Chapter 45 — Forging Identities

Von-Ra hovered above New York, his piercing gaze sweeping over the city streets. From this height, he observed the organized chaos of the metropolis, noting traffic patterns, street layouts, and the ideal locations for a foundation of Krypton on Earth. In this reality, New York was the axis of human influence—a center where every conflict, every power struggle, would inevitably converge.

Koryn followed closely, his arms crossed. "My King… as much as this world is young and chaotic, I can sense the pulse of it. Its life force… it is unrefined, yet potent."

Von-Ra's lips pressed into a thin line. "Yes. The humans here are fragile compared to us… yet their potential is undeniable." And he said internally as an Earthling soul in my past life, a lingering conviction remains—I wish to protect this world, even in small ways. Though my primary duty is now to rebuild Krypton's foundation here, these two responsibilities may intersect.

Von-ra nodded to himself. "Protecting Earth aligns with your vision of Krypton's resurgence. Their survival is necessary for my plans."

Von-Ra's gaze lingered on a large swath of land. "This area… sufficient space, well-connected. The soil is fertile, the terrain stable. This will be the start of our foundation. But first… we require valid identities in this world. Without them, we are outsiders, exposed."

Koryn smirked. "Shall we subdue these mortals to solve your problem instantly?"

Von-Ra's expression darkened slightly. "No. Patience. The subtle approach will be more… effective. And coincidentally, Hell's Kitchen is nearby. Perfect for forging identities in the shadows."

"Let's go, Koryn. We will go to Hell's Kitchen to forge our legal identity in this world," Von-Ra said, descending toward the streets.

"First, we need money," Koryn replied. "We have gold with us. Let's sell it first to fetch funds."

The duo approached a modest building labeled "Gold & Currency Exchange." Inside, a lady behind the counter greeted them.

"Hello, sir. What can I help you with?" she asked politely.

Von-Ra placed the gold on the counter. "We have gold here. How much per gram?"

After a brief calculation, the lady informed them of the going rate.

(AN: I didn't dwell in this exchange, I don't know anything about gold exchange procedures)

"Come again, sir," she added.

"We will. Thank you for your service," Von-Ra replied, his tone formal.

With their funds secured, Ruby's holographic form appeared.

"Master, I have pinpointed the location that can forge legal IDs," she said.

Von-Ra looked at her. "Where?"

"In the alley near the corner, master. Look for the black cat logo displayed outside," Ruby instructed.

The two approached the alley, its walls covered with graffiti and dimly lit by flickering lanterns. A figure emerged from the shadows—a man who radiated sharp intelligence and streetwise authority.

"Good morning. We are here to request legal identity. We are immigrants from UK. Due to the ongoing conflict in Europe, we were forced to leave our country," Von-Ra said, projecting calm composure.

The broker analyzed them carefully, suspicion in his gaze. Golden eyes, crimson hair. Nothing like just any red headed in European countries.

"You don't strike me as European," he muttered.

Von-Ra smiled faintly. "I've heard that response a lot before. Is it possible, then?"

The broker relaxed, professionalism returning. "Yes. Not easy, but doable. Give me your basic information and that of your companion. It will take only a few minutes."

Von-Ra handed over the data.

"It will cost a lot. Invading government servers to input your legal information or anyone is difficult these days. The country is on high alert specially in their system due to escalating tensions," the broker warned.

(AN: ruby can do that, I know. But what is the challenge on that? Ruby is All powerful AI. But I will not let ruby take all the task. The story will become boring)

"Money is not a problem. Proceed as planned," Von-Ra replied firmly.

Minutes later, the documents were complete. Von-Ra reviewed his own.

The broker leaned back and extended his hand. "Is there any concern regarding your identities? By the way, I'm William Doyle."

Von-Ra accepted the handshake. "All is good. Even better. Call me Von, Von Archea, and this is my butler, Koryn Smith."

The broker raised an eyebrow. "Oh, a young butler… The way you talk and act, you seem like some nobility or royalty."

Von-Ra's voice softened, tinged with memory. "Oh… yes. At one point, I was. Almost all of my family lineage perished during World War I. Only my father escaped and rebuilt his family in UK. But Europe is in turmoil, so we left early."

William Doyle's expression softened. "I'm sorry to hear that. Call me if you need help."

Von-Ra's eyes gleamed with authority. "I do need help. I need a lawyer specializing in purchasing a large plot of land. I plan to remain in America permanently."

William nodded. "I'll give you his contact information."

"Thank you. You've been a big help. Should you ever need assistance, you can call on me," Von-Ra said, bowing slightly before leaving with Koryn.

inside, as he saw the two young lad disappear into the horizon.

William Doyle whispered, almost to herself, "What a confident young man. That commanding aura is no joke… Better not provoke him. My instincts tell me… if I had not entertained that man, I would have been in trouble. I survive through WW1 and to this hellish slum because of my instinct, my gut never fails me in terms of survival"

(AN: Hell's Kitchen was just a slum at this time. The reason Hell's Kitchen became a den of thieves by the time Matt Murdock—Daredevil—rose there was because of World War I. Refugees from different races and countries took shelter here, creating chaos and a rule of survival of the fittest. Government laws and systems did not fully reach this place. In the end, only the strong survived.)

Von-Ra, scanning the city, smirked faintly. "Hell's Kitchen is only the beginning. The foundation of Krypton on Earth starts now."
