Chapter 5 — The Shadow in the Forest
The sound coming from the forest grew louder
Heavy footsteps crushed dry branches and leaves as something massive slowly moved through the darkness between the trees The ground trembled slightly with each step
No one spoke
Every player stood ready
Akira moved slightly forward his eyes fixed on the shadows
"Stay sharp" he said calmly
Axel Hatanaki cracked his neck and smiled like someone who had been waiting for this moment
"Looks like the warm up is over"
Murasaki raised one hand slowly as faint purple energy gathered around her fingers Her eyes never left the forest
Aaron Moses stepped to the front like a wall protecting the others
Sharky Bee quietly moved to the side positioning himself where he could attack from behind
Mikochi leaned forward slightly with excitement shining in his eyes
Kuro remained calm but his stance changed just enough to show he was ready
Kyoshiki took a slow breath and focused on the movement inside the forest
Joel and Monk Fish stepped closer to the front line as well
Everyone could feel it
Something stronger was approaching
Behind them Zanaki grinned
"Well this world really doesn't waste time"
But another voice spoke calmly behind the group
"Keep fighting"
Everyone turned for a brief moment
Kataki was standing a little distance away half hidden near the stones and trees
His eyes were not on the players
He was staring directly at the jungle
"The fight isn't over yet"
His voice was calm but certain
Akira looked toward the forest again and nodded slightly
"Everyone ready"
Then suddenly the trees burst apart
A massive monster charged out of the forest
It looked like a giant armored beast with thick dark skin and glowing red eyes Its claws tore through the ground as it rushed forward with terrifying speed
The monster roared loudly
The sound shook the air
"Move!" Akira shouted
The players instantly scattered
The monster slammed into the ground where they had been standing just seconds earlier creating a deep crater
Axel Hatanaki rushed forward first
"Let's go!
He jumped and punched the monster's head with full force. The impact echoed through the forest but the monster barely moved
Aaron Moses stepped in next
He grabbed one of the creature's horns and forced it sideways with raw strength
Murasaki raised both hands and released a burst of purple energy that struck the monster's side
The creature roared angrily
Sharky Bee ran behind it looking for a weak spot while Mikochi attacked quickly to distract it
Kuro moved like a shadow
In a flash he struck the monster's leg forcing it to stumble slightly
Kyoshiki followed immediately with a precise strike to its shoulder
Joel rushed forward and delivered a powerful blow while Monk Fish attacked with controlled movements aimed at its balance
The monster roared again and swung its massive claws wildly
The battle became chaotic
But the players did not panic
They moved like warriors who understood combat
Behind them Zanaki laughed and jumped into the fight
"That's it everyone!
He struck the monster hard and pushed it back before it could hit Mikochi
"Don't die on me!
Meanwhile far behind the battlefield Kataki watched quietly
He didn't move
He didn't join the battle
His eyes simply followed every movement of the players
Their strengths
Their weaknesses
Their teamwork
Everything was information
The monster roared again and the fight continued
And deeper inside the forest something else was already watching them
