Chapter 109 - Chapter 109: Purple!

"I agree, they are perfect," Anna says with a bright smile, more due to Zack's excitement than her own. "Now let's take a look at the phones." Zack's excitement only intensifies as Anna agrees. He tucks the Batman and Catwoman covers securely under his arm like precious trophies. "Right this way," he announces grandly, already striding toward the long display counter on the right side of the store, where more devices are laid out, as demo units for customers to test. As they approach the counter, Anna's attention is drawn to the large wall graphics showing lifestyle imagery and product advertising. Zack attention is on the phone on display.

"I am thinking the Samsung Galaxy A 36," Zack says pointing at one of the phones on display, a simple Samsung phone with a grey backside. "It is Superfast charging and water and dust resistant," Zack reads aloud. "Unless you would prefer Apple?" he offers reluctantly, though his tone suggests he hopes she chooses Android so they can have identical models. "But their ecosystem is just so... exclusive. I don't want you feeling like you need special permission just to sync our contacts." Anna looks over the phone, less interested in the make and model than Zack. "I prefer Android too," she says casually. "That on is perfect and it is not too expensive." Zack's face lights up at her approval, his competitive nature clearly satisfied by their shared preference for Android technology.

"Excellent choice," Zack approved immediately, tapping the glass display case with a confident knock. He signals the nearest sales associate with an impatient wave of his hand. "We will take two of theses– black for me, obviously– and whatever colour she wants." As the employee unlocks the display case from behind the counter, Zack pulls Anna closer to his side protectively. His arm wraps around her waist while he continues inspecting the device's specs aloud. "See how it has 5G connectivity? That means faster data speeds when we are out together." He glances down at her expectantly. "And don't even think about getting the pink one just to mess with me. My street cred cannot handle that."

Anna smiles mischievously before saying, "I will take the dark purple one." Zack's jaw drops comically at her choice. For a moment, he actually looks offended, running a hand through his blond hair in exasperation. "No way," he protests immediately, turning to glare at the sales associate who is already preparing their order. "Change that to black. She is clearly messing with me." Despite his dramatic complaint, Zack can't hide the amusement sparkling in his green eyes as he watched Anna's mischievous smile. The competitive fire within him burns brighter knowing she enjoys pushing his buttons so easily. "Dark purple?" he repeats incredulously as they follow the employee toward the checkout counter. "What am I supposed to do with that? Hold your phone for you because mine looks too boring next to yours?" His possessive nature kicks in full force as he pulls out his wallet to pay for both devices plus the custom Batman/Catwoman covers.

"Fine," Zack concedes through gritted teeth, slapping his credit card onto the counter with unnecessary force. "But I am getting extra protective film for both screens so nobody can scratch my girlfriend's pretty purple phone." the salesclerk processes their transaction efficiently while Zack fidgets impatiently beside Anna. His green eyes dart between her and the employee handling their purchases as if worried someone might steal her away during checkout. "Hurry up," he mutters under his breath when payment takes longer than expected. His hand migrates from Anna's waist to rest possessively on her hip instead and she feels the heat of anticipation growing between them. Once everything is bagged and ready to go Zack snatches both boxes off the counter without waiting for his slip. "Come on," he urged urgently, already guiding her toward the exit with clear intentions of getting them out of public view as soon as possible.

Anna quickly grabbed the slip from the cashier before being pulled out of the electronic store by Zack. They hurriedly made their way back to his car in the parking lot, where Zack practically shoves Anna into the passenger seat before jogging around to climb behind the wheel. His hands tremble slightly as he starts the engine, fingers fumbling with keys due to residual adrenaline from their rushed departure. "Hold on," he commands breathlessly, reversing out of the parking spot with more aggression than necessary. "I can't believe I let you talk me into purple. Purple!" His nature is clearly wounded by this colour choice but underlying it is pure excitement about their purchase. He grips the steering wheel tightly as they pull onto the road. "Okay, new rule," he declares suddenly, turning to face her fully at a red light. "When we get home, you are using that fancy camera on your new phone to document exactly how much I hate that shade."

"So, what? Am I going to record you giving a speech? Or will your lesson be more intimate?" Anna asked teasingly, her voice laced with seduction. The red light ahead stretches into eternity as Zack's knuckles turn white gripping the steering wheel. Her seductive question hangs heavy in the confined space of his car, making the air crackle with unspoken promises. "Intimate," he rasps out, his voice dropping an octave. "Definitely intimate." His foot presses harder on the accelerator as the light finally changes green, launching them forward into traffic. The car speeds through residential streets with reckless abandon. "You have no idea what you do to me when you talk like that," he confesses roughly, rising a quick glance at her before focusing back on driving. "One minute I am buying you a phone, the next I am planning how to use it to record myself proving how much I worship every inch of your body. And trust me, baby– that purple phone is going to capture some incredible footage tonight."

"As much as that thought turns me on..." Anna says breathless with anticipation.
