Chapter 10 - Am I really married?

Su Mianmian said "Oh," and comforted her mother a few more times before hanging up. At lunchtime, when she went to eat with Song Zhi, Tang Yunzheng casually sat down opposite them with his tray. Song Zhi frowned, "Oh, isn't this that scumbag Tang?

Why are you in the cafeteria today instead of spending time with your girlfriend?" Tang Yunzheng glanced at Su Mianmian, his tone nonchalant. "We broke up." "Broken up? Broke up?" Song Zhi almost spat out her soup, remembering the bet from last night, and felt inexplicably excited.

She secretly nudged Su Mianmian, who was eating earnestly. "Mianmian, did you hear that? That scumbag Tang said he and…" Su Mianmian looked up nonchalantly, "No need to repeat it, I'm not deaf."

Song Zhi was taken aback, then looked at Tang Yunzheng again, "Wait, Tang scumbag, you've only been with that green tea Lin for less than two months, right? You've already lost interest?"

Tang Yunzheng crossed his legs, his tone half-serious, "What can I do? Su Mianmian doesn't like him." Song Zhi glanced at Su Mianmian silently, "Wait, do you care if Mianmian likes your girlfriend or not?"

Tang Yunzheng smirked, "I don't want to be seen as someone who forgets their friends for a pretty face." His words were so pointed that Su Mianmian, who initially didn't want to talk to him, now had to defend herself. "I don't remember saying anything like that."

"You didn't say it, but your attitude lately has conveyed that."

Tang Yunzheng suddenly leaned forward, his body reaching across the table to get closer to Su Mianmian. "Ignoring me, giving me the cold shoulder, isn't it all because I'm dating Lin Jiaojiao? Su Mianmian, now that we've broken up, can our relationship go back to what it was before?"

Su Mianmian calmly looked at the handsome face in front of her, his nose straight, his eyes bright. She carefully assessed him; she no longer felt her heart racing. She took a slight step back. "What about before?"

Tang Yunzheng thought for a moment. "We talked about everything, went to school together, went home together, ate in the cafeteria together." Su Mianmian silently picked up her tray. "You mean boyfriend and girlfriend, right? Sorry, we're not in that kind of relationship."

After saying that, Su Mianmian stood up abruptly, and Song Zhi quickly followed.

"Wow, Su Mianmian, love really does make you lose your mind! Now that you're in love, you're practically a female knight-errant! You didn't see it just now, that scumbag Tang was turned green with anger after just a few words from you."

Su Mianmian sighed. "Making up is easy, going back to normal is hard. Tang Yunzheng just doesn't understand that." Song Zhi said, "That makes sense. Oh, by the way, don't forget the milk tea this month."... On the day she got her marriage certificate with Gu Yizhou, Su Mianmian got up very early.

The agreed time was nine o'clock, but by eight-thirty, Su Mianmian had already left the school gate. She had planned to come early to wait for him, but Gu Yizhou was already there.

The black BL car was parked across the street from the school. Su Mianmian crossed the road and walked over. Before she even got close, the car door opened, and Gu Yizhou stepped out.

He was dressed especially formally today, in a well-tailored black suit, with his white shirt buttoned up to the top, revealing his long neck and prominent Adam's apple.

He was naturally handsome; behind his gold-rimmed glasses, his long, narrow eyes were deep and serene, his brows conveying a cool yet subtly gentle quality. "Why are you out so early? Have you had breakfast?"

Su Mianmian's cheeks flushed slightly. "Yes, I have. I was afraid you'd be waiting too long, so I came out early." Gu Yizhou smiled and bent slightly to retrieve a bouquet of flowers from the back seat. "For you." Su Mianmian was somewhat surprised and awkwardly accepted it. "You even prepared a gift?"

Gu Yizhou stepped aside, gesturing for Su Mianmian to get in the car. "After all, it's our first anniversary, so it's only right." Su Mianmian felt a little ashamed after hearing this. After Gu Yizhou got in and sat next to her, she spoke shyly.

"Sorry, I didn't think that much about it." Gu Yizhou turned his head, his gaze gentle as he looked at her. "It's okay, you can give it to me later." Su Mianmian: ...Shouldn't he normally say, "It's okay, don't mind?" Su Mianmian blinked twice, realizing for the first time that Gu Yizhou wasn't as stern as she remembered. "What are you thinking about? You're not really thinking about what gift to get me, are you?"

Su Mianmian awkwardly pursed her lips. "I don't know what you like, could you give me a general idea?" Gu Yizhou smiled, tapping his long fingers on his knee. "A gift is a surprise; it's not as interesting as talking about it."

Su Mianmian rarely saw Gu Yizhou smile; at most, his lips would slightly curve upwards in a shallow arc. He never smiled like he did just now, with a smile even in his eyes and brows.

Su Mianmian almost lost her composure, suddenly remembering the word Song Zhi had used to describe Gu Yizhou—"a peerless beauty." It was incredibly fitting. Her cheeks flushed slightly, and Su Mianmian nodded. "Oh, okay, I'll think about buying it for you."

When they arrived at the Civil Affairs Bureau, several couples were already queuing. After Gu Yizhou took a number, he sat with Su Mianmian in the waiting area. A couple next to them had been incredibly excited and expectant from the start.

They were discussing where to eat to celebrate after getting their marriage certificate, and then talking about posting it on social media to dazzle all the single people there. In contrast, Su Mianmian and Gu Yizhou didn't exchange a word, acting like complete strangers.

Just then, Gu Yizhou received a call. He got up and went to the French windows to answer it. Su Mianmian silently sighed, about to take out her phone to swipe. The girl from the couple next to them quietly approached Su Mianmian, her face full of gossip. "Miss, is that your husband?"

Su Mianmian hesitated for a second. "We haven't officially registered our marriage yet, so I guess not." The girl covered her mouth and chuckled. "You two look so well-matched, but you didn't talk to each other at all the time. You don't seem like a couple at all." Su Mianmian awkwardly tugged at her lips. "He's just not very talkative."

The girl nodded. "Handsome men are usually quiet." Before she could finish speaking, the girl's boyfriend objected. "What do you mean? Are you saying I talk too much, or that I'm not handsome enough?"

The girl stuck out her tongue and quickly turned to coax her boyfriend. "I'm talking about normal men. Handsome men are quiet. You're the abnormal kind—talkative and incredibly handsome!"

Su Mianmian couldn't help but laugh. Just then, Gu Yizhou returned from his phone call, his thin lips curving into a smile. "What are you laughing at, so happy?" Su Mianmian's eyes crinkled as she pointed to the couple who had just been about to go inside to take photos.

"That girl complimented you on your looks, and her boyfriend heard it and got jealous." Gu Yizhou looked at Su Mianmian with gentle eyes. "And you? Do you think I'm handsome too?"

Su Mianmian was taken aback by Gu Yizhou's serious demeanor, and her cheeks flushed red. "It's...it's alright, I didn't look closely." At least, before today, she hadn't really looked closely. Gu Yizhou hummed in agreement. "You can look at it more later."

...After getting the marriage certificate, it was almost 10:30. Su Mianmian held the bright red booklet in her hands, momentarily dazed. She was really married?

In the registration photo, she and Gu Yizhou stood side by side. Su Mianmian, dressed in a square-neck white dress, smiled gracefully at the camera, while Gu Yizhou, with gentle eyes, leaned slightly towards Su Mianmian.

Just looking at the photo, they were a perfect match, looking like a couple who had been in love for many years. Who would know that these two didn't know each other at all? "Have you looked carefully?" A voice suddenly rang out, and Su Mianmian, feeling guilty, quickly closed her marriage certificate.

"Yes, I have." Gu Yizhou held out his hand, palm up. "Then give it to me. You have to go to school, so it's inconvenient for you to keep it safe." Su Mianmian said "Oh." She could actually keep it at home; she didn't necessarily have to take it to school.

But thinking it was just a certificate, since he offered to keep it for her, she would give it to him. Gu Yizhou took Su Mianmian's marriage certificate and placed it next to his. "What are your plans next?"

Su Mianmian didn't understand his meaning. "I've taken a day off. I'll go home later and then rush back to school tonight."

Gu Yizhou's deep gaze fixed on Su Mianmian's face. "Mrs. Gu, if I understand correctly, you're planning to separate from your husband right after you get married?"
