Chapter 88 - Ch88-Meng Ci, This Is My Secret

Ch88-Meng Ci, This Is My Secret

"There's more."

After showing Meng Ci the storage space, Shen Que paused briefly before continuing.

"When I reincarnated, I specifically printed a letter warning of the impending apocalypse and dropped it into the mayor's suggestion box."

To enhance the letter's credibility, Shen Que racked his brain for every detail he could recall.

Suddenly, inspiration struck Shen Que.

He recalled an event, down to the exact minute and second.

He recorded these details at the beginning of the letter precisely to prove his account was genuine.

Then, Shen Que picked up a pen and began meticulously outlining the various events and stories that would unfold after September 30th.

To ensure his own safety, Shen Que truly racked his brains and exhausted every possible method.

He specifically retrieved that mini printer he'd used back in school to print out his mistakes and printed out everything he'd written.

Upon completing this task, Shen Que promptly destroyed the printer without hesitation, to avoid leaving any traceable clues for others.

Having endured countless trials in his past life, Shen Que was agile and swift. He effortlessly evaded all surveillance cameras before carefully depositing the items into the mayor's suggestion box.

Whether this letter would be discovered and taken seriously by government officials, or even adopted, was now beyond Shen Que's control.

After speaking, Shen Que fixed Meng Ci with a sincere and resolute gaze.

"That is every secret I know," Shen Que stated earnestly.

Meng Ci nodded. "I believe you.

Besides, you have no reason to lie."

Shen Que had laid bare all his secrets, yet Meng Ci retained a sliver of restraint, choosing not to reveal his own story-crossing circumstances.

"Mhm."

Shen Que nodded, and for a moment, neither knew what to say next.

Then Meng Ci watched as the empty space in the living room suddenly filled with several sacks of rice and flour, two halves of pork, five halves of beef, boxes of instant noodles, sausages...

More items kept pouring out. Meng Ci hurriedly called out to him.

"Wait! Shen Que, what are you doing?!"

Shen Que replied, "Getting you some food."

"This space only stores food. The items inside just spoil slower than outside, so I didn't stock much perishable stuff."

Meng Ci nodded.

He wasn't a pig-what was the point of bringing out so much at once?

"Oh, right." Shen Que seemed to remember something, and moments later, a pile of latiao, melon seeds, and potato chips landed in Meng Ci's lap.

The sheer volume nearly buried Meng Ci.

"H-hold on."

"Enough, enough!"

Meng Ci felt that if he didn't stop him, Shen Que might genuinely bury him alive.

Shen Que quickly halted his hand, which had been tossing food out. He'd been so focused on the storage space that he hadn't noticed Meng Ci's plight at all.

Seeing Meng Ci's state now, he hurriedly helped remove the items from him.

Meng Ci sighed helplessly.

Apparently, Shen Que's exceptional kissing skills were likely due to some kind of innate talent.

Otherwise, with his usual approach, he'd probably been dumped long ago.

"Shen Que, put all this stuff into your storage space first," Meng Ci said helplessly, surveying the room overflowing with snacks.

Hearing this, Shen Que, who had just picked up a bag of potato chips ready to open it, froze.

"You don't like these..."

"No, no!" Meng Ci hastily waved his hands in explanation. "I love them! But my room is just too small. If you spread everything out, I won't even have room to stand."

As if afraid Shen Que wouldn't believe him, Meng Ci added, "Plus, snacks like these spoil easily if left exposed to air for too long."

"You should put them away quickly. I'll just ask you for them when I need them."

After hearing Meng Ci's explanation, Shen Que finally relaxed, nodding to show he understood.

After finishing this, Shen Que thought for a moment, then pulled out a few more bags of potato chips and spicy strips from his storage space, placing them on the sofa. He also grabbed a pack of Coke.

Meng Ci casually grabbed a bag of chips and tore it open, puzzled. "But you said these snacks aren't hygienic. Why are you stockpiling so many?"

Meng Ci recalled that when they'd gone shopping together before, Shen Que had mentioned spicy strips weren't good for you if eaten too often.

So why was this guy hoarding them?

"Don't you like them?" Shen Que countered.

Ever since learning Meng Ci had a particular fondness for these snacks, Shen Que had developed a new habit.

Whenever they went out shopping, if he came across any snacks, he would unhesitatingly stash them in his spatial pocket.

Meng Ci was overjoyed. He eagerly kicked off his cotton slippers, sat cross-legged on the sofa, and began happily devouring the delicious snacks.

Shen Que had long grown accustomed to Meng Ci's unique behavior. He silently picked up the kettle he usually used to heat cola, poured half a cup of cola into it, and then gently placed it on the stove.

"Knock knock knock!" A crisp series of knocks suddenly sounded at the door.

Meng Ci quickly pulled on her clothes and stepped out of the room alongside Shen Que.

Yun Jingcen stood before them, holding a piece of fragrant cured pork and a string of temptingly colored sausages.

"Teacher Yun," Meng Ci greeted her politely.

Yun Jingcen smiled and said, "Xinyu caused you trouble today. I truly appreciate your help. Please accept this small token of my gratitude."

With that, she offered the gifts to both of them.

"Thank you, Teacher Yun, but you're too kind," Meng Ci declined, "Teacher Yun, it's unnecessary."

"Since those guys have targeted us, they won't let us off easily. Helping Teacher Mao was just a small favor."

"You didn't need to come out of your way to thank us."

Yun Jingcen tried to say more, but Meng Ci cut her off.

"Teacher Yun, you don't need to call us along for tree-cutting trips anymore."

"Shen Que and I have enough firewood stockpiled."

Hearing this, Yun Jingcen immediately understood Meng Ci was drawing a line.

In the face of impending doom, everyone was on edge.

Meng Ci's words were clearly well-considered. Yun Jingcen respected his choice and made no attempt to persuade him.

She merely tried to hand the items she was holding back to Meng Ci and Shen Que.

The two refused to take them and eventually shut the door.

Yun Jingcen had no choice but to carry the items back herself.

It was now past three o'clock, and with nothing else to do, the two of them each grabbed a stool and began splitting firewood.

Meng Ci, now relying on Shen Que's presence, was blatantly slacking off.

Had someone told him before he entered this world that he'd become lazy, Meng Ci would never have believed it.

Blame it on the apocalypse-no work, no school, just holed up at home day after day. Slacking off was only natural.

"Knock knock knock."

Hearing the door knock, Meng Ci got up and opened it, finding Ruan Qing standing outside with red eyes.

"Gege."

"What's wrong?" Meng Ci didn't open the iron gate fully, just staring at Ruan Qing through the bars.
