"Daphne's been giving Draco the cold shoulder for years! He's obsessed with her and Daphne just waves him off. Draco's got money sure, but no substance. He's just kind of rotten to the core." Tracey says, putting her hands behind her head.
The trio make it to the rest of the group and Flitwick is shocked at how many of them there are. "Ten of you? And from all four houses? Looks like the spirit of inter-house cooperation is alive again! 5 points to each house!"
"Doesn't giving points to all the houses effectively mean no points are given to any house?" Hermione asks.
"Probably Miss Granger, but I'm so excited I can't help myself. Now come along, and apologies for my speed. I do have quite short legs." Flitwick says, before the dectet follow him through the doors of the great hall.
The Sphinx club room is on the third floor of the castle, opposite of the forbidden corridor. The room is very large and sparsely decorated, with only a few bookcases and tables in the massive room. Two large stained glass windows are present, and look out towards the Black Lake. One of which has designs of the moon present, the other of which seems to represent some early level charm spells. The ceiling of this room is roughly 9 meters tall, and adds to the simple grand size of the room.
"You should be able to do quite a bit in here! Study, practice spells, maybe even a game of Gobstones! Oh ho what fun! You will of course be required to be back in your common rooms before curfew. I'll see if we can have Filch put a clock in here to help remind you of the time. If you find you need something in here, please do let myself or Professor McGonagall know. We were formerly the Professors who handled this club, so this new meeting of yours will be our responsibility. You have two hours now until curfew, please do enjoy! I recommend leaving half an hour early, just in case." Flitwick then flicks his spell to a wall, and an image of a clock appears. "This should work for tonight. If we don't have a clock spare in the school, I'll find a more permanent solution."
The ten students then began to rearrange the space to be more useful for them, moving a few of the couches into a 7/8ths circle, with a collection of tables in the middle. With their remaining time, everyone in the dectet introduces themselves to everyone else and have a brief conversation on what classes they are the most excited about. At 30 'till 9 however, Flitwick's magical clock lets out a series of chimes, and the group packs up to return to their common room.
As the Ravenclaw trio re-enter their common room, Harry flashes a smile to his two friends, who return it with similar smiles of their own. This is the start of something great, and they can all feel it.
Harry had few issues for the remainder of the week. His Wednesday classes had gone smoothly, with Professor Flitwick praising Harry for his quick mastery of Flipendo, as he had managed something very few first-year students had, he had managed to completely overwhelm the training dummy's self-righting charm and flipped the dummy on its head. That had awarded Harry twenty points for Ravenclaw, and applause from both the Gryffindors and the Ravenclaws. After that not even the back to back classes with Slytherins, Defense Against the Dark Arts and Potions, could bring Harry down. He had ended up being so wired, that he couldn't even nap before his midnight Astronomy lesson, and mildly regretted that the next morning. Thankfully the class had still been on the Flipendo spell for their next Charms class that morning, and Harry could secretly rest while pretending to study ahead. Friday's double of Potions class in the morning had them brew Wiggenweld Potion, which was supposedly useful as an energizing potion. Harry managed to brew one that Snape considered "adequate'', Daphne Greengrass however said that his potion was great.
With their Friday afternoons free of classes, the dectet of friends once more found themselves in the Sphinx Club room, where Professor Flitwick had procured them a clock. "Oh! It's good to be free of classes for the week. I'm liking what we're learning, but this break is nice." Harry says, stretching out over one of the couches.
"Yeah, especially after your double potions this morning. Can't believe Snape didn't award points for your potion, it was at least as good as mine!" Daphne says, sitting with Tracey on one of the other couches.
"Snape seems to have it out for Harry and Neville in particular," Hannah says. "Neville got so nervous because Snape was hovering over him he over-stirred and lost his eyebrows when the cauldron exploded! Snape deducted seventeen points for it too, he's the only professor that doesn't do multiples of five."
"You might not like him guys, but it's Professor Snape." Hermione says from her position next to Padma, nose deep in 'A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration'.
"I know you're right Hermione but I hate it." Lavender says from her seat next to Parvati.
"I wonder what I did to make him mad anyway, the first day he laid down what were apparently some later-year questions about Potions to me. I still don't get that." Harry says, getting a few books out of his bag.
"Who knows?" Susan says, getting her own materials out. "Do you guys want to do a group study session for a bit? I know we're on break from classes, but I could use some help with that Herbology assignment Professor Sprout gave us."
"Oh, what's your assignment? I can help with Herbology." Neville says, pulling out 'One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi'.
"She's having us write about what uses there are for Spiky Bush, and how best to cultivate it." Susan says, flipping to the appropriate page in her copy.
