Chapter 59 - Chapter 59 – The Rainbow Bridge and the Destroyer

Leon released his telekinetic hold on Thor's hammer.

The weapon dropped instantly.

"Boom!"

The heavy impact echoed through the pit as the hammer slammed back into the ground. It didn't bounce or tremble afterward. Instead, it remained perfectly still, as though it had become part of the earth itself again, locked into place like a powerful magnet fused with the planet.

Leon casually waved his hand, dispersing the dust that had been stirred up by the earlier chaos. The swirling dirt settled quickly as the air returned to calm.

Then he turned back toward Agent Phil.

"You should have your people clear out," Leon said calmly. "Leave a few guards behind if you want, but make sure ordinary civilians stay away from this place."

Phil blinked, listening carefully.

"You're not going to be able to take that hammer anywhere," Leon continued, nodding toward the crater. "It's waiting for its owner. And judging by the situation… that owner should be arriving soon."

"Its owner?" Phil repeated, frowning slightly.

"Yes," Leon replied casually. "Thor, the God of Thunder. His official residence is Asgard, which means he's not technically under Earth's jurisdiction."

He paused briefly before adding with a faint smirk, "In simpler terms, he's an alien."

Phil's expression stiffened.

Leon continued speaking as if discussing the weather.

"The guy himself is a bit reckless, but he's not a bad person. His brother, on the other hand… Loki is much more troublesome. Slippery, manipulative, and fond of schemes."

He looked directly at Phil.

"So you'd better be careful."

Phil nodded slowly.

"…Alright."

Most of what Leon said sounded confusing and surreal, but he still committed the information to memory. Leon's tone suggested he wasn't joking, and S.H.I.E.L.D. already possessed enough classified intelligence regarding extraterrestrial matters to take such claims seriously.

Leon and Jean hadn't come here solely because of the hammer.

The weapon had simply piqued Leon's curiosity. His real goal had been something else entirely.

He wanted to find a way to reach Asgard.

Now that curiosity had been satisfied.

Leon was preparing to leave with Jean when his expression suddenly changed slightly.

His eyes shifted toward the distance.

Jean reacted at almost the same moment, turning her head in the same direction.

Then Agent Phil's walkie-talkie crackled to life.

"Sir… there's… there's some kind of high-energy signature appearing outside the base," a soldier's voice reported frantically. "It looks like… like a teleportation device. Wait—something just came out of it. Ah—!"

The transmission ended abruptly with a scream.

Then silence.

A second later, violent explosions erupted outside the base. The rumbling blasts were quickly followed by a series of sharp gunshots echoing across the compound.

Leon glanced toward the exit calmly.

"Looks like I won't be leaving just yet."

Before anyone could react, he vanished.

One moment he stood inside the facility, and the next he appeared outside the base.

Leon surveyed the scene.

Ahead of him stood a massive column of multicolored light descending from the sky. The beam shimmered with seven radiant colors as it connected the heavens and the earth like a cosmic bridge.

The light was already beginning to fade.

Leon raised his gaze.

The beam pierced straight through the clouds, and at its farthest point the tail end revealed the deep darkness of outer space.

"The Rainbow Bridge," Leon murmured.

Without hesitation, he stepped forward and walked directly into the remaining teleportation field.

The moment he entered the light's range, his telekinetic perception surged outward along the pathway created by the beam. His consciousness followed the spatial channel upward at incredible speed.

At the other end of the bridge, he saw it.

A magnificent realm bathed in golden brilliance.

Towering structures gleamed like molten sunlight. Vast palaces stretched across a realm that looked both ancient and divine, radiating a grandeur far beyond anything on Earth.

"Asgard."

Leon's eyes narrowed slightly.

The Rainbow Bridge functioned as a one-way teleportation system. He couldn't physically travel through the pathway without the bridge actively transporting him.

But that didn't matter.

All Leon needed was the destination.

Every teleportation channel carried a unique spatial signature—a kind of coordinate embedded within the structure of space itself. Once he observed that signature and understood the coordinates, teleportation to that location became theoretically possible.

In the brief instant the bridge remained active, Leon had already memorized the spatial coordinates of Asgard.

His goal was accomplished.

"Oh…"

Leon chuckled quietly.

"So it's that far away."

After calculating the distance, he realized something interesting.

Asgard lay unimaginably far from Earth—farther than his current abilities could reach through direct teleportation. Even with his immense power, bridging that distance instantly was still beyond his present limits.

At that moment, the last remnants of the Rainbow Bridge vanished completely.

Leon returned his attention to the base.

And immediately saw chaos.

A gigantic humanoid creature rampaged across the facility grounds.

The monster looked as if it had been forged entirely from metal. Standing nearly seven meters tall, its massive frame resembled a walking suit of armor. Its head was hollow, and within the empty cavity a fierce flame burned like a furnace.

When it attacked, scorching beams of heat erupted from the hollow face.

One blast pierced straight through an armored vehicle, causing it to explode violently. Soldiers caught in the beam were instantly reduced to charred remains as their bodies carbonized under the extreme heat.

The temperature of the attack was terrifying.

Jean appeared beside Leon silently.

Leon pointed toward the metal giant.

"Tear it apart."

Jean didn't respond verbally.

Her body ignited with a pale crimson aura as her telekinetic power surged outward. A thread of that energy wrapped around the massive humanoid machine like an invisible rope.

She extended her hand and twisted it slightly.

A harsh creaking sound echoed through the battlefield.

The metal giant began to deform.

Under the pressure of an overwhelming invisible force, its towering body twisted violently like a piece of soft wire. The enormous frame bent inward, folding and contorting until it compressed into a tangled mass of metal.

Jean tightened her grip in the air.

The twisted structure collapsed further, shrinking rapidly under the crushing pressure.

In a matter of seconds, the once-terrifying construct had been compressed into a dense sphere of metal.

A giant iron ball.

Leon nodded in approval.

"Very good. Your telekinetic control has improved."

He looked down at the compressed mass thoughtfully.

"That thing was one of Asgard's most powerful magical constructs. If something like it appeared elsewhere on Earth, it could easily destroy an entire country."

The machine had a name.

The Destroyer.

It had been sent by Loki as part of a scheme—teleported to Earth to eliminate his brother Thor.

But Leon had casually interfered with the plan.

Now the weapon lay crushed into a harmless sphere.

Leon walked forward and tapped the metal ball lightly with his fingers.

A small grin spread across his face.

He was suddenly very curious about Loki's reaction once the prince realized his carefully prepared plan had just been completely ruined.
