Chapter 168 - Chapter 168 You Are Surrounded

For the next experiment, Harry needed this instrument to be able to use the gravitational waves generated by the Celestial Convergence to actively pull on space, creating a certain degree of tearing effect.

But the energy required was quite massive; only when a phenomenon like the Celestial Convergence occurred would there be such an opportunity.

This chaotic action would produce immense destructive power, but the act of tearing space-time would very likely trigger a chain reaction—just like a chain reaction.

"Are we really going to conduct this research?" Selvig asked uncertainly.

In the clock tower, everyone wore solemn expressions—only the newcomer, Daisy, and her intern looked completely bewildered.

Daisy asked, "What research? So what exactly are you all doing?"

Harry explained with a relaxed expression, "A type of gravity weapon. Right now, 78 Peak Gravity Testers have been deployed around the observatory—perhaps they should be called Peak Gravity Distortion Meters now. We only need a beacon, and the energy generated by the Celestial Convergence will gather at the designated location."

"So what will happen then?" Daisy asked, stunned for a moment.

Harry tossed the beacon in his hand and said, "Space-time distortion—or even tearing."

"And no one knows what will happen after a hole is torn in space-time—though some have predicted the existence of such celestial bodies capable of tearing space-time."

Such celestial bodies are black holes, and at this point in time, no one had actually observed a black hole.

Hearing this, Daisy and her little intern were terrified: that meant once the weapon was activated, this thing could have the same effect as a black hole?

Seeing their expressions, Selvig explained, "However, according to my calculations, it will at most cause the matter within the designated space to collapse, it won't..."

"Collapse?" Daisy screamed as if she had seen a ghost, "Just collapse? I mean, isn't this a bit too dangerous?"

Harry nodded, "It is, and not just 'a bit', it's extremely dangerous. Theoretically, the destruction caused by these distortion meters could only be withstood by a white dwarf-level celestial body, but the advantage is that the distortion point can be controlled within a designated space."

"The beacon contains Gravitonium with a diameter of nearly one meter, used to stabilize the distortion range."

Taking out so much Gravitonium at once made Harry's heart tremble, and even his hands shook slightly.

Daisy hurriedly pressed down on Harry's hand; it would be hilarious if this thing accidentally fell to the ground.

"According to our calculations, the distortion field generated by this weapon is about 3 meters in diameter, which is theoretically safe," Harry said. "And I don't intend to test it directly, just use it as an insurance policy. You haven't forgotten what the Aliens did to New York last time, have you?"

Everyone immediately fell silent.

Having had the experience of being invaded once, Norman was now reaching a consensus with other countries on a global scale: promoting the Alien threat theory.

Norman had reached a series of treaties with them, such as helping him digest the financial crisis, but someone had to take the blame for it, right? Who to pin it on? Definitely the Aliens!

Besides, the Aliens really did deserve to take the blame; they just conveniently attributed some pre-existing issues to them as well.

"But Aliens aren't necessarily bad people, right? Like Thor?" Daisy said uncertainly.

Harry was just about to answer her question when her phone rang. Harry knew he didn't need to waste energy explaining anymore and signaled for her to answer the phone first.

"Jane? You're back? And Thor? We're here in Greenwich. Erik said this is some kind of Celestial Convergence focal point or something?"

Jane hurriedly made the call and just as hurriedly hung up, leaving Daisy looking bewildered.

"She said she's bringing Thor over and told us to be careful?"

Harry looked at the reading meter in his hand. Selvig and Otto said simultaneously, "There's an anomaly on the surface of the Thames—something is passing through a wormhole to our side!"

As soon as the words fell, the ground shook violently. On the surface of the Thames, a T-shaped space warship appeared out of thin air!

Harry, while operating his personal terminal, said, "That thing doesn't look like a good Alien, does it?"

Without the film's narration of the cause and effect, in the eyes of Harry and the others who had been on Earth the whole time, this event happened very abruptly. Everyone's mouths were agape.

Fortunately, the Greenwich Observatory was already closed, and there were no civilians here.

Dr. Otto's claws clattered as they carried him in. What should they do now?

"Aliens again? What do we do!" A few ordinary people panicked. Although they were all doctors of astrophysics, at this moment, they could only look to Harry.

"I'll call MI6 and the Prime Minister first to see if they need military support, and also Osborn's private military contractors."

Everyone wore a "Are you kidding me?" expression upon hearing this, but Harry could only shrug—after all, his status was very special: Chairman of the Oscorp, advisor to the Hammer, advisor to the Space Resource Development Department, and so on.

However, the next moment, British officials called first: "Mr. Osborn, we have already dispatched fighter jets. Please ensure your personal safety. We—"

Harry looked up at the sky; two Typhoon fighter jets roared past.

"Target confirmed, you are cleared to engage—"

"Received, missile has locked onto target, firing."

The missile was launched, but a hole was suddenly torn open in the sky. The gravity from another Planet interfered with the fighter jets and the missile's flight path, and they began to stall!

"Missile off target! I've lost control! Mayday, mayday!"

Whoosh—

The fighter jet passed through the breach and vanished without a trace. There was silence on the other end of the phone.

Harry looked at his watch and said, "The Celestial Convergence has caused the situation here to be somewhat complex, so do you require support? I am asking you now in the name of the Hammer advisor and the Osborn military contracting company, Mr. Prime Minister."

"Please help us stop these Aliens."

Having received permission, Harry smiled.

"They will be here immediately; you won't be disappointed, Mr. Prime Minister."

As soon as the words fell, hundreds of drop pods carrying trails of flames pierced through the clouds. Everyone looked up in anticipation.

Boom!

Thor descended from the sky and landed in front of Malekith.

Malekith swaggered out of the ship: "You didn't need to run so far, Heavenly Palace warrior. The God of Death will visit you soon."

Thor, holding Mjolnir in his hand, walked step by step toward Malekith and his soldiers: "I will not die at your hands."

No one noticed the meteor that had just streaked across the sky; both of them thought it was a natural phenomenon.

At this moment, a green Flyer entered the battlefield and hovered above their heads:

"Well said, son of Odin, but this is Earth, so it's better if I say that."

Dozens of Flyers appeared in the sky. Frank and his squad slid out from above the building, and Hammer Agents swarmed in from all directions, the armor on their bodies emitting a red glow.

Finally, Bronski, clad in black armor, walked out from the crowd.

"You are surrounded. Drop your weapons, Aliens."
