Aire steps were soft against the polished floors, barely making a sound as she moved away from her chamber. The air outside felt different from the stillness she had left behind.
It was comfirmed by the council elders on the day of the ball, that the moon goddess had been angry about her coronation. Yet, life carried on in the castle, as though nothing had changed.
Aire's fingers brushed lightly against the fabric of her gown as she walked on. Her mind was not on where she was going.
Not fully.
She had intended to head toward the breakfast hall. That was the plan. That was what was expected of her at the moment.
However, something soft and persistent tugged at her.
The image of a face, and a pair of frightened eyes clawed to the top of her mind. She suddenly remembered the small body curled in fear on the training field.
Aire slowed.
Her steps faltered just slightly before coming to a complete stop.
