Cameos in The Big Bang Theory
Season 1 - Episode 7 - Part 1
Leonard and Sheldon were halfway up the fourth-floor stairs, legs heavy from another long day at the university, when they spotted Howard leaning against the wall outside their apartment. He looked ridiculous in the way only Howard could pull off — like he'd spent the last hour in front of a mirror trying to look like the kind of man who belonged in a cologne commercial. His tight black button-down shirt was unbuttoned low enough to show a sad patch of chest hair, the dark jeans were clearly new and still stiff around the knees, and his hair was gelled into a stiff, shiny wave that caught the hallway light every time he moved his head. A thin silver chain sat against his collarbone, glinting obnoxiously. He kept checking his reflection in his phone screen, adjusting his collar, then his hair, then his collar again with fidgety little movements.
Sheldon slowed down immediately, his posture stiffening like he'd just spotted a biohazard sign taped to the wall.
"Oh no."
Leonard sighed, already exhausted before the conversation even started. "What now?"
Howard spotted them and pushed off the wall with a grin that was far too pleased with itself. He looked like a man who believed the universe was finally about to hand him something he'd been waiting for his entire awkward life.
"You guys are not gonna believe this," he said, voice low and conspiratorial, like he was sharing state secrets instead of gossip about a girl. "Penny's friend from Omaha just showed up. Christy. Total smoke show. I'm talking blonde, legs for days, that kind of Midwest energy that screams 'I've done some things and I'm not sorry about any of them.' She's staying with Penny for a while. Indefinite visit, she said. Something about needing a break from Nebraska and wanting to see if she can make it out here too. Penny mentioned it casually downstairs earlier, and boom — instant opportunity."
Leonard raised an eyebrow, already suspicious of where this was going. "Okay… and you're dressed like you're going to a wedding — or maybe a funeral for your dignity — because…?"
Howard's grin widened into something sleazier. He straightened his shirt unnecessarily, puffing out his chest a little. "Because I'm gonna fuck her, that's why. She's exactly my type. Fun, flirty, a little wild. The second Penny introduced us downstairs earlier, I could tell. She was giving me that look. You know the one. The 'I've made bad decisions before and I'm open to making another one right now' look. Eyes lingering, little smile, the works."
Sheldon blinked slowly, processing the information with the same clinical detachment he used for lab results. "You are basing your romantic strategy on a facial expression and the assumption of poor impulse control? Fascinating. And statistically unwise."
"Exactly," Howard said, completely missing the judgment dripping from Sheldon's tone. He was too busy riding the high of his own confidence. "Penny told me some stories about her back when we first met. Apparently Christy was engaged to Penny's cousin for like six months. Real serious, family-approved engagement and everything — big ring, wedding plans, the whole deal. But the whole time she was also screwing Penny's brother on the side. Got caught when the cousin walked in on them in the garage one afternoon. Wild, right? She's got that chaotic, messy energy. I love it. Girls like that know how to have fun without all the complicated strings."
Leonard just shook his head and kept walking toward their door, keys already in hand. "Good luck with that, Howard. Really. I'm sure it'll go great. Try not to get your heart — or your wallet — broken in the process."
Howard followed them down the hall, still grinning like an idiot, undeterred. "I don't need luck. I've got moves. And she's clearly into guys who know how to have a good time. I'm telling you, this is happening tonight. I can feel it."
By the time they reached the fourth floor landing, the sounds were already leaking out of Penny's apartment. It started with muffled laughter — Christy's voice, bright and loud, cutting through the thin walls. Then a lower male voice that could only be Howard laying on the charm thick. Then a moan. Not subtle. Not quiet. The kind of moan that carried straight through the hallway and made Leonard's shoulders tense.
Howard's eyes lit up like Christmas had come early. "See? Told you. She's already here. I'm going in."
He knocked once — barely a courtesy tap — and pushed the door open without waiting for an answer. Penny's voice floated out from somewhere inside the apartment, annoyed but resigned, like she'd already accepted that her living space was no longer entirely hers.
"Seriously, Howard? Right now?"
The door clicked shut behind him with a finality that felt ominous.
Leonard and Sheldon stood in the hallway for a second, listening. The energy inside shifted almost immediately. Christy's voice got brighter, more teasing and playful. Howard's voice dropped into that smooth, practiced tone he used when he was trying way too hard to sound confident. Within ten minutes the moans got louder. Clearer. The unmistakable rhythmic thump of the headboard started hitting the wall in a steady beat.
Leonard rubbed his face with both hands, already feeling a headache coming on. "This is gonna be a long night."

Inside Penny's apartment, Howard had Christy bent over the arm of the couch within fifteen minutes of walking in. She was exactly what he'd hoped for — loud, shameless, and clearly enjoying being bent over and fucked hard while Penny tried to ignore them from the kitchen, pretending to be very interested in a bottle of water. Christy came with a loud, cursing laugh that echoed through the walls, her voice carrying every filthy word. Howard didn't last much longer. They didn't even bother moving to the bedroom. They just crashed on the couch afterward, half-naked, talking shit and laughing like they'd known each other for years, already making themselves comfortable in Penny's apartment.
Penny stood in her own kitchen with a bottle of water in her hand, watching her living room get taken over in real time. Christy had her feet casually in Howard's lap, both of them already acting like they owned the place. The TV was on too loud, some random show neither of them was really watching. Empty beer bottles were already accumulating on the coffee table. Penny's favorite throw blanket was kicked onto the floor during the earlier activity. Her apartment didn't feel like hers anymore.
She lasted maybe forty minutes — listening to the laughter, the occasional moan, the casual way they sprawled across her furniture — before she couldn't take it anymore. She grabbed her overnight bag from the closet, stuffed a few things inside, and walked across the hall. She knocked on 4A, trying to keep it quiet but firm.
Leonard opened the door. Penny looked tired and a little pissed, her hair messy from running her hands through it too many times in frustration.
"Hey," she said, keeping her voice low. "Can I crash on your couch tonight? Those two are… loud. And they've already taken over my whole apartment. I feel like a guest in my own place. Christy's acting like she lives there now and Howard's encouraging it. It's weird. I just need somewhere quiet for the night."
Sheldon appeared behind Leonard almost immediately, already shaking his head like the mere suggestion was a personal affront.
"Absolutely not. We have a strict guest protocol. Overnight stays require a minimum of forty-eight hours' notice and a signed waiver acknowledging that any disruption to my sleep schedule will result in—"
"Penny can stay," Leonard said, cutting him off before he could finish the full lecture.
Sheldon turned to him, genuinely betrayed, eyes wide behind his glasses. "Leonard!"
"She's our friend and her apartment is currently a sex zone. She can have the couch. It's one night, Sheldon. The world won't end."
Sheldon's mouth opened and closed twice. His brain was clearly running through every possible objection at lightning speed — hygiene concerns, routine disruption, the statistical likelihood of noise complaints. Then he threw his hands up in dramatic defeat.
"Fine. But I am documenting this breach of protocol in my personal log. And I am not responsible for any sleep deprivation I experience as a direct result of this decision. My circadian rhythm is delicate, Leonard. Delicate!"
Penny gave Leonard a grateful look, the tension in her shoulders easing just a little. "Thanks. I owe you one. Really. I just… I can't listen to them anymore tonight."
She dropped her bag by the couch and sank onto it with a heavy sigh, kicking off her shoes. The cushions felt like the only safe thing left in her night. Across the hall, another loud moan from Christy echoed through the building, followed by Howard's voice saying something that made Christy laugh even louder. The sound carried clearly through the thin walls, making Penny's jaw tighten.

The Halo night was already ruined before it even started.
Howard was gone — completely gone — holed up with Christy in Penny's apartment like the rest of the world had ceased to exist. The usual four-player rotation was now three. Sheldon stood in the middle of the living room holding his controller like it had personally offended him, staring at the empty fourth spot on the couch like it represented the collapse of civilization itself.
"This is unacceptable," he said, voice tight with rising distress. "We cannot play Halo 3 with an odd number of players. The teams will be unbalanced. The experience will be compromised. The sacred symmetry of our weekly ritual has been shattered by Howard's inability to prioritize group obligations over temporary carnal gratification."
Leonard was already on the couch, controller in hand, trying to stay patient despite the chaos leaking from across the hall. "We'll just do free-for-all or something. It's not the end of the world, Sheldon. We can still have fun."
"It is the end of the world," Sheldon insisted, pacing now in short, precise steps that made the floorboards creak softly. "Our entire social ecosystem is collapsing. Howard has abandoned us for a woman of questionable moral character and even more questionable decision-making skills, and now our sacred Halo night is in shambles. This is how societies fall, Leonard. First one member defects for carnal reasons, then the entire structure crumbles under the weight of imbalance. I have calculated the long-term effects. The data is not promising."
Penny was still on the couch where she'd been since she arrived, scrolling through her phone with one earbud in. She looked up at Sheldon's dramatic pacing and raised an eyebrow, half-amused despite her exhaustion from the day. "You guys are really that bent out of shape over a video game? It's just Halo. People play it by themselves all the time."
Sheldon turned to her like she'd suggested they burn the building down for warmth. His expression was one of pure academic horror. "It is not 'just a video game.' It is a coordinated tactical exercise requiring four participants for optimal balance and strategic depth. With only three players, the experience becomes fundamentally flawed. The probability of meaningful competition drops by approximately sixty-seven percent. Team dynamics suffer. Communication breaks down. The entire point of the evening is lost. This is a catastrophe of epic proportions."
Leonard glanced at her, then back at Sheldon. An idea hit him — half desperate, half inspired by the need to salvage what was left of the night. "What if we invite Penny to play?"
Sheldon froze mid-step. He turned slowly, like Leonard had just suggested they invite a wild animal into their living room to join family dinner. "Penny? She has no background in first-person shooters. Her hand-eye coordination during physical tasks appears average at best. The learning curve would be steep, the frustration levels high, and the overall experience would suffer. This is a mistake of monumental proportions. I have already prepared several contingency speeches for exactly this kind of scenario."
