Ch103 Bai Lang, Do You Dare to Mark Again
"Why don't you rest a bit longer?"
Shen Que watched Meng Ci, who was holding a long knife, about to go downstairs to catch mice, spiders, and such.
He was afraid. Meng Ci hadn't fully recovered. Something could go wrong.
Meng Ci shook his head. "It's fine. I'm already better."
With that, Meng Ci bounced up and down a few times in place.
Shen Que marveled at Meng Ci's astonishing recovery speed, but then a thought struck him, filling him with delight.
Since Meng Ci was going to hunt rodents, Shen Que couldn't bear to let him go alone. He dressed quickly and followed Meng Ci downstairs.
By now, the snow had piled up halfway up the sixth floor, with light flurries drifting outside.
Meng Ci and Shen Que made their way down to the fifth floor.
From the fourth floor down, everything was frozen solid.
The pair could only begin their search for rats, spiders, and such from the fifth floor upwards.
The fifth floor, in particular, had been ransacked and was in utter disarray-perfect habitat for rodents. Moreover, the other residents likely hadn't received Lu Chen's flyers yet, so no one had come to clean up the mess.
Soon, they had gathered about ten pounds each of rats, cockroaches, and spiders.
All were captured alive.
They tied their legs with rope, stringing them into a long chain.
As they ascended to the seventeenth floor, returning residents already held flyers in hand.
Spotting the items the two carried, they rushed downstairs without even entering their homes, eager to capture these creatures.
No one could afford to fall behind-falling behind meant no food.
Of course, these matters had nothing to do with Shen Que and Meng Ci.
The two returned to the seventeenth floor.
Meng Ci shoved a bag of dead animals into the Bai Lang's mouth.
The wolf didn't seem to mind, devouring them with a series of growls.
Outside, the sky had grown dark. Shen Que suddenly spoke up.
"Xiao Ci, where are you sleeping tonight?"
Meng Ci thought of Shen Que's warm heated bed and felt conflicted.
"If you're sleeping with me, I'll go heat the bed right now."
Noticing the conflict on Meng Ci's
face, Shen Que said, "Is it because you think I didn't perform well yesterday, so you don't want to sleep with me anymore?"
For some reason, Meng Ci detected a hint of hurt in Shen Que's tone.
Meng Ci thought carefully about last night. Aside from the initial discomfort, his mind had drifted into a peculiar state afterward.
It wasn't exactly unpleasant, but it had been quite pleasurable.
Plus, the water in the space could help him recover physically, so he wouldn't have to worry about being outmatched in a fight if danger arose.
Meng Ci licked his lips. Since last night's experience hadn't been deeply engrained, why not try again tonight?
"No."
"Go warm the bed."
A chill breeze swept in as Shen Que opened the door.
Meng Ci stared at the wall ahead, his mind turning to whether he could still obtain the building's blueprints.
He was itching to determine if this wall was load-bearing. If not, he could break through and make a doorway here.
That way, he wouldn't have to go outside every time he needed to move between rooms!
Still, this was something he'd need to discuss with Shen Que.
As dusk approached, Meng Ci flipped the switch, and the overhead light came on.
With nothing else to do, he continued freezing ice cubes.
The Bai Lang beside him had been able to stand up three days ago and was now roaming around the room.
Perhaps canines of this sort all liked to mark their territory.
Therefore, the moment it could walk three days prior, the wolf began marking everywhere.
When Meng Ci saw this, he was furious.
Because it was cold outside, the window was only slightly open to let the gas escape.
But the room was so warm that the urine smell began to permeate the air.
Then it boldly invaded Meng Ci's nostrils.
Seeing the Bai Lang about to mark again, Meng Ci couldn't hold back. He grabbed a shoe from the floor and clamped it over the wolf's head.
"Try peeing anywhere again. Try it."
"You better believe I'll toss you out there to fend for yourself."
"You better believe I'll beat you."
Saying this, Meng Ci struck the Bai Lang a few times with the shoe, though not with much force.
But Bai Lang was the type to remember the food but not the beating. Seeing Meng Ci crouched on the balcony, it came over to sniff him.
Hmm. His scent was gone.
Instead, the place reeked of that cold-faced guy next door.
No!
He couldn't let his owner be stolen away.
The Bai Lang turned, lifted his leg, and began marking.
Huh?
The Bai Lang frowned. Why wasn't the urine coming out?
Turning its head, it saw Meng Ci standing expressionless, holding a cup firmly pressed against the spot where the wolf was trying to mark.
The wolf was puzzled.
What was its owner doing?
Meng Ci's gaze grew dangerous as he pulled a slipper from his spatial storage.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
This time, Meng Ci showed no mercy, landing two solid smacks on the wolf.
Woof, woof!
"Bark? You dare bark?"
Meng Ci grabbed the Bai Lang by the neck and struck it several more times.
"Didn't I tell you? No peeing inside the house!"
"There!" Meng Ci pointed with the slipper toward a room.
"There's a bathroom inside. If you need to pee, go in there."
The spot Meng Ci indicated was a bathroom. During the renovation, a squat toilet had been installed there.
After witnessing the Bai Lang urinating everywhere, Meng Ci placed a plastic bag over the pit and cleaned it out for the dog daily.
Bai Lang might have mutated, for it was remarkably intelligent. Meng Ci only had to demonstrate twice before the dog learned.
For the past two days, whenever the wolf needed to defecate, it would run to the bathroom.
But it just couldn't break the habit of urinating anywhere.
It would pee a little here, a little there, marking its territory everywhere.
It didn't care one bit about its owner's well-being.
The wolf probably knew Meng Ci was its sugar daddy-as long as it followed him, it would have food, water, and meat.
So no matter how hard Meng Ci hit it, the wolf never bit back.
Moreover, after eating mutated spiders and rats these past two days, the wolf noticed its skin gradually thickening.
At first, Meng Ci's blows truly hurt.
But today, the wolf felt Meng Ci's lashes tickling it.
Woof!
The wolf barked twice, defiant.
It refused to urinate in the toilet,
insisting on marking its master and the house.
Seeing the wolfs stubborn, unyielding attitude, Meng Ci grew furious.
"Fine, you won't listen, huh?"
"Then you won't get any meat from now on. You'll eat greens like the rabbits."
Meng Ci gritted his teeth.
Hearing it would be eating greens from now on, the Bai
Lang's eyes widened in disbelief.
How could its owner be so cruel? It
was a carnivore-what kind of nonsense was eating greens?! That
would disgrace its ancestors!
Woof!
Bai Lang let out a single howl. Fine, fine. For the sake of meat, it would reluctantly refrain from marking its owner.
With that, it wriggled free of Meng Ci's grasp and made its way straight to the bathroom.
Meng Ci, satisfied with the
outcome, set down his slippers only to spot Shen Que standing frozen not far from the sofa.
Meng Ci awkwardly lowered the slippers in his hand and rubbed his nose.
Oh no. His standing with Shen Que had just taken a nosedive.
