Chapter 59 - Chapter 59 : Second Test

The light faded and everything became normal again when Lucian and the others stood up.

They never thought that Silas would be this much talented that even the Valerius ancestor would give him a personal title.

Now, even Cassian couldn't call his son by his name normally. There were rules in the family: if a person held a specific title, they had to be addressed by that title alone.

It was Varric who spoke first. "Umm... Wolf Sovereign! Do you still want to take the other tests now?"

Silas felt a shiver run down his spine hearing that polite tone from one of the strongest people in the Imperium.

He coughed hard. "Cough! Cough!... Archduke! Please don't address me like that, I get shivers... you can call me by my name as usual..."

Nytheria was the one who answered this time. "No, Silas. We can't do that. It is a rule of the families... we can't just change it like this."

Silas gritted his teeth. He got angry at his own ancestor again.

Silas sighed, then said, "I'd like to take the next test."

His eyes became firm again. Nytheria became excited. After seeing that Silas could even perform the 9th form of the Valerius sword, she was thrilled. They also knew that Silas could use magic too...

And the Sylveria family was an ancient mage family.

Silas looked at the wolf beside him and said, "Can you help us get there?"

The wolf nodded while wagging its tail, stood up, and opened another space channel. Silas and everyone else entered the space channel with him.

When they appeared outside, they saw a beautiful ancient castle with the elements swirling around it.

But Silas frowned at the wolf. "Why didn't you enter the castle like last time..."

The next second he got surprised, he never imagined the wolf would answer him in his head through telepathy.

"Master! This castle is guarded by the Black Serpent. She will take you there... without her permission, I can't enter this castle."

His voice was like that of a young man.

Silas immediately looked at the wolf with wide eyes. "You can talk?"

The wolf nodded. "I can only talk through telepathy."

Silas nodded when Nytheria took out her family emblem. The emblem glowed with her power, and a snake as big as the giant form of the silver wolf came out of the castle... it was pitch black.

The wolf howled toward it, and the snake looked at him while the wolf told her everything.

The snake hissed, then shrank to the size of thirty feet, a silver star on its forehead.

She came to Silas, and in front of everyone, she coiled around him in a circle. Then she hissed at him gently. The mark on his hand burned, and one of the other circles filled with the snake mark — a coiled serpent with a star on its forehead appeared in the circle. Now his symbol was like one big triangle, and two of the circles at the triangle's points were filled with a silver wolf and a black serpent... and the other point was just a normal circle without anything inside.

Nytheria was dumbfounded. She immediately came toward Silas and took his hand. When she checked, she saw the serpent mark.

"Impossible! You're not a Sylveria. How could our guardian spirit choose you... without any reason..."

She looked toward the snake, but the snake completely ignored her, then turned small enough to slither onto Silas's arm... and wrapped around his wrist and became a small bracelet.

The wolf grinned in Silas's mind, "Master! Congratulations, she also accepted you as her master..."

Silas was dumbfounded now too. He didn't know why this little snake had also chosen him... then he remembered his mother, and Nytheria also remembered something and looked at Lysandra.

She murmured, "Lysandra! Her blood is also running through your body... so you're carrying both bloodlines. That's why! That's why she chose you..."

Varric on the side chuckled awkwardly, "It is funny to imagine a single person who was chosen by both family guardians... now he can control both family forces without talking to anyone..."

Before he finished, Lucian commented from the side, "Be careful, Silas is going to the next test at your place... if he is chosen by your guardian spirit too... then..."

Varric's throat went dry instantly. He looked at his son Cedric and asked, "The family spirit isn't going to choose him, right?"

His son, already dumbfounded, shook his head and said, "Who knows? Have you ever heard of anyone who was acknowledged by both family spirits together before...?"

Varric looked at Silas again with a gentle worry in his head.

Silas, on the other side, felt happy. That he could now control both family forces meant his own power had increased again.

He looked at the serpent on his arm and said, "Can you take me to your testing area?"

A gentle girl's voice echoed in his head, "Master, don't worry. I'll take you there immediately..."

Silas chuckled as another space channel appeared in front of them. They all entered the space channel to appear before a beautiful garden.

Many elemental beings were running in this garden, beautiful flowers were blooming everywhere... this was a completely different kind of beautiful than their own castle.

A beautiful wooden pavilion stood tall in one direction, and in the other direction a stone stele was waiting for them... seven elements surrounded the stele completely — water, wind, ice, fire, lightning, space, and light.

Silas looked at the beautiful elements. His own five divine elements resonated with the stele... and five elements immediately came toward him — space, lightning, water, wind, and ice.

Nytheria and the others became dumbfounded. Before, they knew that Silas could only use two elements, and they were both divine affinity space and lightning.

But what were they seeing now? Five out of seven elements surrounded him all at once.

Nytheria asked in a shaky voice, "Silas! You can control five divine elements?"

Silas nodded nonchalantly, but the blood of everyone standing beside him froze.

Cassian gulped, and even Lysandra was dumbfounded.

Auren, Elara, Isolde, and Cedric all had weird smiles on their faces... even if Silas suddenly declared he was a god now, they'd believe it nonchalantly.

On the other side, Nytheria, Lucian, Selene, and Varric's faces turned grim instantly. Only in ancient times could their ancestors control several divine elements together, and now they were seeing someone in this generation who could do that.

Nytheria looked at the stele and then remembered that they hadn't shown their respect yet. They immediately bowed toward the stone stele and said together, "Greetings, Ancestor Sylveria."

Silas also bowed this time. Then after standing up, he came toward the stone and put his hand over it. The stone stele was supposed to choose your elemental affinity and give you the spells according to it.

Silas chuckled in his mind. He used the same technique as before.

"Analyse!"

The surroundings changed. Silas and the two guardian spirits appeared in a completely different place. They stood beside the stele while a young, beautiful girl wearing a mage's uniform stood before it.

She looked toward Silas, and then at the Black Serpent and the wolf. The wolf growled at her, while the snake hissed.

She chuckled too, just like the Valerius ancestor before.

She said to Silas, "I don't know why he asked me to wait for you... but I can see you can use five elements..."

This time Silas didn't let her continue. He asked seriously, "Who is 'he' you're talking about? Last time my ancestor said the same thing to me..."

The girl answered, "Don't try to know about him yet. You'll know when you meet him..." A grin spread on her face.

She continued, "Then let me show you the five divine-level spells of Sylveria for the five elements... In my time I was the strongest mage in the world... sigh!" She sighed, and was about to show him the spells when Silas asked,

"Can you show me all of your spells? I mean, even the other two elemental spells too?"

The girl frowned. "What are you going to do by seeing them? Let me tell you, descendant, elemental affinity can't be changed no matter what..."

But to her surprise Silas just chuckled. "I just want to see them. Can you do that?"

The girl nodded this time, but the frown stayed on her face. "Then let me show you my 7 elemental spells..."

She slammed her huge staff into the ground. The surroundings changed while 7 great magical circles appeared in front of her, and then 7 spells lit up the sky. A terrifying pressure swept through the area and everything vanished. Silas and the spirits woke up in the real world.

[ Ding! ]

[ Congratulations, host. You've gained two new divine affinities: Light and Fire. ]

A huge smile appeared on his mouth. He looked at the stele, then pushed seven elemental forces from his body.

What happened next was simple.

The stele, which had been quiet for thousands of years, cracked with light. First one color, then two, then all seven — water blue, wind green, ice white, fire red, lightning purple, space silver, and light gold.

They didn't just glow. They flew out of the stone and circled around Silas like they had found their owner.

The seven elements spun around him once, twice, then slammed straight into his palm.

A voice appeared directly in Silas's head. "How did you do that? I just checked, and you didn't have any affinity for the other elements..."

She almost came out of the stele when Silas just chuckled and said without any fear, "Everyone has secrets, right, Ancestor Sylveria? You also didn't tell me anything about that person yet... tell me, and I'll tell you about mine."

She gritted her teeth. Silas could hear that teeth-gritting sound.

She suddenly said in an annoyed tone, "Fine! Don't tell me, then. I'll just see what you do next..."

The next second, the stele glowed like the last time. Everyone kneeled before the stele while only Silas was left standing.

"Seven divine elemental resonance.

Bloodline — pure.

Elemental affinity — pure divine affinity."

"As the First Ancestor of Sylveria, I acknowledge Silas Valerius as a true Sylverian."

"Granting you the title, 'Argent Spirit Sovereign.' As you can control both spirits, your old title can no longer be used, and I am bestowing this new title upon you."

Silas looked coldly at the stele. These old ancient fossils were all cunning and sly. He gritted his teeth while a gentle light entered Silas's body and made his bloodline even more purer.
