On the Swordfish, in Duke's cabin.
Gurgle, gurgle, gurgle.....
The boiling Water in the glass kettle constantly bubbled, and steam escaped from the spout. Duke also used special tweezers to put the tea leaves into the teacup.
He picked up the kettle, aimed the spout at the teacup, and the scalding hot Water fell into the cup, steeping the tea leaves.
"An elder I know once told me that no matter what you're doing, there's always time for a cup of tea!"
Duke put down the kettle, placed the teacup on the table in front of Miss Fortune Sarah, pulled over a chair, and locked its clasp to prevent it from swaying due to the ship's rocking.
Sitting on the chair, Duke placed his right hand on the table, holding the teacup. With his left hand, he took out various snacks and pastries from his inventory, filling the entire table.
"What do you think?"
"Bilgewater people don't have that much leisure!"
Miss Fortune picked up a pastry, looked at the jam filling, and then put it back on the plate.
"Nor do they waste so much time on these irrelevant things. Spirits, roasted meat, and Golden Krakens. That's all there is to Bilgewater people!"
"Time, well, it's like Water in a sponge; if you squeeze it, there's always some!"
Duke was not at all bothered by Miss Fortune's barbed remarks. He looked at the tea leaves floating and sinking in the teacup and remained silent for a while. Miss Fortune surveyed the surrounding decorations and suddenly said, "You don't seem to be merely a scientific research vessel!"
"How could we not be?"
Duke shrugged his shoulders. Miss Fortune said, "That kid hiding behind you might be a pure craftsman, but you are not!"
"I know the look of a pure craftsman's eyes. Besides passion for their work and pure love for their creations, there's nothing else mixed in!"
"But you're different!"
Miss Fortune's arm rested on the table, her body leaning slightly forward: "There's something else hidden in your eyes!"
"Don't joke, Sarah. I know very well what kind of person I am. I'm just a scientist and craftsman who only buries himself in scientific research!"
"No craftsman would use such terrifying weapons!"
"If you create something, you can't just leave it in a corner to gather dust. Besides, if you make a weapon yourself and don't know how to use it, wouldn't that be a big joke?"
Duke wore a harmless smile. Seeing this, Miss Fortune couldn't help but inwardly click her tongue. This kid, despite his young age, was very seasoned in his actions and words, not revealing the slightest flaw.
It seemed impossible to trick information out of him to learn his purpose and identity.
"Alright, I'll temporarily believe that you are a scientific research vessel here for scientific experiments, but is there anything in Bilgewater that you can research?"
"This place is full of thugs, pirates, assassins, hooligans, and fugitives and wanderers from all over. Are you saying you want to do experiments in a slaughterhouse?"
Sarah pulled out a square-tipped cigar. This type of cigar had a spicy yet captivating flavor.
Seeing Sarah's actions, Duke took out cigar cutters, a lighter, and an ashtray from a drawer and pushed them across the table. Sarah, skillfully clipping one end of the cigar, held the lighter to roast the cigar and said casually, "Although you can control me, the actual power holders of Bilgewater are not to be trifled with!"
"Think about it, little guy, a scientific research vessel that traveled all the way from Piltover, carrying a large amount of precision equipment and excellent weapons. No matter who sees it, they'll want a bite."
Even if there's no meat to eat, there are still plenty of people who want a share of the soup!
"You..."
Sarah, with a square-headed cigar in her mouth, lit it, took a deep drag, exhaled a pungent smoke, and stared at Duke with misty eyes: "Can you handle it?"
"Otherwise, why do you think I went to such great lengths to invite you up?"
Duke chuckled, took out a piece of malt candy and put it in his mouth. Seeing this, Sarah raised an eyebrow, a mocking expression on her face: "Still eating candy, what a child!"
"In Bilgewater, children your age are already carrying knives and looking for a way to survive on the streets, either joining gangs or entering the slaughterhouse!"
