"Boss, you're going to die!" Wraith yelled, taking a step toward the altar. "You have to disconnect!"
"Do not touch me, Wraith!" Valerie shrieked, her voice echoing with a fierce, unyielding corporate authority that made the Assassin freeze in his tracks.
She didn't care about the pain. She didn't care that her physical nervous system felt like it was being fed through a meat grinder. She gripped her carved oak staff so tightly her knuckles turned bone-white. She reached deep into the very core of Earth's primary leyline, forcefully grabbing the entire, infinite mana pool of the planet.
"Galleon! Drop the final safety governors!" Valerie commanded, blood spilling over her lips. "Give me everything!"
"We're going to blow a hole in the continent!" Galleon cried out, but the dwarf didn't hesitate. He slammed his heavy boot down on the primary release lever.
