Chapter 44 - THE SILENT WITNESS

Mark was about to jump over the police tape, intending to crawl down on his own, but an officer held him back firmly.

Mark struggled, his screams drowned out by the thunder that split the sky, leaving him now falling to his knees on the muddy ground.

Mark could only stare at the wreckage of the burning car from the top of the cliff. His expensive clothes were now stained, but he no longer cared about the image of the Billionaire he had long revered. His shiny leather shoes were submerged in a puddle at the edge of the cliff, while his hands clutched at the wild grass to support his body, which had suddenly lost all its strength. Mark stared straight at the plume of black smoke creeping up from the bottom of the ravine.

"Let me go down! I have to see for myself!" Mark roared.

A police inspector stepped forward, blocking Mark's view of the wrecked car below. He looked at Mark with a completely expressionless gaze.
