Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Forbidden Recruitment Letter

Location: Cloudleaf City – Qin Family Courtyard, Three Days Later

The estate was quieter than usual.

Though the Broken Sword Test had ended, whispers still spread like wildfire. Qin Xiaoxiao's victory was impressive, but the mystery of Qin Huaian was what truly unsettled the elders.

A boy who had no cultivation.

A sword strike that did no harm.

No spiritual qi, no protective talisman… and yet, no wound.

Elder Qin Yao paced inside his chambers, frowning deeply. "That child… he must be watched." Meanwhile, Elder Fengyuan remained unusually silent in family meetings.

He knew what was coming.

And it came faster than he expected.

📩 Arrival of the Envoy

On the third morning after the test, a black-robed figure arrived at the Qin estate gates.

He rode no beast. He walked through mist. His face was masked, and his robes bore no clan insignia—only a black lotus embroidered with silver threads. A symbol long banned by the Five Families.

The Black Lotus Sect.

One of the ancient rogue sects that had vanished hundreds of years ago. Rumored to be destroyed after attempting forbidden research into Heaven-Denial Bloodlines and Void mutation.

And yet, here stood one of their envoys, holding a letter sealed in wax with a blood-red Void rune.

He handed it to the outer guards with only five words:

> "Deliver to Qin Huaian. Immediately."

Then, without another word, he vanished.

🕯️ The Letter

Later that evening, while training alone in the old courtyard, Huaian received the scroll from a nervous servant. The moment he touched it, the ring on his finger warmed.

The seal unraveled without him even peeling it.

Inside, written in ancient script, were just three lines:

> "We know what sleeps within you.

The Void remembers its heirs.

Should you seek truth beyond heaven—come to the Nightshade Valley before the 12th moon."

There was no name. No signature.

But Huaian's hand trembled.

Not from fear—but from instinct. The ring pulsed with approval. And deep in his spiritual sea, the Void Flame flared violently, as though reacting to the message.

> "The Void… remembers…"

He hid the scroll immediately.

👥 Meeting with Fengyuan

That night, under the ancient plum tree, Huaian met with Qin Fengyuan, the only man who had guided him without judgment.

"I received… this," Huaian said, handing over the letter.

Fengyuan's brows furrowed. He read the lines slowly, then looked up—his face paler than usual.

> "The Black Lotus was thought destroyed. Their practices were heretical, but… some believe they were the last true masters of the Void Path."

He paused.

> "If they are reaching out to you… then the echoes of your Void Flame have stirred something deep and ancient."

"But should I go?" Huaian asked.

Fengyuan was silent for a long time.

Then he spoke quietly.

> "When your foundation is stable—yes. But not now. You're too early."

He leaned forward, his tone more serious than ever before.

> "Make no mistake. Once you step into the world of true Void cultivation, the five families will no longer protect you. They will hunt you."

Huaian nodded.

Inside, he already knew.

And still… he felt drawn to the truth.

Later that night, Xiaoxiao found Huaian sitting quietly, his hand clenched around something hidden.

"You've been different again," she said, nudging him. "What is it?"

He looked at her—and almost told her.

But stopped.

> "Soon," he whispered. "When the time is right… I'll tell you everything."

She smiled, leaning back beside him.

> "Just don't leave me behind, Void-boy."

And deep inside his spiritual sea, the Void Flame pulsed in rhythm with his heartbeat—no longer silent… but waiting.
