Chapter 26 - chapter26-Cold war_1

The three spend their nights to discussing about what to do. Nein plans is to keep their identity a secret, Nivalis suggest them to make a group so the enemies will went for that group instead for them. Clara just listening carefully between conversation.

"A group?...but there's only two of us." Nein said with thoughtful expression.

"Then how about taking in people?. You can teach them your magic to intentionally telling them it's you." Nivalis adds thinking their power comes from magic.

It makes Nein pondering, it seems, despite knowing the fact they're coming from a different world, he doesn't know that their ability coming from a different concept entirely.

Nein look at Clara who's listening between them before sighing and decided to tell Nivalis about it. Believing he can keep this as a secret.

"I'm sorry sir Nivalis, but our ability doesn't come from magic. We don't even use a mana to cast our power. It's rather a... mutation."

Hearing that, Nivalis's eyes widen briefly before thinking carefully about his next question.

"Mutation?... So that's mean... you're not entirely human?."

Hearing his conclusion, Nein sigh again and had no choice but to tell everything to him, starting from their world and the concept.

"Earth, is a planet from where we came from. A similar place like Terra but slightly different since mana, only a things coming from fairytale. Our ability...no, it's rather a... disease if we going technically. A disease that gives us power to fight the monsters from a phenomenon called the rift. Long story short we exchange our lives for ability to fight back. It's nothing to learn but rather something you born with and growing up mastering it."

His explanation makes Nivalis thinking to himself. He looks at the siblings and got an idea.

"Then...why don't you...'infect' them and hide is as a blessings?"

His suggestion caught him off guard, it's not a bad idea since it's possible and the fact he can think about that just by a quick explanation is something else.

"Then it'll cause another problem. They'll begin to ask the origin of their 'power' eventually. We can't just make a fake god, right?."

"That's why, your sister will be the one carrying the plan. She'll make a group of her own people and deal with the path finder from behind the scene. And for their questions...I'll take part in it. I'll act as the one giving Clara her power. How's it?."

It's sounds good to him. But when hearing Clara will lead an organization, it makes him a bit worried. He looks at Nivalis and remember he's still strangled by the chain.

"That's mean you'll make a contract with her for that."

"I'm well aware."

"Then, I want you to guide her and teach her how to become a good leader."

"Very well, I shall be her guardian as well as the 'god' in disguise. I can do that."

Once hearing that, Nein smiles and look at Clara beside him.

"Are you fine with this, Clara?."

"... Yes. As long as I can help."

Nein smiles and pat her head before walking closer to Nivalis to finally free him from the chain.

"Be careful human... This chain strong enough to withstand my magic."

Nivalis warned him as he touching the chain with his hand. Nein simply ignore it and closing his eyes as he use {fog of oblivion} and focusing on the chain. Aside from disrupting sense and perception, {fog of oblivion} also capable of erasing data. And since magic are a bunch of math and geometry, he can dispell it just like how he does with electronics.

The sight of it makes Nivalis shocked as he feels the floor again. Not even devine magic can help him, but this human only need to touch it and makes him glad he's not in the bad side. He watch his casual expression before smiling and changing his form.

"I'm... grateful for knowing you. Nein and his sister, Clara." He says after revealing his human form.

Now, it's no longer a huge talking snake before them, but a man with a long snow-white hair, wearing a plain white robe with a wise expression on top. His purple eyes calm and collected as he approaching Nein.

"Now...shall we talk about the contract?."

Meanwhile, away from the cave, a certain man sitting inside a lavish manor away from the snow. His peace disturbed when a magician barge into his room with panicked expression.

"Lord Ruffen!."

The mages called the man's name with worry.

"Someone's better dying." Ruffen said gruffly.

"The...the seals keeping the serpent...is broken.." the mages explain while struggling to breathe.

"What?..."

The next afternoon, Nein's taking the duchess along with the others to meet Nivalis. To let them meet the guardian of the snowfields they never know. It's only Nein this time as Clara's already doing her part collecting people into her organization.

"No need to act like you greeting god, duchess, sir Nivalis is friendly and he prefer others to address him simply as a guardian."

Nein explain briefly to the nervous and anxious leader behind him. Unlike Nein who unable to sense mana, he only takes the place like a regular cave, but for them however, they're suffocated by the density of it, not even dared to whisper as they following him. Even the knights following them already at their limit.

"Here we are, please raise your head to greet him."

He says casually after stopping and stepping aside. They raise their head and shocked by what they're seeing and immediately drop to their knees. A being who possess a huge amount of mana radiating around him that surpasses even the archmage, standing Infront of them.

Nivalis simply smile before gathering back his aura and approaching with a deliberate step toward the kneeling leaders.

"Please pardon me for the welcome. I simply want to test something and it seems I was wrong. Please forgive me."

He apologize to the trembling leader along with their knights with a friendly smile as he kneel down to greet them.

"What did you do to them exactly?."

Nein casual words caught them off guard as their eyes widen in terror.

"This is a normal thing. Human... usually passed out if they breathing too much mana than the oxygen. But in your case, I thought it was me who got weaker but no, looks like I'm still in a good shape. You're really an odd one, Nein."

Seeing Nivalis talking to Nein with leisure, making them even bewildered and remember it was in fact Nein, the first who met this man and realized there's more about Nein winter they didn't know.

They begin to rise up to their feet but keeping their head low. Nivalis simply smile and returned to his throne before creating a table for others to sit.

"Well then, let us talk."

Meanwhile, Clara's been wandering around the country and looking up 'stray people' like what Nein and Nivalis explain to her.
