Sewing wasn't fun to watch but watching him so it felt nice, like I was experiencing something never expected.
"Is it still loud?"
"Don't worry about it."
All motors make sound.
I was already thinking of moving out though it was against school rules. Anyone who wanted to could bypass rules, I could give an excuse but then I hadn't met his parents yet and he didn't think it was necessary to buy our way through. He was still a minor afterall.
I turn from him and the grumbling motor to my ringing phone and frown. Getting my sister to call me was the rarest gems in the world. I'd been thinking she'd retired into some cave to live her recluse life.
-This better be good stone.
-Did you tell them to come back home?
Them, and she wasn't reacting to the name like she always does. Oh! Had they found my message? I was thinking two more months but it seems they still miss human interaction.
-They who?
Better not give in or I wouldn't get to hear the end of it.
I'd sent them a message when I went to save their first born son, something to do with heirs and runaway brides. It was the perfect bait... unanimous too so of course the first person they would look for would be her.
It was for her own sake, she wasn't home so , if they'd called me, I wouldn't have told her.
Questions like who among them has a wife and who has a wife and son so they'd evaluate the news lay upon her. Wasn't it good to snitch on someone who made you toil for them for three or so weeks straight.
-You really did, I haven't even gotten a week of rest.
-How many days are in your week? It's been two weeks five days since you blocked Arachner.
I know about it because my not so married brother calls me everyday to help him keep count of the days she's missing.
-Fine! Don't tell Arachner...they are thinking of surprising him
-Where are they?
-I am picking them from the airport
-And you just landed, huh!
That means I could give it a week before I went over to my paternal home with Blane. I look at the calendar above Blane's work post. We have a break next week which aligned perfectly. I looked at Blane working and smiled when he looked towards my direction, I'd need to meet his parents first, heard they were in country P.
The only problems we have now are his parents. I know I shouldn't have looked into his family...or parts of it even though I'd made a promise not to but I had no choice. They are hurting him, I don't know if it's knowingly or not but he is hurting.
I think Jennifer was talking more but I chose to just hung up, at least I heard something to do with '...I can see them now...' or maybe not.
"What's wrong?"
"My sister is back to work."
"Arachner found her?"
"No! I might have sent my parents a message so they come home and she feels threatened by it."
"She fears them."
"Not really, but, maybe. After she run away from school back then, she came back looking like a scarecrow. Now she's somewhat dependant on what the family thinks of her. Before her writing picks up, I don't think she'll see herself as anything."
She didn't know our parents had veered from the hotel business and bought a publishing house back then just for her. Arachner didn't know, even I wasn't supposed to. I'd found out because I'd had the same idea.
This were using this just to make sure she was motivated enough. Arachner's way of standing with her was giving her an off, but I wasn't going to tell her.
Two hours later and I was looking at a finished piece. Blane was drawing a sketch of it on the side while I was looking at the details, he'd given me the job to take photos. It looks great, from the fabric choice...but there were tiny mistakes, the seams, the finishing. He needs to continue practicing using that machine more but the idea is there, it has taken shape and I am proud he's gotten it done and not given up halfway.
"What do you think?"
"It looks great though there are little skemishes we can work on."
"Those aren't little...but I don't really mind then. If I practice more I could ace the construction class."
"Do you start from scratch for exams?"
"Yes! Drafting then construction. But looking at this, it's worth the three or so days. I need to check on speed and..."
I peck his lips.
"Rome wasn't built in a day. You should be proud of your first project...I am proud."
"Don't do that."
"Why not?"
"I'll get all shy and red in the face. Also, I'll get all peacock when you praise me."
And what is wrong with seeing my boyfriend in that state? What is wrong with me praising my boyfriend? This is his first project without a tutor, just the occasional Taffy who he calls from time to time. He has gotten something from this, it looks wearable too. He can strut around for all to see if he wants to, I'll help get him a crown and everything.
While busy, a week could end so fast. Friday, on Fridays, I only have one lesson which comes before lunch. Blane has two, one early morning and the other before lunch.
I'd dropped him off early this morning before walking towards the engineering canteen where the others were sat. The engineering canteen had somewhat become our meeting spot. One because the guys generally enjoy food and another is because they generally don't find me otherwise.
"You had breakfast?"
"Yeah!"
I'd woken up early just to make it for the two of us.
"We have a break the whole week, are you going to country R?"
"No! I am going to my parents."
"Is it something serious this time?"
"They are soon going to be grandparents...I heard they were going to meet Arachner's to be in-laws."
Now that is new, and to know that Quint knows about it and I don't is kind of unnerving in many ways. But it was okay, I was used to it, Quint has been like family for the longest time possible. You can see it with the way our friends didn't even question him knowing about this.
"Barnard!"
"I am trying to win someone over and I have to be around to do it."
"Still hasn't talked to you?"
"No! Give me advice on that."
"I don't want time out because of you so count me out on that."
"Quint?"
"I'll be going there. There's something Riley wants me to take care of."
And maybe he also needed to run away from his family. To tell the truth, we always run away during holidays. We have been at it for a good while though we vow to be around during Thanksgiving. Coming to this school had also been something we'd closed our eyes over and voted on.
Kristoff chose to go to some countryside to make some film and Rashid chose to follow Quint.
"You know you can't draw people shooting each other, right?"
"I can draw the miners at work."
"Or go to the countryside and experience fishing."
"Country T could always welcome you."
"What year haven't I gone there. Barnard wants a cover for some book, it's the reason I am going there."
Yeah! I might have forgotten to mention that the other way Barnard uses to vent is by writing... anonymously writing and publishing has always been his thing. It helps him clear his thoughts.
