My head hurts, it's hard to think about what happened, I try to get up but it's hard, like I'm not really used to move like that, or something like that.
"Hello, I need help" I call
After a while, the door open and the guide just help me take off the gear and leave the machine, I start to remember what happened, how I follow Derek to this place for us to play this virtual reality game.
"How is Derek?"
My head is pounding, but I keep a straight face, don't like the idea of what can happen if they drag me in the infirmary, I absolutely shouldn't go there.
"He is being treated" the guide respond
"Can I see him?"
"You are not part of the group, don't worry we going to take care of him" he sign for me to follow
I follow him outside, still a bit scared of what might happen to Derek, but maybe like the guard said he is being treated and made part of the gang, if I don't see him tomorrow... I might report this place.
I start heading home, the alley is not really a safe please in the suburbs, they are generally territory of groups and gangs, so I have to go back in the streets without breaking rules.
For what I understand that is the way I came from... now where should I go... I might be lost, my head hurts, maybe that's the reason I forget from where I came, should I ask for a direction? I don't know if they help, but I'm scared of going somewhere I couldn't be.
"Sir, can I ask for directions?"
There is a old man watching me from a balcony, he looks good smoking but I can't shake the felling that is dangerous talking with him, but I need help on how to go back.
"Um... what should I do?" he says, more like talking to himself
I trample a bit, the situation is bad I'm no runner, if I have to escape from this place I probably not getting far, as I start to plan for the worst, the man ask.
"Where are you going?"
"I wanna go back in the streets"
"Why are you here?"
Okay, that's important question, how should I respond a random person that I know nothing about?
"I came here to play with a friend"
Honestly, I'm a really bad liar so I try being general about it.
"And who are your friend?"
Shit, I might die today.
"My friend is Derek, do you know him?"
The old man node, with a sudden change of expression he wave his hand and another man hidden in the shadows walk towards me.
SHIT, I NEED TO RUN, HIDE, SCREAM, ANYTHING JUST DO SOMETHING.
But I'm frozen in place, I'm seriously going to die like this, it's been tough life with few Redeeming qualities, but still, I wanted to die after my mom, she be alone like that-
"Show him the way out" the old man say
"Yes, Boss"
I still out of myself when I'm draged back in the streets, the man just drop me and go back to the alley.
"T-thank you"
I don't know if he heard me but it's fine, I think that's enough adventure for the next year or two, I start walking my way home, using the safe street to reach sweet home.
My home is in this apartment, it's close to the slum so it's cheap, I start climbing the stairs to the floor 5 and find something good.
"Oh it's puppy Laidy, oh cute little girl"
It's the dog of the neighbor, she sometimes let her walking outside, it's nice, I can't take care of a dog, as I pass most of my time working, I pet her and play for a little while, them I head to my room.
"Did something happen?"
My neighbor ask me as she grab Laidy.
"Yes, but it's fine now, no need to worry"
"Ok, if you saying"
The dog went inside, but she still looking at me, almost glaring, did I do something wrong?
"You don't look well"
Oh, now that she said, almost forgot the pain because of the situation, but now that I have calm down, my head hurts like hell, but I will survive for sure, this is not even the worst pain I did have to endure.
"Don't worry, it's just some headache, it will pass eventually... Probably"
We look at each other, she frow a bit and go pick something.
"Wait for a moment"
"I'm fine... Okay"
She come back with a bottle of pills.
"You can have these, they are painkillers"
"Are you sure, these things are expensive"
"I have a lot lying around so I can give you these"
"Thank you, if you need anything just call"
"You should probably rest now, have a good night"
"Have a nice rest"
I enter my room, it's a good size honestly considering I live alone, I examine the bottle and there are a few pills, I take one just to exame as I don't know how to identify a pill, I open my notebook and searche for research about it and seems legit, I took while drinking water, but my head still hurts, I try to find the news about virtual reality that I seen before, but there is nothing about it here, like everything about it was erased... I might have inadvertently call the attention of some authority, let me mix a bit, maybe this will help keeping me low on a watch list.
Man when I see Derek again, he will receive the scolding of life time, but now I really need to rest, as I come over my bed I finally have time to think about what happened in the virtual reality, it was incredible that we could realive such a distant past, but when it comes to that feature... Now that I think about it, we really staid there for a long time, the problem is I can't remember what we did there, I mean we probably play more nostalgic games but I can't remember very well, we played for hours and then we did something else... Gah I surrender, maybe he will remember better than me.
