Chapter 20: Hop Hop Hop Town & Scissor Street
Lyra, Brock, and Misty came to a city with skyscrapers and apartments.
"Hey, where are we, Brock?" Misty asked.
Brock looked at the map. "It says that we are in Hop Hop Hop Town."
"Funny name for a town," Lyra said. Then suddenly she stopped in her tracks and looked around her.
"Is something wrong, Lu?" asked Brock.
"I'm sensing something weird in the air," Lyra said. "I don't know what, but something doesn't feel right in this city."
Suddenly the Xtransceiver beeped, indicating that it was detecting something. The screen changed to a radio-like wave function.
"Huh?" Lyra blinked. "Dexter is picking up electromagnetic wavelengths in the city."
"That's odd," Brock commented.
Just then they heard a woman shouting, "Arnold!"
They went to see what was wrong.
The woman explained that her son Arnold was missing and had been missing for three whole days. "My son isn't the only one who's missing." She pointed to a wall that had a long row of pictures of children. "Those children have been missing for three days as well."
'I thought so,' Lyra thought, 'something is not right about this city. There is a lot of weird aura about Pokémon, mostly, and children.' She turned to the woman and thought about her mum.
"Don't worry, ma'am," Lyra said to her. "I'm sure Arnold will come home." The woman thanked her for the kind words and left.
"We need to sort this out," Brock said. "Children just disappearing like that seems all wrong." Lyra and Misty agreed. "Split up and look for clues and ask people questions."
So Lyra, Brock, and Misty split up and asked a lot of people if they had seen any of the missing children, but they hadn't.
Then Lyra saw an Officer Jenny and asked her if she had seen any of the missing children. "No, I haven't," sighed Officer Jenny, "and I've been looking for them these past three days. I don't suppose you've noticed anything, have you, young lady?"
Lyra explained that she sensed something weird in the air earlier and that her Xtransceiver picked something up too. "I don't know what, though." She sighed.
"If you sense it again, please tell me at once," said Officer Jenny. "I'm going to see Nurse Joy now, if you wish to join." Lyra accepted.
Lyra and Officer Jenny met with Brock and Misty in the Pokémon Center.
They were asking Nurse Joy if she had seen the children, but she hadn't. The thing was, Nurse Joy had her hands full; the Pokémon in the Pokémon Center were acting strange.
The Pokémon in the Pokémon Center had been very weak and worn out for three days. Both Oddish and Cubone looked like their energy had been drained. Magikarp, that is always full of life, looked like it had died. A Charmander's flame looked like it would go out any minute.
"And this one has been in terrible shape," Nurse Joy said. She was holding a Psyduck in her arms.
"And these Pokémon have been like this for three whole days?" Officer Jenny asked.
"Yes," Nurse Joy said worriedly.
Just then Pichu and Pikachu felt weary and fell asleep.
"Pi." "Pika." They said tiredly.
"Oh no," said Brock, "Pichu and Pikachu have been hit by the waves now."
"We need to sort this out now," Officer Jenny said. She pulled out a device from her pocket. "This will pick up the psychic waves and lead us to where it's coming from. We must go at once."
Thanks to Officer Jenny's device, the psychic waves seemed to be coming from a huge mansion on top of a skyscraper.
"The psychic waves are stronger now," Lyra said, "so our answer is in here."
Lyra and Brock opened the doors. Inside were lots of people, mostly middle-aged, and it seemed a party was going on in the mansion.
"Please excuse us for intruding," Lyra said politely after bowing a bit. "Is the owner of the mansion here?"
A smart-looking gentleman walked up to them. "I'm the owner," he said. "Can I help you?"
Officer Jenny explained to him that they had picked up psychic waves from there.
"Ah, those would be from our Pokémon Drowzee and Hypno," the gentleman said, and he pointed to two Pokémon sitting on two chairs.
Drowzee is a bipedal Pokémon that resembles a tapir. It has tired-looking eyes, a short trunk above its mouth, and triangular ears. The upper half of its body is yellow and the lower half is brown. A wavy line separates the two halves. It has a round belly and short legs. Its feet are brown, except for its two toes, which are the same yellow as the upper half of the body. The bottom of each foot has a small, round, pink pad in the middle of it, and there are three fingers on each of its hands.
Hypno is a bipedal, humanoid Pokémon that has yellow skin. It has two triangular ears on the top of its head and two sleepy-looking eyes with a large nose underneath. On its neck, it has a ruff of white fur. It has five fingers on each hand and holds a pendulum in its left hand. There are three toes on each of its feet, which have a pink pad on the undersides.
Drowzee, the Hypnosis Pokémon.
It can tell what people are dreaming by sniffing with its big nose. It loves to eat dreams.
Hypno, the Hypnosis Pokémon.
The evolved form of Drowzee. Seeing its swinging pendulum can induce sleep in three seconds, even in someone who just woke up.
"I'm picking unusual Psychic auras from them," Lyra said.
"So Drowzee evolves into Hypno, huh?" Brock asked questioningly.
"That's right," said the gentleman, "and one of our Drowzee evolved three days ago."
Officer Jenny and the gang were surprised at this.
The gentleman explained that he and his friends suffered from insomnia, and that made it hard for them to sleep. "But now, thanks to our new Hypno and its hypnotism, we can finally sleep."
"I'm glad for you," Lyra said, "but I think your Hypno's hypnotism is causing trouble around the city."
Officer Jenny explained that three days ago children went missing and Pokémon became really weak. "Oh dear," said the gentleman, "could Hypno have caused that?"
Just then Misty got hypnotized by Hypno and began acting like a Seel. Lyra instantly felt her aura become like a Pokémon. She was going to ask her if she was okay, but Misty ran out the door.
Lyra, Brock, Officer Jenny, and the gentleman followed her all the way to Hop Hop Hop Town's park. When they got there, they had a big surprise. All the missing children were there, as well as Misty, but they were acting like Pokémon.
"I feel that they all have Pokémon auras. Why?" Lyra asked, watching a boy act like a Bulbasaur.
"Pokémonitis," Brock answered. "The psychic waves from Hypno had made them think that they are Pokémon."
"So that means those waves zapped the Pokémon's energy, which is why they are really weak," Lyra said.
The gentleman looked at the kids. "How could this have happened?" he asked.
"Well, this is why you have to be careful when using Psychic Pokémon," Lyra explained. "I don't know much because I'm an Aura User, not a Psychic user, but I know that a Psychic Pokémon's power can be dangerous sometimes. The thing is, what should we do about this?"
"I know," the gentleman said, getting an idea. "We can use Drowzee."
They took Misty back to the mansion, and Drowzee's power did cure Misty.
"What happened?" Misty asked. She didn't remember anything at all.
"Misty, you got hypnotized by Hypno," Lyra explained, "and it made you act like a Seel."
Misty felt embarrassed but was glad to be back to normal.
Then they took Drowzee to the park, and Drowzee stopped the children from acting like Pokémon. The children went home right away, and the woman the gang met earlier was reunited with Arnold at last.
Then finally Drowzee woke the Pokémon, Pichu and Pikachu, in the Pokémon Center.
"Thank goodness that's over with," Lyra said.
Nurse Joy was happy that the Pokémon were all right, and Lyra was happy that Pichu and Pikachu were okay now.
"I better just stick to sleeping pills from now on," the gentleman said. "I'd hate to have this happen again." Then he and Drowzee went home.
Lyra, Brock, and Misty were about to leave too, but Nurse Joy turned to them, holding the Psyduck in her arms. "This Psyduck is still in bad shape a bit."
Lyra smiled. She knew that Psyduck always suffered from headaches. She walked over to Nurse Joy. "Leave Psyduck with me," she said with a smile. "I know exactly how to help it." So Lyra caught a Psyduck for herself.
"Why did you decide to keep that Psyduck?" asked Misty.
"Well," Lyra started, "one, Psyduck can be strong creatures, and two, I would like to have a Golduck on my team." So they left the center and continued on their journey.
•~•~•~•~•~••~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•
Right now Lyra, Brock, and Misty were walking down a street called Scissor Street. Brock wanted to visit it.
"So why are we here, Brock?" Lyra asked him, but Brock wasn't listening; he was just staring at the stores on Scissor Street like he was looking for something.
"I know why," said Misty. "Scissor Street is another name for Breeder's Lane."
"Oh," Lyra said, "but didn't Brock want to be a Pokémon Doctor though?"
"He does," said Misty, "but sometimes a breeder's technique can be useful if you want to be a Pokémon Doctor."
While they were walking down the street, Lyra saw a lot of beauty parlors. She noticed that some Pokémon were looking a bit stylish, with makeup. Misty thought they looked cute, but Lyra didn't. She thought all Pokémon would look cute without any makeup or accessories on.
Then Misty saw something that made her squeal. "How cute!"
In the window, there was an Ekans wearing a pink and yellow dress with decorations and a green ribbon. There was also a Koffing wearing a yellow frilly tutu, a ton of makeup, and an orange ribbon.
"Okay, is that a Pokémon or a Christmas tree?" Brock whispered to Lyra, and she shrugged her shoulders.
Lyra felt sick to her stomach; to her, this was totally wrong. A woman came out of a beauty salon, and her Dodrio and Raichu had the most disgusting makeover Lyra had ever seen. Raichu and Dodrio didn't like their makeover either. They had too much makeup on, and Dodrio's hairstyles looked awful.
Misty was about to queue up for the salon when Brock rushed to another salon shop.
It was run by a woman named Suzy, and she did massages for Pokémon.
"This is the one I'm looking for," Brock said excitedly.
Inside, a woman with long hair was massaging a Chansey. Chansey looked gorgeous after a good massage. Then its trainer picked it up, paid Suzy, and left.
"Can I help you?" Suzy asked them.
"Well, we are just looking around," Lyra said, "but I am interested in having one of my Pokémon massaged."
"Of course," smiled Suzy, "just tell me anytime when you want your Pokémon massaged."
Misty saw something that caught her eye. A Vulpix was fast asleep in the middle of the salon.
Lyra smiled and thought about her Vulpix.
Misty picked up Vulpix, exclaiming how cute and beautiful it was. But Vulpix blew fire into Misty's face.
"I do apologize for that," apologized Suzy, "but Vulpix doesn't like to be picked up by strangers."
Lyra asked Brock why they were there. Brock explained that Suzy was quite famous in the Pokémon breeding world, winning awards for four years straight. Her Vulpix had won awards as well.
Lyra was amazed and understood that Brock could learn something from a great Pokémon Breeder.
The gang had tea with Suzy. Misty asked Suzy about the beauty salon they had seen earlier. "That beauty salon is brand new," said Suzy, "but the owners of that salon only think about how Pokémon should look on the outside. And it's making trainers forget about what's on the inside."
"I thought it was all tacky," Lyra said. "Besides, a Pokémon's true beauty is found within, like its strength. Anyway, showing off your looks is not important."
Misty raised an eyebrow. "But some Pokémon like to show off," she said. She stared at Pichu and Pikachu and imagined them wearing a dress and a little bit of makeup.
Lyra snapped her out of her fantasy. "Oh no way in Arceus's name, Misty," she said, "you are not putting any makeup on my Pokémon. Have it on one of your own Pokémon."
"Okay, I will," Misty said. She took out her Oddish. "Come on, Oddish, we are going to get a makeover." And she left the salon with Oddish.
When Misty left, Lyra's bag began to shake. "Hey, look, the other Pokémon egg is starting to hatch," Lyra said excitedly.
"Oh wow," Brock and Suzy said together.
Lyra's Xtransceiver began recording it.
[The egg glowed brightly, showing a Pokémon with a purple, swan-like body with a yellow underside. It had blue eyes, a blue round tuft on its head, and a pointed, beak-like snout. There were yellow, crescent-shaped ornaments on the sides of its head. Glowing and glittering blue, ring-like wings were on its side and back, with paw-like protrusions resting on its chest. [It's quite small because of it being a baby Pokémon.]
It opened its eyes, seeing Lyra in front of her. "Cresselia?" She tilted her head and smiled at her mother, floating very slowly towards her and nuzzling her head against her cheek.
Cresselia, the Lunar Pokémon.
Shining particles are released from Cresselia's wings like a veil, and it is said to represent the crescent moon.
Cresselia is known as a Legendary Pokémon of the Sinnoh Region on Lunar Island.
Cresselia is also known as the Lunar Duo with Darkrai.
This Cresselia is a Shiny Pokémon.
Lyra, Brock, and Suzy were shocked, seeing a Legendary Pokémon in front of them and being born. "Oh wow, I have a Legendary Pokémon of my own now." She petted Cresselia's head. "You're very beautiful too." Cresselia smiled at her mother.
Lyra did a quick switch with her Pokémon so that she could keep Cresselia with her.
After that little short incident of Cresselia being born, Suzy began having doubts about her massages. "Maybe I should change my methods," she said sadly.
"No way," said Brock, "your methods are fine. We just need to give an audience a demonstration of your massages and what they do for Pokémon."
"I agree, and we will help you!" Lyra called out from her spot where she was watching Cresselia, Pichu, and Pikachu playing.
Suzy was grateful and thanked Lyra and Brock.
They gave a demo on the street. Lyra helped Suzy with massaging Pikachu, while Brock spoke through the microphone.
The crowds were amazed by Suzy's massaging. Pikachu looked adorable without any makeup on. "As you can see," said Brock through the microphone, "this Pikachu, being massaged, has become cuter than ever." The people looked at their made-up Pokémon and sighed.
Meanwhile, Misty and Oddish were in the salon. The owners gave Misty a makeover first, even though Misty said they needed to do Oddish.
"Wow, how cute!" Misty exclaimed with stars in her eyes, liking the new hairstyle and clothes.
Then the owners put makeup on her, but Misty started to look weird. Just then Meowth came in and spoke.
When Misty heard Meowth speak, she realized that Team Rocket was running the salon, and she tried to escape, but Team Rocket tied her up to a chair.
"The other twerps will come for her," James said.
"And once they do, we nab their Pokémon," Jessie said.
Misty called out to her Oddish, but Oddish was nowhere to be seen.
Oddish had seen everything and had gone for help. She ran to where Lyra and Brock were and spoke to them.
"Guys, Oddish is saying that Misty is in trouble," Lyra said.
Lyra, Brock, and Suzy followed Oddish to where Misty was.
They saw Team Rocket and saw Misty tied up in the chair. Misty's makeup made her look funny, but Lyra and Brock didn't laugh; they knew this was no time for teasing.
"Let Misty go now!" Lyra shouted.
"Oh, we'll let her go," said Jessie, "but you have to hand over your Pokémon."
"No way," Lyra said. "Let's go, Raichu!" She called out Raichu for battle.
"Rai, Rai!" Raichu said, ready for a fight.
"Go, Geodude!" Brock said.
Jessie and James sent out Ekans and Koffing, who were still wearing the dresses and makeup.
"Geodude, use Tackle on Koffing," Brock said.
Koffing tried to fight back with Sludge, but the makeup and dress slowed it down, so Geodude's Tackle worked. Raichu shot Thunderbolt at Ekans. Ekans tried to run away, but the makeup and dress got in the way too, so Ekans ended up being zapped by Thunderbolt.
"Let's finish this, Raichu," Lyra said.
Raichu nodded. "Rai, rai, Raichu!" (You bet!)
"Wait," Suzy said, stopping Raichu in his tracks, "I'll finish this. Vulpix, Fire Spin." Vulpix's Fire Spin created a fiery cyclone, which not only blasted Team Rocket away but destroyed the fake salon.
The people who saw everything were amazed by that.
"There you see, everyone," Brock shouted to everyone that watched the battle, "the makeup and clothing not only ruined Ekans and Koffing's image but made them unable to battle properly."
Everyone knew Brock was right and took all the makeup and accessories off their Pokémon. As for Misty, Oddish set her free by cutting the rope with her Razor Leaf.
After everyone was all back to normal, the gang got ready to leave Scissor Street. "I can't thank you enough," said Suzy gratefully, "you helped me regain my confidence, and you helped me prove a Pokémon's true beauty."
"We are glad that we were able to help you," Lyra said.
"Brock, through your Geodude I can see that you raise and train your Pokémon really well," Suzy stated.
"Thank you," said Brock. "I must ask, though, what are you going to do now?"
"Well, I've decided to travel and learn more about Pokémon. Oh, and Brock," Suzy picked up her Vulpix, "will you take Vulpix with you?" Brock was puzzled by what she meant. "You see, I believe you will raise Vulpix better than I did. So will you do it?" she asked.
Brock was touched and accepted and was happy to receive Vulpix.
Lyra and Misty were moved to tears about what just happened.
Lyra and her three Electrics still thought that Misty's makeup was funny, but they still didn't say anything or laugh.
So, with Vulpix in tow, Brock and his friends left Scissor Street.

1.The mystery Pokémon is revealed, and it was Cresselia. I love the Lunar Pokémon; she is so pretty.
2. The reason why I gave Lyra Psyduck instead of Misty is because in the anime she never really wanted Psyduck, so I decided that Lyra can have him instead.
3. I know Oddish can only learn Razor Leaf from breeding, but since they did the same thing for Brock's Ludicolo, I decided to give Oddish an egg move like Razor Leaf.
