Chapter 246: Shen Que, What's Your Psionic?
"Woof!"
As soon as Meng Ci and Shen Que opened the door, they saw Eggplant rushing in from the courtyard, followed by a massive bird soaring over the wall.
"Damn it!"
Meng Ci was caught off guard and cursed in fright.
When the bird landed, Meng Ci saw that it was the eagle.
"Is the eagle mutated?"
Meng Ci then thought that with the eagle being able to jump over the five-meter wall, what about other psionics?
Meng Ci considered raising the wall, but quickly realized that wouldn't stop psionics since they weren't ordinary humans.
"Shen Que!" Meng Ci nudged Shen Que and asked.
"I didn't get a chance to ask what your psionic is!"
Shen Que showed Meng Ci his psionic in action.
He stretched out his hand, and soon a ball of flame appeared in his palm.
"In battle, I can shape the flames into fireballs and hurl them at enemies."
"It's also useful for lighting up dark areas or starting fires."
Meng Ci saw the flame and couldn't resist reaching out to touch it, but when his hand was about ten centimeters away, Shen Que retracted the fire.
"It's burning hot!" Shen Que explained.
Meng Ci nodded, agreeing that it was indeed hot. He could feel the heat even from a distance.
"Do you have any other powers?" After all, in his past life, Shen Que had awakened two powers. In this life, he already had the spatial ability, so maybe there could be another one.
As Meng Ci had hoped, Shen Que nodded.
"Yes!"
"My spatial power seems to have grown stronger."
In his past life, Shen Que's spatial power could only store items, but now he could retrieve objects from a distance without touching them, directly into his space.
To demonstrate, Shen Que activated his power, and Meng Ci watched in amazement as a pile of sand in the yard vanished before his eyes.
"However, I can only store inanimate objects in my space, not living ones."
When Shen Que realized the change in his power, the first thing he wanted to try was putting an eggplant into the space.
However, he found that it didn't work, so he tried putting the sand in his hand into the space instead.
Meng Ci watched in awe, marveling at the sheer power of this ability.
He thought that the ability to retrieve objects without contact was truly astonishing, and in comparison, his own spatial ability seemed rather lackluster.
At that moment, Meng Ci suddenly recalled that his finger had once touched acid rain, and out of curiosity, he asked Shen Que how he had discovered his powers.
Shen Que replied, "I perceived it through my mental energy."
He then explained that once you acquire an ability, a sort of manual automatically generates in your mind, allowing you to understand how to use these powers.
Upon hearing this, Meng Ci immediately focused and tried to sense it carefully, hoping to detect this so-called "manual."
However, after a long wait, he still couldn't feel any abnormal or special information.
Eventually, he reluctantly gave up, feeling frustrated.
Fortunately, in the early stages, Meng Ci had accumulated a significant amount of time.
If danger arose, he could enter his safe space at any time to avoid risks.
This way, his safety would be guaranteed to a certain extent.
While Meng Ci and Shen Que remained calm, chaos erupted in other parts of the base.
Those who awoke to discover their new abilities were overjoyed, while those who remained ordinary felt bitter about the growing divide between them and the psionics.
Fortunately, most psionics were compassionate and intervened whenever they saw others using their powers to bully ordinary people.
As a result, the base was alive with a dazzling display of elemental energies—lightning, water, fire, and wind—intermingling in a breathtaking spectacle.
Meanwhile, some psionics who had gained physical abilities like enhanced speed, agility, and strength turned their attention to the exchange point.
Using their new powers, they stormed the exchange point, trying to force their way in and seize the supplies.
However, the exchange point was completely empty.
Of course, this was all part of the official preparations.
Through Shen Que's earlier letter, they knew that most people would fall into a coma the previous night and awaken with abilities.
Anticipating that these people might attack the exchange point, they had secretly moved everything out in advance.
Naturally, the exchange point, points redemption center, government buildings, and other locations had no staff, nor did they have what these rebels were looking for.
Enraged, they began ransacking the base.
But their confidence quickly faded.
Because the military had arrived.
The soldiers, who had been out rescuing people during the heavy rain and acid rain period, had also been exposed to acid rain due to Shen Que's letter, knowing it would grant abilities.
Now, most of those who had awakened had abilities, and with their strong physical condition and systematic training, they were more powerful than ordinary people, quickly subduing the rebels.
The once-arrogant rebels now cowered, too afraid to speak and pleading for mercy.
As mentioned before, surviving humans could not be sentenced to death.
So the officials locked these people in a dark room, planning to keep them there for a few days as a lesson.
After finally rounding up all the rebels, another incident occurred.
At first, they were muttering among themselves, discussing the abilities they had gained and filled with hope for the future.
Suddenly, one of them was bitten on the neck by a companion.
"What the hell are you doing? Let go!"
"Holy shit, you're not actually going to eat people, right?"
In no time, many people in the base were being bitten.
On the official side, some people were turning into zombies as well.
But the soldiers were quick on their feet, and most managed to dodge when the others lunged at them.
Then they watched in horror as their once-cheerful comrades' eyes turned white, their expressions went blank, and their skin began to crack from within.
"Shit, are they turning into zombies?"
A few soldiers couldn't dodge in time. After being bitten, they writhed on the ground, their eyes turning white before they got back up and started biting others.
Lu Chen had woken up late but arrived just in time, having awakened two abilities.
"Kill the infected comrades."
Only a few soldiers turned into zombies, and they were quickly contained.
They hesitated, looking at the comrades they had once fought alongside, unable to bring themselves to act.
Seeing they weren't obeying, Lu Chen frowned and raised his hand, summoning a razor-sharp wind blade.
But when it came to killing his own comrades, Lu Chen hesitated, even with the power at his fingertips.
