Chapter 81 - Chapter 81 – A Name That Changes Everything

A low humming sound echoed across the ruined city.

Moments later, a Harrier fighter jet descended rapidly from the sky and landed on the shattered streets of Berlin. The powerful engines roared briefly before shutting down, leaving behind a heavy silence across the battlefield.

The gangway lowered.

The first thing everyone noticed was a gleaming bald head stepping out from the aircraft.

Nick Fury.

The S.H.I.E.L.D. director quickly walked down the ramp with steady steps.

"Director…"

Phil Coulson looked at him and immediately understood something important.

His earlier suspicion had been correct.

"Air Force Major Carol Danvers!" Nick Fury shouted without hesitation.

The sudden declaration stunned everyone nearby.

Who?

Most of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents present had never heard that name before. What shocked them even more was the expression on their director's face.

Nick Fury looked tense.

Even nervous.

That reaction alone was enough to send waves of confusion through the crowd.

This was the man who could remain calm even if the world collapsed in front of him. Presidents treated him carefully, and global leaders respected his authority.

Yet now he looked almost… cautious.

Everyone instinctively followed Fury's gaze.

It landed on the blonde woman standing beside Yun Chen.

She was undeniably beautiful.

Golden hair framed her face like sunlight, and her amber eyes carried a quiet intensity. Her tall, confident posture made her look like a Hollywood star who had accidentally wandered onto a battlefield.

But no matter how stunning she was, why would the director react like this?

At the same moment, Carol Danvers frowned slightly.

She hadn't expected anyone to recognize her identity.

Looking at the bald man in front of her, she slowly recalled fragments of an old memory. Decades ago, there had been an organization on Earth called S.H.I.E.L.D. that had worked with her during the conflict with the Skrulls.

It was ancient history now.

For a moment, she couldn't even remember the man's name.

Carol's voice turned cold.

"Who gave you permission to say my name?"

Nick Fury inhaled slowly.

The moment she responded, the last bit of doubt in his mind disappeared.

Nearly thirty years had passed.

Yet the woman standing in front of him looked exactly the same.

Time seemed to have completely frozen around her.

"Captain Marvel."

Nick Fury straightened his posture immediately.

Then, in front of everyone, he gave her a solemn salute.

It wasn't a salute dictated by rank or authority.

It was a salute of pure respect.

Carol Danvers had once saved Earth from a disaster most people didn't even know had happened.

Gasps spread through the surrounding crowd.

No one had ever seen the fearless director behave this way toward anyone.

"Hey, does anyone know who that woman is?"

"I swear I've never seen the director act like that before."

The murmurs spread rapidly through the nearby agents.

Phil Coulson watched the scene unfold with a relieved smile.

"That's great," he said quietly. "With her here, Earth is much safer."

Natasha Romanoff stepped closer.

She had already noticed the unusual expression on Coulson's face.

"You know her, don't you?" Natasha asked calmly. "Are you planning to keep this secret from me too?"

Coulson scratched the back of his head awkwardly.

"It's not that I want to hide it," he replied. "But that woman's identity is so classified that even Level Ten S.H.I.E.L.D. clearance can't access it."

Natasha's eyes widened slightly.

She herself held Level Ten authorization.

That rank gave her access to almost every file within S.H.I.E.L.D.'s database.

Yet this woman's information exceeded even her clearance level.

What kind of existence required that level of secrecy?

"If I hadn't accidentally been involved in that incident years ago," Coulson continued with a wry smile, "I wouldn't know about her either."

The conversation left Natasha even more curious.

Elsewhere, several other heroes were equally puzzled.

Captain America frowned slightly. Even though he was considered a symbol of American freedom and a legendary hero of World War II, Nick Fury had never treated him with this level of reverence.

Thor also studied Carol carefully.

He couldn't fully understand the situation, but his instincts were sharp.

And his instincts were telling him something important.

That woman was dangerous.

In fact, the level of danger she radiated was no less than the black-haired woman who had knocked him flying earlier.

"Well, this is great," Tony Stark suddenly said, stepping forward.

"Everyone was so tense just a moment ago. Now it turns out we're practically one big happy family."

Tony's casual tone instantly lightened the atmosphere.

He had always been surprisingly good at easing tension with humor.

Of course, despite his relaxed appearance, Tony was being extremely cautious internally.

"J.A.R.V.I.S., run a scan on that woman," he said quietly through his helmet's communication system.

There was no way Tony Stark could ignore the fact that the bald director—who had known his father—was suddenly acting so respectfully toward someone.

J.A.R.V.I.S. responded almost instantly.

"Apologies, sir. The energy fluctuations within her body exceed my total detection parameters."

Tony blinked.

"I am unable to determine her true strength. My recommendation is to maintain a safe distance."

Tony rolled his eyes.

"Thanks for the honest advice, J.A.R.V.I.S."

Meanwhile, Nick Fury had turned his attention toward the other two figures standing nearby.

"Who are they?"

He looked carefully at Yun Chen and Faora.

Standing face to face with the young man, Fury felt an unusual pressure.

It wasn't simply physical strength.

The pressure came from Yun Chen's presence.

His posture, his calm expression, and the way he looked at the world carried an unmistakable aura of authority.

It felt like standing before a king.

Yun Chen calmly observed the familiar bald director.

"The woman beside me is my subordinate," he said casually. "As for Carol…"

He paused slightly.

"She's my woman."

Nick Fury froze.

Carol immediately rolled her eyes.

She stepped forward and corrected the explanation.

"This is the ruler of the Kryptonian Empire," she said calmly. "The woman beside him is one of his people. From now on, they are allies of Earth."

"I see."

Nick Fury finally exhaled slowly.

At least they weren't enemies.

That alone was good news.

Deep down, Fury even felt slightly relieved that S.H.I.E.L.D. hadn't provoked them earlier.

Meanwhile, the conflict with Loki and the Chitauri army had officially ended.

Agents continued securing the battlefield while quietly discussing the shocking events they had witnessed.

Many of them attempted to search internal databases for information about Carol Danvers.

Every attempt returned the same message.

Insufficient clearance.

Even Natasha Romanoff couldn't extract anything useful from Coulson.

Eventually, the battlefield began to quiet down.

Thor reluctantly prepared to return to Asgard with Loki to face judgment.

As for the Mind Scepter…

He didn't even bother asking for it back.

S.H.I.E.L.D. clearly didn't want the dangerous artifact, and Thor understood that retrieving it from Yun Chen would be impossible anyway.

So the scepter remained in Yun Chen's possession.

For the next few days, Yun Chen enjoyed a surprisingly peaceful time on Earth. He spent most of it traveling around the world with Carol, exploring the planet she once called home.

But he hadn't forgotten his real purpose for coming to Earth.

Standing before Nick Fury one day, Yun Chen spoke calmly.

"Nick Fury."

"I need your help finding someone."

Fury raised an eyebrow.

"Who?"

Yun Chen's gaze sharpened slightly.

"A young man named Clark Kent."
