Chapter 96 - jayfer date

Chapter Ninety-Three: The Date

The morning after Akshi and Chethan's reunion, the mansion was buzzing.

Not with tension anymore—with relief. With joy. With the kind of energy that comes after a storm finally passes.

Akshi and Chethan were attached at the hip, making up for lost time. Shreya and Mithun watched them with amused smiles. Keiran ran around with Rex and Ganesha, happy that "everyone is friends again."

Jay sat at the kitchen table, coffee in hand, watching the chaos.

Keifer sat beside her. "Hey."

"Hey."

"Everyone's okay."

"Yeah."

"The house is calm. For once."

"For now."

He took her hand. "So I was thinking..."

"Always dangerous."

He smiled. "We haven't had a date in forever. Just us. No chaos. No family. No interruptions."

She raised an eyebrow. "Are you asking me out, Mr. Watson?"

"I am, Mrs. Watson."

She pretended to consider. "Hmm. I don't know. I'm pretty busy being a wife and mother and sister and—"

He kissed her hand. "Please?"

She melted. "Fine. When?"

"Tonight. I already arranged everything."

"You arranged everything?"

"Keigan's on Keiran duty. The India crew has strict instructions to behave. The restaurant is booked. The car is ready."

She stared at him. "You planned all this?"

"I want to romance my wife."

"That's... actually really sweet."

"I have my moments."

---

By evening, Jay was ready.

She'd borrowed a dress from Shreya—deep blue, elegant, perfect. Akshi had done her hair. Rakii had taken approximately fifty pre-date photos.

"You look beautiful," Shreya said.

"Stunning," Akshi agreed.

"Keifer's going to lose his mind," Mithun added calmly.

Jay laughed. "Thanks, everyone."

Keiran tugged her hand. "Mamma, where are you going?"

"On a date with Pappa, baby."

"What's a date?"

"It's when two people who love each other spend special time together. Just the two of them."

"Oh." Keiran considered this. "Can Rex come?"

"Not this time, baby. This is just for Mamma and Pappa."

"Rex says okay. But you have to bring us something."

"Deal."

---

Keifer was waiting in the living room.

He looked up when she walked in.

His jaw dropped.

"Jay."

"Too much?"

"Not enough. Never enough."

She smiled. "Smooth."

"Truthful."

He offered his arm. "Shall we?"

"We shall."

---

The restaurant was intimate. Candlelit. Private.

Their table overlooked the city lights.

"This is beautiful," Jay whispered.

"Not as beautiful as you."

"That's cheesy."

"Your cheesy."

They ordered wine. Talked for hours.

About everything. About nothing.

About the baby they'd lost. About the grief that still lingered. About the future they were building.

"I'm sorry," she said quietly. "For the fight. For the slap. For all of it."

"Stop apologizing."

"I hurt you."

"You were hurting. There's a difference."

"I still shouldn't have—"

He took her hand. "We're here now. That's what matters."

She squeezed back. "I love you."

"I love you too. More than everything."

---

After dinner, they walked along the waterfront.

The stars were bright. The city hummed quietly in the distance.

"Remember when we first met?" she asked.

"You fainted on a sidewalk."

"I did NOT faint. I had a moment."

"A moment where you collapsed in my arms."

"Same thing."

He laughed. "Best moment of my life."

"Really?"

"Really. You changed everything."

She stopped walking. Faced him.

"You changed me too. Made me believe in love again. Made me believe in family. Made me—"

He kissed her.

Soft. Sweet. Full of years of love.

When they broke apart, she was crying.

"Happy tears?"

"The happiest."

---

They got home late.

The mansion was quiet. Everyone asleep.

They crept upstairs, hand in hand.

Checked on Keiran. Rex and Ganesha on guard duty.

Went to their room.

"Best date ever," she whispered.

"The best."

"I love you."

"I love you too."

They fell asleep wrapped in each other.

Finally at peace.

---

The next morning, the kitchen was chaos again.

Percy had arrived early. "DATE NIGHT! HOW WAS IT? DETAILS!"

Honey pulled him back. "Percy, let them breathe."

"I NEED DETAILS!"

Jay smiled. "It was perfect."

"THAT'S NOT ENOUGH!"

"It's all you're getting."

Keiran ran in. "Mamma! Pappa! Did you bring us something?"

Jay pulled out a small box. "For Rex and Ganesha. Tiny bow ties. Matching."

Keiran gasped. "REX! GANESHA! LOOK!"

Rex and Ganesha seemed thrilled.

The mansion filled with laughter.

Normal. Chaotic. Perfect.
