Chapter 45: The Departure of Lord Rama
Many years passed after Sita returned to Mother Earth.
Under the rule of Lord Rama, Ayodhya remained a land of peace, justice, and righteousness. The people lived happily, and Rama Rajya became the ideal of perfect kingship.
Lava and Kusha had grown into wise and courageous princes.
Rama entrusted them with the responsibility of carrying forward the noble traditions of the Ikshvaku dynasty.

The Arrival of Time
One day, Kala (Time) appeared before Rama in the form of a divine messenger.
He brought a message from Lord Brahma.
"O Rama, your mission on Earth has been fulfilled. You descended to destroy Ravana, protect Dharma, and guide humanity. The time has now come to return to your eternal abode."
Rama accepted the message peacefully.
He knew that every incarnation has an appointed end.

Lakshmana's Great Sacrifice
Kala had made one condition: while speaking with Rama, no one should interrupt their conversation. If anyone did, that person would have to be abandoned according to Dharma.
Rama instructed Lakshmana to guard the entrance.
During the meeting, the great sage Durvasa arrived and demanded to see Rama immediately. He warned that if he was denied entry, he would curse Ayodhya.
Lakshmana faced an impossible choice.
He could obey Rama's command and allow Ayodhya to be cursed...
Or interrupt the meeting and sacrifice himself.
Choosing the welfare of the kingdom over his own life, Lakshmana entered the chamber and informed Rama of Durvasa's arrival.
Rama received the sage with honor, and the kingdom was saved.
But the condition given by Kala had been broken.
With a heavy heart, Rama fulfilled Dharma.
Lakshmana accepted his fate without complaint.
He went to the banks of the sacred Sarayu River, entered deep meditation, and gave up his mortal body. The gods welcomed him as the eternal Shesha, the divine serpent upon whom Lord Vishnu rests.
The separation from Lakshmana brought immense sorrow to Rama.
His beloved brother, who had stood beside him from childhood through exile and war, had completed his earthly mission.

Rama's Final Decision
After Lakshmana's departure, Rama knew that his own time had also arrived.
He crowned Kusha as the ruler of Kosala and Lava as the ruler of Uttara Kosala, ensuring the continuation of the royal lineage.
He then announced to the people of Ayodhya that he would leave the earthly world.
The citizens wept.
They begged their beloved king not to leave them.
Hanuman fell at Rama's feet.
"My Lord, I cannot live without you."
Rama smiled with compassion.
"Hanuman, remain on Earth as long as my name is remembered. Wherever the Ramayana is recited with devotion, you shall be present, blessing my devotees."
Hanuman accepted the command with folded hands.
Vibhishana also came before Rama.
Rama blessed him.
"Rule Lanka with justice until the end of this age."
Jambavan, Sugriva, and the Vanaras offered their final respects.

The Return to the Divine Abode
Rama walked toward the sacred Sarayu River.
Bharata and Shatrughna walked beside him.
Many citizens of Ayodhya followed their king, unwilling to be separated from him.
Standing upon the riverbank, Rama folded his hands and looked toward the sky.
His earthly mission was complete.
Slowly, he entered the holy waters of the Sarayu.
At that sacred moment, the heavens filled with divine light.
The gods, sages, Gandharvas, and celestial beings gathered in the sky.
As Rama entered the waters, he revealed his eternal form as Lord Vishnu, the Preserver of the Universe.
Bharata and Shatrughna also departed from the earthly world, returning to their eternal divine forms.
The celestial world rejoiced.
Flowers rained from the heavens.
The sound of divine conches echoed across the universe.
Thus ended the earthly incarnation of Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of Lord Vishnu.
Though his human life had come to an end, his teachings, his righteousness, and his example became eternal.

The Eternal Legacy
The story of Rama is not merely the story of a king.
It is the story of truth over falsehood.
Duty over desire.
Compassion over hatred.
Humility over pride.
The Valmiki Ramayana teaches that Dharma may demand sacrifice, but it ultimately leads to justice and peace.
Wherever Rama's name is spoken with devotion...
Wherever the Ramayana is recited...
Wherever Dharma is upheld...
Lord Rama lives forever in the hearts of humanity.
