a new hobby. She wanted to know what was hidden in the password-protected archive. She could guess that it contained details of the deaths of Lily and her brother's children. She could use other sources, but she knew that the person who had gathered this information had the most complete picture of those events.

She understood that seeing what was there might be very frightening. But judging by what she had read, before Lily's death, her brother had been quite cheerful. He could still joke, but for the most part, he was lost in his thoughts.

Deya wanted to know everything, even if she had to see something terrible. The girl believed that only then could she fully understand her brother.

The only person there was no information about was Yuno.

Picking up her phone, Miku smiled. On the other end of the line was Yuno:

"I don't know what you did, but I can guess. So thank you, but don't think I can forgive you."

"I'm not even hoping for that. This is just my attempt to dull the guilt a little. Take care of them. I hope you succeed in taking your place in his heart. I'll be rooting for you."

"Your problem is that you're too obedient. But you don't need to change, because that's why he loves you. But when you're older, make it clear to him exactly what you want," Miku said.
