Chapter 215: Follow and Feel Free to Pick Whatever You Want
"Don't worry, the rabbits are easy to take care of. Just give them some vegetables like green grass and carrots every day."
Meng Ci remembered the vegetables planted around the yard before he entered the house, so he wasn't concerned about the rabbits going hungry.
Zhao Jingyu nodded, indicating that he would definitely take good care of them.
There were other items for Zhao Jingyu and the others in the car outside, so the three of them went out to grab them.
While opening the trunk, Meng Ci sneakily slipped in a big bag of carrots without Zhao Jingyu noticing.
"Here, some carrots for the rabbits."
Meng Ci looked at Zhao Jingyu's chicken-like build and handed him the lightest cage with the rabbits.
Zhao Jingyu lifted the rabbit cage to eye level and, seeing the plump white rabbits inside, couldn't help but poke them with his finger.
Whether out of fear or something else, a stream of yellow urine shot out from the cage and splashed onto Zhao Jingyu's feet.
"Damn it!"
If the rabbits weren't so cute, munching on carrots and looking adorable, Zhao Jingyu would have thrown the cage away based on his temperament.
"Meng Ci, did you tell them to do that?" Zhao Jingyu lashed out in frustration, unable to vent his anger on the rabbits.
He felt even more upset, thinking about how he had embarrassed himself twice in front of others today.
"When you come in later, make sure to close the door tightly."
After saying that, Zhao Jingyu started to head home with the rabbit cage, but Meng Ci quickly shoved another plastic bag into his hands.
The bag seemed to contain a glass jar, but Zhao Jingyu had no idea what was inside. All he wanted was to go back and wash his feet and change his shoes, so he took it and left.
Meng Ci, holding a pack of cola in one hand and a bag of white flour in the other, and Shen Que, carrying a large bag of carrots on his shoulder, closed the car door and walked into the yard.
Eggplant, seeing its two owners with so many packages, ran over and rubbed against their legs, begging for a treat.
But after sniffing around and finding no meat, it wandered off in disappointment.
Zhao Jingyu placed the rabbit cage at the villa entrance and then brought out a basin of water to rinse his feet.
"Little bunnies, want some water?"
There was still some water in the basin, so Zhao Jingyu cupped some in his hand, intending to feed it to the rabbits.
Meng Ci quickly stopped him by putting down the cola in his hand.
"Rabbits shouldn't drink too much water. If you want to feed them water, you should boil it, let it cool, and then give them a little!"
"Otherwise, if they drink too much or drink unclean water, they'll get intestinal inflammation, and they could die from diarrhea."
"If you give them enough fresh grass, you can skip giving them extra water altogether."
Upon hearing this, Zhao Jingyu quickly pulled his hand back.
"Sorry, I've never fed a rabbit before, I didn't know about this."
Feeling extremely guilty for almost causing the death of a cute rabbit, Zhao Jingyu couldn't help asking if there were any other precautions he should be aware of.
Once he had learned enough, Zhao Jingyu felt relieved and decided to take notes later to avoid forgetting.
Then he noticed the cola on the ground.
"Is... is this for me?" Zhao Jingyu had already swallowed nervously.
"Yes!" Meng Ci nodded.
"So you need to take good care of the little rabbit."
"No problem!"
Zhao Jingyu excitedly hugged the cola, happily taking it inside and pouring himself a cup, adding a few ice cubes.
After taking a big sip of the cola, Zhao Jingyu felt his happiness return.
Before the apocalypse, when Zhao Ting was stockpiling supplies, Zhao Jingyu had added a thousand cases of cola to the list, thinking it would last forever.
Seeing this, Zhao Ting thought cola was unhealthy, so he only allowed the purchase of ten cases.
Those ten cases of cola had long been finished by Zhao Jingyu.
When Meng Ci and Shen Que entered, Zhao Jingyu quickly hid the open cola bottle behind his back.
"Uh, why don't you guys have some water?"
With only six bottles of cola left, Zhao Jingyu wasn't willing to share.
The ice in the two cups of water on the table hadn't melted yet because of the cool room temperature.
Meng Ci was a bit exasperated but didn't say anything.
"These are carrots; you can mix them with greens to feed the rabbit."
"Also, the jar I gave you earlier contains sweet rice wine; you can mix it with hot water to drink."
"Okay!" Zhao Jingyu nodded.
Noticing how much Meng Ci and Shen Que had brought, Zhao Jingyu felt it was only right to offer something in return.
"You guys brought so much stuff, I don't even know what I can give you in return."
Zhao Jingyu put down his cup and led the way.
"No need." Meng Ci declined; they weren't lacking anything.
Zhao Jingyu opened a door, revealing the stairs leading to the second floor and the basement.
"No, no, really. Since you're Liang Xiu's friends, you're my friends too. Don't be so formal with me."
Impressed by Zhao Jingyu's generosity, Meng Ci wanted to see what else he had and followed him into the basement.
With a click, the basement light flickered on, revealing bags of flour, rice, and several shelves stocked with various dried goods and canned food.
Six freezers stood side by side, stocked with dumplings, glutinous rice balls, pumpkin cakes, pork, beef, lobster, and other frozen foods.
When Liang Xiu helped organize the items in Zhao Jingyu's Villa No. 6, Meng Ci and Shen Que didn't inspect everything closely at the time.
However, they knew that Zhao Jingyu had exchanged over a million points for supplies.
Surprisingly, the basement was still well-stocked with food.
It seemed that Zhao Ting had been quite far-sighted, stockpiling quite a bit.
In the far corner of the basement, several rows of hydroponic setups were lit and powered, growing a variety of fresh vegetables.
Noticing Meng Ci's interest, Zhao Jingyu proudly pointed out, "Liang Xiu grew these vegetables."
"Liang Xiu is incredibly versatile—he can farm, cook, and even fix phones..."
Zhao Jingyu had plenty of points, so if they were careful, they could easily survive until the end of the apocalypse.
However, Liang Xiu had big career aspirations and wasn't content staying at home.
Realizing he couldn't change Liang Xiu's mind, Zhao Jingyu reluctantly let him go to work.
Meng Ci, of course, knew how capable Liang Xiu was; after all, he was handpicked by the Meng Group.
"Help yourselves to whatever you need. Life hasn't been easy for you two, after all."
Meng Ci looked around but didn't particularly want anything, though he politely took two packs of pumpkin cakes to try them out later.
Seeing them take so little, Zhao Jingyu sighed, wondering why they were being so polite when they clearly needed the help.
Thus, he took the liberty of grabbing lobster and other meats, stuffing them into Meng Ci and Shen Que's arms.
Meng Ci put them back down.
