Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: A Visit to Angel’s Share

Barbara rushed toward the door in a hurry.

But Jiang Chen didn't step aside.

"Big Brother Jiang Chen…"

Thump.

Barbara's forehead bumped straight into his chest before she quickly stepped back.

Blushing furiously, she tugged lightly at the corner of his clothes, silently asking him to let her pass.

Jiang Chen gently rubbed her head.

"I already asked Jean to arrange it with the church."

"You're coming with me."

"Coming with you…?"

Barbara's eyes instantly became flustered.

"Big Brother Jiang Chen… what do you want me to do?"

She lowered her head while asking.

Her small shoes tapped lightly on the floor.

Deep in her heart, she felt a tiny bit of anticipation.

Jiang Chen replied:

"We're going on an adventure."

"And the team happens to need a priest who can heal injuries, like you."

"…Is that all?"

Barbara sounded slightly disappointed.

"Hm?"

Jiang Chen paused.

He noticed Barbara seemed a little emotionally strange today.

Was it because she had just woken up?

He smiled and added:

"Well… seeing Barbara every day would also put me in a good mood."

"Mm!"

Barbara immediately smiled happily.

Her twin ponytails swayed as she nodded energetically.

"Also, since you obtained your Vision, you haven't really trained much, right?"

Jiang Chen asked.

"That's true."

"I only got my Vision after becoming a priest."

"And I rarely have the chance to leave Mondstadt."

Barbara admitted.

To her, the Vision itself wasn't very important.

Having it was enough.

Her dream was simply to heal people with her singing and bring smiles to everyone.

"That's why I want to take you outside the city this time."

"It will also count as training."

"You wouldn't want to collapse from exhaustion again the next time something like yesterday happens, right?"

Jiang Chen said.

Although Barbara hadn't actively absorbed Ley Line energy, Mondstadt was surrounded by Cider Lake, an environment rich in Hydro energy.

Living in that environment had naturally strengthened her.

She had reached Level 5.

But improving further would be difficult.

"I see…"

"Thank you, Big Brother Jiang Chen."

Barbara said happily.

She realized Jiang Chen had noticed how exhausted she was yesterday.

So he arranged for her to join the team and improve her strength.

At that moment—

Grrrrr.

Her stomach suddenly growled.

Her face turned bright red.

She grabbed Jiang Chen's hand.

"Big Brother Jiang Chen… food…"

"I'll ask Sara to prepare something for you."

"I still need to go find someone."

Jiang Chen said.

"Oh, and the team members are Lumine, Paimon, and Noelle."

"Lumine and Paimon… those two people?"

Barbara had seen the battle with Stormterror yesterday like many others in Mondstadt.

"Yeah."

Jiang Chen introduced them to each other after they left the attic.

Then he left Good Hunter.

He cut through a few alleyways as a shortcut and soon arrived in front of a tavern.

The sign read:

Angel's Share

4

"Welcome."

"Oh—Boss Jiang Chen! Are you here to see Master Diluc?"

The man at the entrance was Patton, a large fellow responsible for attracting customers.

Jiang Chen rarely visited Angel's Share, so Patton couldn't think of any other reason.

Sure enough—

Jiang Chen nodded.

"Yes. Is he here?"

Patton shook his head.

"Master Diluc isn't in the tavern today."

"Then let him know I'm waiting here."

Jiang Chen said.

He pushed open the door and ordered a glass of apple cider from the bartender Charles.

Then he sat on the second floor balcony, where he could clearly see the entrance.

Apple cider was non-alcoholic—fresh and refreshing.

Taverns were always the best places to hear news and rumors.

Within a short time, he had already heard customers discussing the same topic at least five times:

The new traveler who had just become a Honorary Knight of the Knights of Favonius.

Diluc arrived later than expected.

More than an hour later, the elegant red-haired man walked into the tavern.

He glanced toward the second floor.

The two exchanged nods.

Diluc grabbed a key and opened the door to the third floor, which was closed to ordinary guests.

As they walked up the spiral stairs, Diluc asked:

"Boss Jiang Chen rarely visits Angel's Share."

"Is a glass of apple cider enough for you?"

"Aren't you saving your finest wine for me?"

Jiang Chen replied.

He locked the door behind them.

Downstairs, several customers watched enviously.

Only Boss Jiang Chen could receive such treatment from Diluc.

Surely all the rare wines were stored on the third floor…

But the truth was—

Neither of them touched any alcohol.

Their earlier conversation was just a cover for the customers below.

They sat opposite each other on the sofas.

Diluc crossed his legs.

"The Abyss Order has a new leader."

"They call them the 'Prince/Princess.'"

"Recent Abyss activities are probably connected to this person."

This information came from interrogating the Abyss Mage all night.

"Unfortunately, we couldn't extract their true objective."

Diluc added.

He assumed Jiang Chen came here to ask about Abyss Order intelligence, since they had cooperated yesterday.

"That so…"

Jiang Chen murmured thoughtfully.

It matched what he expected.

This was connected to Aether.

Then he smiled.

"Actually…"

"That's not why I came to see you."
