Chapter 97 - Ch97-Meng Ci, Teach Me After You Study

Ch97-Meng Ci, Teach Me After You Study

"An ordinary novel?"

"If it's so ordinary, why not share it with everyone?"

"I'm genuinely curious-how could an ordinary novel make your cheeks flush like that?" Shen Que pressed relentlessly.

Meng Ci glanced at the flames in the stove and flung the pot onto it.

"It has nothing to do with the novel! The stove's fire is too hot!"

"Is that so?" Shen Que inquired.

"Yes, yes." Meng Ci assured him while silently apologizing to the stove in her mind.

"Then why not take off a couple of layers? You don't want to catch a cold from the heat." Shen Que suddenly suggested.

"No need to trouble you. I can manage myself." With that, Meng Ci began unbuttoning a sweater.

Setting the garment aside, Meng Ci glanced at Shen Que's face.

Only after confirming Shen Que showed no unusual reaction did she relax.

From that distance, perhaps Shen Que hadn't seen anything.

"The firewood ran out. Aren't you cold now?" Shen Que suddenly shifted closer to Meng Ci.

Meng Ci gave an awkward laugh. "Yeah, the temperature's just right now."

"But that's not how it's written in the novel."

Hearing this, Meng Ci looked at Shen Que in surprise, only to see his eyes glowing crimson.

Oh my god, Shen Que saw everything!

"Should we add more wood to the stove?" Shen Que suggested.

Meng Ci's mind went blank at the suggestion.

And in that blank moment, staring at the crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling, Meng Ci felt a twinge of confusion.

Why were there more and more of these crystal chandeliers?

Clang!

The crystal fell to the floor as Shen Que stood up.

"Well?"

"Compared to the novel you were reading."

Seeing Meng Ci snap back to reality, Shen Que narrowed his eyes slightly, a faint curve lifting the corners of his mouth.

The hot breath escaping his mouth was scorching and intense, as if it could burn skin.

Meng Ci inwardly marveled. Was this really the Shen Que he knew?

Usually, at worst, he'd just get annoyed and flop onto the sofa to act silly for a while.

If Shen Que could read Meng Ci's thoughts right now, he'd make him experience everything he'd endured without hesitation.

Every time Meng Ci used sparring as an excuse to take liberties, Shen Que had harbored this desire.

But Meng Ci always teased and ran, leaving Shen Que alone in frustration.

So, helplessly, he opened the window, letting the cold air wash over his face, trying to calm the turmoil within.

However, after accidentally discovering the novel Meng Ci had been reading, Shen Que could no longer suppress his inner urge.

This discovery only stoked the flames within him, simultaneously strengthening his resolve to be with Meng Ci.

Meng Ci couldn't even bring himself to look Shen Que in the eye.

Shen Que stood up, his tone calm. "I'll go check if the laundry's done, then come back to cook."

With that, he turned and left the room.

Watching Shen Que's retreating figure, Meng Ci silently breathed a sigh of relief.

Once he put his clothes back on, a powerful aura of restraint emanated from him, making it utterly impossible to imagine what had just transpired.

"That novel you were reading-could I have a look at it after you finish?" Shen Que suddenly asked, turning back.

Meng Ci instinctively nodded in agreement, but immediately shook his head vigorously.

His eyes widened as he protested anxiously, "No! Absolutely not!"

Shen Que looked puzzled. "Why?"

Meng Ci stammered nervously, "I... I'll delete it right away!" Shen Que frowned, clearly confused. He wondered: What on earth was in that book? Why did it make Meng Ci so tense and scared?

Meng Ci clutched his phone tightly, shaking his head frantically.

He silently prayed Shen Que wouldn't press further, for if Shen Que discovered the truth about this novel, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Seeing Meng Ci's resolute stance, Shen Que relented. He sighed and turned to leave the room.

Meng Ci breathed a sigh of relief and quickly unlocked his phone, ready to delete the novel.

"No, you can't read it."

"If you insist on reading it, then we'll both go down together."

Saying this, Meng Ci got up from the sofa, turned on the stove, and made a move to toss the phone inside.

"Let the phone explode in the stove. We'll both go down together." Meng Ci widened his eyes to show his resolve.

Seeing that Meng Ci truly didn't want him to read it, Shen Que could only settle for a compromise.

"Fine then. You read it carefully. After you finish, you can teach

me."

Even five minutes after Shen Que left, Meng Ci remained frozen in place.

What did Shen Que mean by that?

What did "teach him" even imply?

Could that guy really be treating this as instructional material?

He picked up his phone and scrutinized the passage he'd read earlier once more.

Sure enough, that was exactly the case! This wasn't ordinary text at all-the instructions were surprisingly detailed.

Meng Ci suddenly understood. No wonder Shen Que's technique had been so polished earlier-it all made sense now.

He marveled at the realization while continuing to scroll through the content on his phone.

Suddenly, his gaze settled on a particular section. His finger lightly swiped across the screen as his eyes sharpened with focus.

Since Shen Que had told him to study diligently, he might as well learn properly.

Thus, Meng Ci no longer hesitated and began to openly immerse himself in this vividly colored novel.

However, he soon discovered that this author was incredibly prolific the entire book spanned over a thousand chapters! To complete this "daunting" learning task as quickly as possible, Meng Ci had no choice but to work day and night, reading during the day and continuing into the night.

Finally, after three days and nights of relentless effort, it was past two in the morning of the fourth day when Meng Ci exhaled a long sigh. Overcome by deep exhaustion and a profound sense of accomplishment, he had finished reading every single chapter.

The next day, Meng Ci slept soundly until past one in the afternoon before waking up slowly.

His mind was foggy, and he even found himself mentally transported into the world of the novel.

As for the other man's face, it was entirely Shen Que's.

Upon rising, he found food waiting on the stove.

After a moment's thought, Meng Ci stowed the scallion pancake in his spatial storage and retrieved a jianbing guozi instead, devouring it in large bites.

He'd eaten too many scallion pancakes-jianbing guozi was simply tastier.

No sooner had he finished eating than he saw Shen Que walk in, wearing a coat.

"Are you going out to gather firewood? I'll come too!"

"Wait for me to change clothes."

With that, Meng Ci headed toward the bedroom.

Shen Que shook his head. "Not for firewood."

Meng Ci gripped the doorknob, puzzled.

"We're going out to find something-to test what you've learned."

Meng Ci's hand pressed down Instinctively, nearly sending him tumbling inside.

This, this...

Recalling the lessons from the past two days, Meng Ci's legs went weak.

"Are you still going?" Shen Que asked.

Meng Ci nodded.

"Let's go."

After being cooped up indoors for days, Meng Ci was eager to
