Whew...
Finally back in the village!
After settling matters in the Land of Fire, Haru rushed back to Konoha without stopping for a moment.
He had only just become Hokage and had already left the village on his very first day. Haru was worried someone might try to stir up trouble while he was gone.
To take care of Faye and Lynn, he had even specially hired a carriage.
After all, the two of them were ordinary people. They had no ability to run across rooftops or leap from tree to tree while traveling.
Still, Haru did not make a grand return to the Hokage's office. He planned to head home first, settle Faye and Lynn in properly, and keep his beauties hidden away in a golden house for a while.
Social death would come sooner or later, but one had to remember this: if you could hide until the fifteenth, then by all means do not die on the first.
Unfortunately, heaven did not indulge his wishes.
Haru had forgotten to change out of his clothes. The Hokage robe he was wearing was simply too eye-catching, and Tomita spotted him immediately.
"Haru-sama, you're back?"
Tomita's face lit up with delight, and he immediately came up to greet him.
"Mm, I'm back, I'm back."
Haru answered casually, with no intention of lingering here with Tomita. He was heading straight home.
"And who's in the carriage?"
"Gifts, gifts. Gifts the Daimyo gave me!"
"That many?"
"The Daimyo was just too enthusiastic. Couldn't be helped."
Haru lowered his head and quickened his pace.
"Hey, you lot over there, why are you so blind? Hurry up and help the Clan Head take the carriage. And move the Daimyo's gifts into the Clan Head's house while you're at it."
Tomita called out to several young Uchiha passing by.
Minor chores like pulling a carriage and moving things around were not tasks that should waste Haru's time.
Tomita was still anxious to go over the accounts with Haru and properly place the extra 1 billion ryo onto the clan's books.
1 billion ryo was no small sum. Even the clan's professional accountants would need time to forge the records properly. Some of the receipts and paperwork would also need Haru's seal as Hokage.
"Got it, Tomita-sama!"
"Coming!"
Several cool young men immediately ran over. The chance to do something for Haru was something they could only dream of.
They did not even give Haru a chance to refuse before grabbing the reins of the carriage.
Haru tightly held onto the reins in his own hand and waved repeatedly, trying to turn them down.
But to the young men, this only looked like a token refusal.
"Clan Head-sama, what kind of gift did the Daimyo send? A whole carriage full!"
Then the thing Haru had feared most finally happened.
Driven by curiosity, one of the young men directly pulled open the curtain.
"Ah..."
Faye and Lynn clung tightly to each other. Haru had instructed them that, without his permission, they were not allowed to speak carelessly. His stern expression had frightened them, and they had been nervous the entire journey. Now, hearing so many unfamiliar voices all at once, they instinctively huddled even closer together.
Gift?
This was the Daimyo's gift?
The young Uchiha men looked at the pair of twin sisters in the carriage, and their eyes practically bulged out of their sockets.
Clan Head-sama, you're really into some wild things!
It's over.
Haru's heart died on the spot. His dignity shattered all over the ground in that instant.
"Clan Head-sama, I..."
Cold sweat poured down Tomita's back. Even if you beat him to death, he never would have imagined that Haru's "gift" meant this.
He wasn't going to get silenced, was he?
"What are you staring at? Drop the curtain!"
"And all of you, get lost already!"
Haru exploded in embarrassment and immediately began driving people away. The young men naturally wanted nothing more than to flee this dangerous scene, and each of them ran off as fast as they could.
"Tomita, you stay."
Haru's words sounded like the whisper of a devil, making Tomita, who had been planning to grease his feet and run first, stop dead in his tracks.
"Haru-sama, is there anything else you need?"
"Go prepare a big bed for me. The kind that can sleep three people."
Since things had already turned out like this, he might as well pursue the thrill to the end. Haru had decided to stop pretending. Besides, Faye and Lynn's identities had to be accounted for somehow.
As Hokage, every move he made would be watched closely. There was no way he could hide it for long.
"Understood, Haru-sama!"
Tomita inwardly marveled that Haru truly was young. His energy was astonishing.
Tomita himself had already entered the ranks of middle age. As for the unspeakable troubles of middle-aged men... better not to mention them.
Originally, Tomita had wanted to take the chance to leave, but since Haru had stopped him, there were some things he might as well say now and save trouble later.
As Hokage, as the head of the Uchiha clan, and as someone with noble blood who already possessed two bloodline limits, Haru really should take a wife from within the clan.
That way, the children he produced would preserve the purity of the bloodline to the greatest possible extent, and naturally their talent would be optimal as well.
As long as Haru gave the word, Tomita could immediately conduct a grand selection within the clan and have a suitable young woman married to Haru at once.
The clan elders had already begun pushing the matter. Those who had granddaughters were especially eager. This really could not be delayed any longer. When they had been Haru's age, their children were already old enough to call them father.
As for the sisters sent by the Daimyo, keeping them as outside women was hardly a big deal in a great clan. It was not anything unusual. But if they wanted to become the official wife of the Uchiha Clan Head, that would likely be quite difficult.
"Got it, got it."
Haru waved his hand, having no intention of arguing with Tomita over the matter.
Faye and Lynn had been completely unexpected in the first place. If not for the reward from that ridiculous task, he never would have accepted them.
But it really was satisfying.
As for some future wife or whatever, he would just let things happen naturally. As long as she was pretty, that was enough. Haru had not thought that far ahead.
Seeing that Haru had no objection, Tomita was relieved and went off to prepare the oversized bed.
After settling in Faye and Lynn, Haru and Tomita headed together to the Hokage Building to work, intending to stamp the approval documents for the false accounts ahead of time, just as the Finance Minister of the Land of Fire had requested, so there would be no trouble later.
"How much?"
"What did you just say?"
"2 billion!"
Tomita dropped into his chair with a slap.
The extra 1 billion had already been an unexpected delight. Now the amount had doubled again.
"Calm down."
Haru waved his hand, telling Tomita not to get so excited. Why was he acting like he had never seen the world before?
It was only after visiting the Ministry of Finance in the Land of Fire that Haru realized just how greedy those damned parasites truly were, and just how much wealth they were skimming.
Commercial tax evasion alone was enough to support another Konoha.
And that was not even counting the massive profits hidden in land taxes.
Money. Money. More money!
Without money, there was no way to develop.
If he wanted to complete the roulette's tasks, he had to find every possible way to make money. There was no hope of realizing the Dream of Konoha by relying only on funding from the Land of Fire. The requirement that ninja from other villages would willingly become missing-nin just to join Konoha was definitely not some low bar.
He had to turn Konoha into America.
Only then would countless migrating ninja come running to join!
