Chapter 17 - What did you call me?

This was the first time Su Mianmian had been called "sister-in-law," and she was a little shy. Holding the British Shorthair kitten, she seemed slightly awkward.

Gu Jingyu, ever the outgoing one, skipped over. "Sister-in-law, you like cats too? Its name is Baozi, a birthday present from my brother." "Baozi?"

Su Mianmian thought the name was adorable. "I have a Ragdoll cat named Tangtang, a little bigger than Baozi." "A Ragdoll? Do you have a picture? Let me see!" The two were of similar age and had common interests, so they quickly struck up a conversation.

By the time they left the old house, they had exchanged contact information and seemed a little reluctant to part.

Seeing Gu Jingyu clinging to Su Mianmian, Gu Yizhou's expression turned slightly serious. "Your sister-in-law and I have other things to do. If you miss her next time, you can come visit her at Yuejing Tiancheng."

Gu Jingyu was already somewhat intimidated by Gu Yizhou and rarely dared to speak to him before. Today, with his sister-in-law present, he became a little more talkative. Hearing this, she pouted but obediently let go. "Alright then, goodbye, brother and sister-in-law."

...As soon as she got in the car, Su Mianmian received a complaint message from Gu Jingyu, "Sister-in-law, brother is so fierce, hmph!"

Su Mianmian couldn't help but chuckle, glancing at the serious-looking man sitting upright in his seat, and silently replied, "He is indeed a bit fierce, I don't even dare to talk to him much." Gu Jingyu: "Huh? Even you don't dare? I feel better now."

Su Mianmian smiled, "Has he always been this serious?" Gu Jingyu:

"Uh, I don't know, he went abroad when he was twenty, I was only eight then, I don't remember much..." He went abroad at twenty and only returned last year, so he lived alone abroad for seven years?

Su Mianmian finally understood why he was such a good cook; he must have honed his skills abroad. Recalling Gu Yizhou's family atmosphere, Su Mianmian still felt a lump in her throat, and before she knew it, the car had arrived at the Su family home.

Just as she got out of the car, she ran into Tang Yunzheng walking his husky. Seeing Su Mianmian and Gu Yizhou get out together, Tang Yunzheng's expression immediately darkened, his tone accusatory.

"Su Mianmian, where have you been? You didn't come home from school yesterday, did you?" Su Mianmian felt a little awkward; after all, in Tang Yunzheng's eyes, Gu Yizhou was still her brother-in-law.

"I…" Su Mianmian was trying to think of an excuse to brush Tang Yunzheng off when Gu Yizhou patted her shoulder. "You go inside first, I'll talk to him." Su Mianmian thought for a moment, nodded, and turned to go inside.

Tang Yunzheng, holding the husky, unconsciously puffed out his chest, recalling the look Gu Yizhou had given him earlier. "What does brother-in-law want to say to me?" Gu Yizhou looked at him calmly. "You like Su Mianmian?"

Tang Yunzheng was taken aback, reflexively denying it. "Who likes her? Brother-in-law, don't talk nonsense!" "You don't like her, yet you pester her every day. Don't you think that's contradictory?" Tang Yunzheng's lips twitched. "How have I pestered her?

We grew up together. Can't I even care about her?" "No." Gu Yizhou's words were indifferent. "Remember last time I made you choose between her and your girlfriend?"

Tang Yunzheng certainly remembered. He didn't chase after Su Mianmian, which naturally meant he chose Lin Jiaojiao. Gu Yizhou frowned. "I gave you the chance, but you didn't seize it. Now you want to back out? It's too late."

After Gu Yizhou finished speaking, he straightened the buttons on his cuffs with one hand. When he looked up again, his black pupils were like a deep, still pool, chillingly cold. "Next time I see you pestering her, it won't be as simple as just having a few words with you."

It took Tang Yunzheng a long time to react after Gu Yizhou went inside. "No? He just got a lecture from Gu Yizhou? Just because he's Su Mianmian's brother-in-law? Isn't that a bit too nosy? And why are all these people so crazy?

One after another, they're saying he's fallen for Su Mianmian. Ha, likes? Does he not know who he likes?!" Tang Yunzheng grew angrier the more he thought about it. He kicked a pebble away from the roadside, and by sheer coincidence, it hit the husky. Startled, the husky howled and ran forward wildly.

Caught off guard, Tang Yunzheng stumbled forward a few steps, falling to the ground in a very awkward manner. His hands and knees were instantly scraped raw, and he grimaced in pain, "You stinky husky, you're bullying me too, aren't you?"

...When Gu Yizhou entered, Su Mianmian had almost finished packing, bringing only some of Tangtang's favorite toys and a few unopened bags of cat food. Seeing Gu Yizhou, she felt a little guilty and asked him what he had said to Tang Yunzheng.

Gu Yizhou knew what she was worried about. "We chatted for a bit. Don't worry, I didn't tell him we got our marriage certificate."

Su Mianmian sensed a hint of grievance in his words. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hide our marriage from anyone. I just didn't want to cause any unnecessary trouble."

Gu Yizhou hummed in agreement, fiddling with a small ornament on the table. "I'll wait for the day you publicly acknowledge our relationship."

These words sounded even more aggrieved, like a young wife waiting for her husband to officially acknowledge her, putting immense pressure on Su Mianmian. The two had dinner at the Su family home before returning to Yuejing Tiancheng. After settling Tangtang in, it was already quite late.

Su Mianmian dawdled, reluctant to go to her room. After Gu Yizhou finished showering, he came out and saw Su Mianmian still playing on her phone in the living room. "Not sleepy yet?"

Su Mianmian looked up and saw Gu Yizhou wearing black pajamas, the collar slightly open, revealing a patch of pale skin. His slightly messy black hair was half-dry, with a few strands hanging casually between his brows.

This was the first time Su Mianmian had seen Gu Yizhou dressed so casually. Every time she saw him before, he was always impeccably dressed in a suit, his shirt buttons always neatly fastened. Compared to that, he seemed much more down-to-earth now.

"I'm not sleepy. If you're sleepy, you can go to sleep first." Su Mianmian thought that if Gu Yizhou fell asleep first, she could go to sleep later, and she wouldn't be so nervous. "I'm fine too." Gu Yizhou said, walking to the liquor cabinet. "Do you mind if I have a drink?" Drink?

Su Mianmian's first thought was that Gu Yizhou was still hurt by his mother's attitude. Although he had pretended to be nonchalant during the day, he was still uncomfortable inside and needed a drink to relieve it. "Not at all, go ahead."

Gu Yizhou nodded, poured himself a glass of wine, and then poured Su Mianmian a glass of milk. "Drink the milk, it helps you sleep." Su Mianmian obediently took the glass and drank it in a few sips.

She looked up at Gu Yizhou, his handsome fingers casually holding the wine glass. He tilted his head back slightly, swallowing the amber liquid as his Adam's apple bobbed. Su Mianmian found Gu Yizhou somewhat sexy at that moment.

She licked her lips. "Um, can I try some of your wine?" Gu Yizhou raised an eyebrow. "Have you drunk any wine before?" Su Mianmian nodded like a chick pecking at rice. "Yes, a whole glass. I didn't feel anything afterwards."

Su Mianmian looked like a child full of curiosity about adult things. Gu Yizhou's heart softened involuntarily, his gaze gentle. "Then it's a deal, only a little bit." He handed the glass to Su Mianmian.

Su Mianmian thought Gu Yizhou would pour her a separate glass, but instead, he offered her his. The thought of Gu Yizhou's lips just touching the rim of the glass made her face burn.

But too embarrassed to be coy, she took the glass and first tasted a tiny bit, finding it slightly spicy. After a couple of seconds, feeling nothing else, she became a little bolder and took a large gulp.

Now, her throat and even her entire chest felt like they were on fire, with a faint smoky taste. Su Mianmian couldn't take it, coughing a few times, then fanning herself with her hand. Soon, her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes were brimming with tears.

Gu Yizhou quickly took the glass back from her and handed her a glass of water, which she drank. "Didn't you say you drank alcohol before?" Su Mianmian frowned. "Yes, I did, but it was beer, completely different from this."

Gu Yizhou's expression stiffened for a moment. "Su Mianmian, please finish your sentences next time."

Su Mianmian felt rather aggrieved, and her head was starting to spin. "What should I do, brother-in-law? I feel so hot in my stomach, and my head is spinning. Am I drunk?" Gu Yizhou's dark eyes were deep. "What did you call me?" "Brother-in-law."

Su Mianmian hadn't even reacted yet, and let out another sigh of annoyance. "Just one sip, and you're already drunk? If Zhizhi knew, she'd probably laugh her teeth out." Just as she was muttering to herself, a handsome face suddenly appeared before her.

Gu Yizhou leaned closer to Su Mianmian, looking down at her. "I'll ask you again, what did you call me?"
