Ch81 In The Space, Achieving Water Freedom
"I have a tube of erythromycin ointment. Do you want to apply some to the wound?"
After Meng Ci and Shen Que finished cleaning the room, Meng Ci took a tube of erythromycin ointment from a medicine box and asked.
When stockpiling medicine earlier, Meng Ci had searched online to find out what ointment to apply after being exposed to acid rain.
The space held plenty of erythromycin ointment, and Meng Ci had originally intended to share it with everyone.
But then he thought: What if the teachers asked why he was stockpiling medicine? He wouldn't have an answer, so he kept it to himself.
As for Shen Que, Meng Ci's gut told him this guy wasn't dangerous.
Besides, Meng Ci was planning to win Shen Que over. With such a handsome face, what if he ended up with scars?
"Thanks." Shen Que took the ointment and applied it to his hand first.
"You can't see the wound on your face. Should I apply it for you?" Meng Ci conveniently skipped the part about getting a mirror.
Shen Que didn't refuse and handed the ointment back to Meng Ci.
"My pleasure."
Meng Ci squeezed some ointment onto his fingers and gently applied it to Shen Que's facial wounds.
Viewing him up close, Meng Ci couldn't help but marvel!
This guy Shen Que was undeniably handsome-that nose, those eyes, that mouth.
And even at this close distance, there were no blackheads or visible pores.
No wonder he'd been captivated by Shen Que.
Love was practically sprouting from his brain, yet a sliver of reason still clung to Meng Ci's mind.
Should Shen Que ever harbor Intentions to harm him, the grenade left unused at Bai Hu Hall would become Shen Que's final resting place.
As for Meng Ci, the moment that grenade was tossed, he'd dash into his spatial pocket, suffering not a single scratch.
"Not done yet?"
Shen Que thought, his face was only so big.
Meng Ci had been applying it for two whole minutes and still wasn't done-was he embroidering his face?
"Alright, alright!" Meng Ci applied the last bit of ointment to Shen Que's face and withdrew his hand.
Shen Que took the tube and bent down to continue applying ointment to his hand.
"Wait!" Meng Ci suddenly called out.
Shen Que was about to look up in confusion when Meng Ci stopped him.
"There's a small wound here." Meng Ci said, taking the ointment from Shen Que's hand and applying it to his neck.
It was just a tiny wound, but when Meng Ci noticed the mole on his neck, he couldn't help but gently press it before withdrawing his hand.
Seeing Shen Que show no reaction, he realized the other probably hadn't noticed the mole on his own neck.
So, could it be that only he knew about this mole?
After applying the ointment, Meng Ci showed no intention of returning the tube to Shen Que.
If Shen Que wanted to apply more tomorrow, he'd have to come find him-and then he could get another chance to get close.
Meng Ci silently applauded his own cleverness.
That evening, Meng Ci slipped the two glass jars onto the rooftop when no one was around, then set his alarm for seven the next morning.
A night of acid rain should be enough.
Sliding into his warm bed, Meng Ci opened his tablet, leaving the TV on for background noise while he played Tetris.
By ten o'clock, yawning, he set his phone aside and fell asleep.
The next day, Meng Ci rose promptly at seven, retrieved the two glass containers from the rooftop, and stored them in his spatial pocket. Returning home, he entered the pocket.
The two containers sat in the center of the space. Inside the room, Meng Ci frequently bathed here, consuming significant water. The vegetable garden area also required watering.
Meng Ci had no desire to haul water from one end to the other.
Perfectly, the two tanks could be placed one on each side.
The only question was how to turn this acid rain into pure water.
Right! Meng Ci scampered up to the third floor.
The wall must have a clue.
Sure enough, upon his arrival, the words on the wall had changed.
Dig a pit, pour in acid rain, and gain endless water.
The moment Meng Ci saw it, the line vanished instantly.
Wait, how could the text just disappear?
It's not like it's classified or anything.
Besides me, who else could possibly enter this space?
Who is it even guarding against? So petty.
Grumbling aside, Meng Ci grabbed a shovel and headed down to dig.
He dug a hole over fifty centimeters wide, but only about twenty centimeters deep.
Meng Ci stared at the glass tank, feeling stumped.
Not only was the tank surrounded by acid rain, but with his small frame, lifting it seemed nearly impossible.
Recalling that some spaces could be controlled by their owners, Meng Ci tried to mentally command the glass tank to tip itself into the pit.
After trying for a long time, nothing happened.
Resigned to his fate, Meng Ci found a glass cup and began pouring water into the hole cupby cup.
Fortunately, once the acid rain filled the bottom of the hole, Meng Ci heard the sound of water flowing.
Filled with anticipation, Meng Ci watched the pit he'd dug. Sure enough, water soon seeped up from the ground, quickly filling the hole.
The flow stopped precisely at the edge of the pit.
Meng Ci scooped some water out with a cup.
The pit refilled almost instantly.
He took a sip from the cup. The water was refreshingly sweet, with no off-flavors.
Meng Ci was pleased with this water source, but how could he connect it to the house?
Could the water flow directly into the house now that the pit existed?
Disconnecting the one-ton water tank and water heater, Meng Ci entered the house and turned on every faucet. Nothing came out.
With no other option, Meng Ci headed up to the roof.
Sure enough, words appeared on the wall again.
Want water in the house? Connect it yourself.
This line lingered stubbornly, as if taunting Meng Ci.
Meng Ci fumed.
"Seriously, everyone else's spaces are so smart. Why can't you do anything?"
Complaints aside, Meng Ci knew time was limited in the space. Resigned, he grabbed a hoe and dug a trench from the water pit to the house.
Fortunately, near the front door, he spotted a faucet.
He placed one end of the pipe in the pit, pulled the other end over, and connected it to the faucet. After turning on the water, Meng Ci entered the house.
Perfect. Now every corner of the house had water.
As he emerged to bury the pipe, Meng Ci couldn't help questioning whether this space was truly intelligent.
He could not call it smart, it required manual digging and pipe-laying.
It also could not be called dumb, Meng Ci had only connected the kitchen water source, yet the entire house now had access.
The hole vanished the instant Meng Ci finished connecting the pipe.
Fortunately, Meng Ci tested and found water still present indoors.
Had the water vanished, Meng Ci would have pointed at this space and cursed it out.
Exhausted and sweating, Meng Ci still remembered the vegetable patch lacked water.
He persisted to the garden area, digging a pit over a meter wide.
Later, he carried some acid rainwater to pour in, and the pit quickly filled.
Meng Ci found a basket, scooped some soil, and planted more vegetables nearby.
After handling these tasks, Meng Ci finally took a hot shower and exited the space.
