Chapter 41 - Chapter 40: The Whiteblind Blade

Lumine had an unexplainable trust in Jiang Chen.

As long as he was there, she felt nothing bad could happen to her.

He had even said he would prepare a "big gift package" for her.

Although this battle clearly wasn't that gift—something that made her slightly disappointed.

Still, she had already received many precious gifts from him.

On her hair rested the Flower of Life from the Adventurer's artifact set.

Adventurer Artifact Set

Its mysterious power protected her.

In her hand she held the famous sword of Mondstadt—

The Favonius Sword.

Even members of the Knights of Favonius envied that blade.

All the gifts Jiang Chen had given her were protecting her right now.

Lumine thought about that.

And just as her words finished—

A violent gust of wind rushed down from the high ground.

The hilichurls surrounding them were blown away instantly.

Jiang Chen appeared in front of them.

"Storm Barrier."

Lumine recognized the technique immediately.

She quickly asked:

"The Abyss Mage…?"

"Once their shield breaks they can't teleport anymore."

Jiang Chen replied calmly.

"It won't escape."

"Let Diluc deal with it."

After destroying the mage's Cryo shield earlier, Jiang Chen had immediately returned to support the others.

"Big Brother Jiang Chen, help!"

Barbara ran toward him.

Barbara looked completely soaked.

Not much better than someone who had fallen into a lake.

Behind her, the rising water pillars suddenly stopped.

The Hydro Samachurl hopped around wildly.

Water energy surged beneath their feet.

If it completed that spell—

Everyone here would be severely injured.

"Geo Wall."

Jiang Chen instantly summoned a stone barrier.

The spell interrupted the Samachurl's casting and divided the battlefield into several sections.

"Barbara."

"Got it!"

Despite being drenched, Barbara showed a bright smile.

Her Hydro Vision shone brilliantly.

"Barbara — Shining Miracle!"

A dreamy Hydro field spread out.

Powerful healing water rained down on Lumine and Noelle.

Their injuries were almost completely healed in an instant.

"This…"

Lumine was shocked.

Her stamina returned immediately.

Though she now felt… damp.

"Everyone, keep it up!"

Barbara cheered.

"I can only support you!"

Her Hydro energy was already depleted.

Jiang Chen looked toward Noelle.

"Want to try fighting the Mitachurl?"

The Mitachurl had already awakened.

It was approaching with two hilichurl guards.

"Leave it to me!"

Noelle tightened her grip on her claymore.

"Not overestimating yourself?"

"Leave it to me."

Her determined voice carried a hint of hesitation.

Sweat ran down her cheeks.

The Mitachurl was twice her height.

"That sword won't work."

Jiang Chen suddenly pulled another claymore from his inventory.

He handed it to her.

It was beautifully crafted with excellent materials.

One special feature stood out—

A portion of the blade near the guard had no sharp edge, allowing the wielder to grip it and adjust balance during combat.

Noelle instantly recognized it.

"Is that… the famous Whiteblind?"

She stared blankly.

"For me?"

"Of course."

"It suits you perfectly."

Jiang Chen said.

Noelle's face instantly turned bright red.

The sword Whiteblind carried a famous story.

Even traveling bards often sang about it.

A humble blacksmith forged the blade for his beloved who had gone to war.

Night after night he hammered the steel—

Balancing the sword again and again.

Hoping his lover would return.

Eventually he abandoned all distractions and poured his heart into the blade—

Creating a weapon as a gift of sincere love.

"I…"

Noelle looked up at Jiang Chen with a flushed face.

Then accepted the sword.

Without another word—

She charged straight at the Mitachurl.

Her heart was racing.

Her entire body felt filled with strength.

Even a monster twice her height didn't seem so frightening anymore.

CLANG!

In the next moment—

The Mitachurl smashed her back with a single axe strike.

Reality defeated imagination instantly.

The level difference was enormous.

"I…"

Feeling embarrassed that Jiang Chen saw this, Noelle rushed forward again.

Barbara tilted her head.

"Why does Noelle look so fired up?"

"I'm not sure."

Jiang Chen shrugged.

"Maybe the Mitachurl's aggressive fighting style suits her."

Meanwhile Lumine ran toward the Samachurl.

"Barbara, I'll avenge you!"

"Go Lumine!"

Barbara cheered gratefully.

In reality—

Lumine just didn't want to fight shield hilichurls.

Breaking shields was annoying.

Samachurls and archers were much easier.

With the others occupied, Jiang Chen had to deal with the remaining monsters himself.

As dawn arrived over Stormbearer Mountains, the battle finally ended.

The massive Mitachurl collapsed.

Defeated beneath the claymore of the rose-like maid knight.

Noelle planted her sword into the ground and gasped for breath.

A surge of ley line energy poured into her body.
