Chapter 98 - Chapter 98 Defeating the Strong with the Weak

Since they didn't know where Hitmonlee's renter had been tied up, Ash decided to have his subordinates send Hitmonlee back after the P1 Grand Prix ended. Hitmonlee expressed its gratitude for Ash's help and handed Ash a business card. After reading it, Ash realized that the company Hitmonlee had partnered with was actually his own!

"Hahaha, what a surprise. I didn't expect you to be a fighting-type Pokémon contracted with our company!"

"Hitmon!" (I didn't expect this either. Thank you so much for providing us with a training platform!)

Actually, this Hitmonlee was a wild Pokémon. The reason it signed a contract with Ash's company was to participate in fighting tournaments. Since there was a clan of Machamp, Machoke, and Machop in the back mountain, a bunch of fighting-type Pokémon could spar with each other. For a battle-crazy Pokémon, signing a contract with Ash's company to participate in fighting tournaments was simply too good to be true.

On the other hand, Anthony's Hitmonchan lost, defeated at the hands of a cloaked man's Machoke.

"As expected, our training isn't enough, Hitmonchan."

"Hitmon..."

However, the cloaked giant walked up and said, "You are too obsessed with training. This actually prevents your Pokémon from resting properly. Like this, it's impossible for it to make any more progress."

Rebecca ran over at this moment and looked at Anthony. "Dad!"

Looking at his daughter, Anthony thought about the cloaked man's words, then thought about what Ash had said earlier, and sighed.

"It's true, I've been obsessed. Focusing so much on training that I forgot about my family. I'm sorry, Rebecca, for making you worry so much."

Hearing Anthony apologize like this, Rebecca smiled, and Anthony smiled as well.

"It's okay, Dad. It's good that you can see clearly now."

Watching the touching scene between father and daughter, the cloaked man nodded. Meanwhile, Ash walked over holding his Psyduck and said, "Although what you said is very correct, don't you think it's a bit like noob-stomping to bring an Elite Four-level Pokémon to this battle? Bruno!"

Ash's words caused the entire stadium to erupt in an uproar! Because Bruno was one of the Kanto Elite Four! And the cloaked man also threw off his cloak.

"You actually saw through it. But you're carrying a Pikachu and a Meowth... you must be Ash? Your Primeape is quite strong. How about we have a battle?"

Ash patted the Primeape beside him, and Primeape was also fired up!

"Let's do it! But let me reiterate. That Machoke of yours is Elite Four-level, while my Primeape is only at the peak of the Elite tier. Normally, this would be a tough fight, but instances of defeating the strong with the weak aren't unprecedented."

"Oh? Then let me see how you plan to win!"

Announcer: "The finals are about to begin! Who will the championship belt go to? Will it be Machoke, or the ultimate dark horse, Primeape? Now, let the P1 Grand Prix finals begin!"

On the ring, Primeape and Machoke stared dead at each other. Neither rushed to attack, because in a battle between masters, one moment of carelessness could mean the end. At the same time, Machoke was also staring at Bruno.

Seeing Primeape taking deep breaths, Bruno wasn't surprised and directly ordered: "Go, Machoke, let's fight!"

"Use Fury Swipes!"

Against an Elite Four-level Pokémon, rather than Ash dictating every move, it was better to let Primeape act on its own. Because by the time Ash called out a move, the opponent would likely have already prepared a countermeasure. Primeape's Fury Swipes surprised Machoke, but Machoke quickly reacted and launched a Karate Chop. Primeape then used Fire Punch.

"Ora Ora Ora Ora!!!"

Seeing Primeape's super-fast punches, Bruno shouted to Machoke, "Use Protect!"

A green film of light appeared. Seeing Protect, Ash didn't despair; instead, a faint smile appeared on his face. Bruno also realized something was wrong, but it was too late!

Primeape's furious attacks continuously pounded against Machoke's shield. As Primeape's attacks grew increasingly relentless, the Protect barrier shattered.

But Primeape didn't stop. It unleashed an endless Ora Ora barrage.

"Using Protect in front of Primeape is your biggest mistake! Primeape, Ora him!"

The moment the shield broke, Primeape's Ora Ora didn't cease.

Machoke used Karate Chop to attack Primeape's arm, forcing it back a step, but this also completely ignited Primeape's ferocity.

"Don't hold back! Attack with all your power!"

The most primitive battle began. Primeape's Fury Swipes, Thrash, the elemental punches, Mega Punch, and straight punches. Machoke and Primeape accumulated more and more injuries. It was obvious Primeape couldn't hold on much longer. After all, it was only at the peak of the Elite tier, while Machoke was at the Elite Four level. Primeape only managed to last this long by constantly recovering stamina with Deep Breathing.

Bruno couldn't help but nod and said, "To be able to fight an Elite Four level to this extent, your Primeape is incredibly strong! But it's over! Machoke, Vital Throw!"

Machoke instantly dashed in front of Primeape, grabbed it, and executed its signature move, Vital Throw.

Watching the match, Brock shivered. Suzie also looked at Primeape with concern.

Primeape crashed heavily onto the ring, but relying on Ash's breathing techniques, it managed to stand back up.

Looking at Primeape, Ash couldn't help but say, "That's enough, Primeape." Primeape also nodded in agreement. It had done very well to push it this far.

Bruno saw this and said, "Choosing to surrender is indeed the right..."

"It's enough! Depth 9! Final Burst!"

"What?!"

Seeing Primeape rapidly dash in front of Machoke, Bruno shouted, "Use Protect!"

However, when Machoke tried to use Protect, it found its body paralyzed and unable to move!

"It's too late! Primeape, deliver that punch! To the spot where you struck him before!"

"Roar!!!"

With a scream from Machoke, the energy Primeape had driven into Machoke's body earlier erupted, followed by a violent tremor. Machoke fell to its knees, and Primeape collapsed on the ground, panting heavily, eyes locked onto Machoke, waiting for the referee's decision.

"Machoke is unable to battle! The winner is Primeape! It has defeated an Elite Four and won the P1 Grand Prix championship!"

Bang!

With the announcement, Primeape could no longer hold on and slowly fell backward. But just as it was about to hit the ground, someone caught it. Primeape looked over and saw Ash supporting it with a smile.

"Don't fall before receiving the championship, I still have to put the championship belt on you."

Hearing Ash's words, Primeape's eyes grew moist. On the other side, Pikachu and Meowth also came over to help support Primeape. Even Psyduck hugged Primeape's leg.

"Awesome! Primeape actually defeated an Elite Four!" Misty yelled excitedly.

Watching Ash and the others supporting Primeape to keep it from falling, Suzie smiled gently. "He's just as gentle as always, Ash..."

After personally putting the championship belt on Primeape, Ash smiled and praised, "The championship belt suits you perfectly."

Bruno walked over and said to Ash, "That was incredible. Was that your original move just now?"

"Yes."

"Primeape did a great job."

"Thank you. I'm looking forward to our match at the Indigo Plateau!"

At this time, Anthony walked over and said, "Your Primeape is very talented. He might be a genius. How about letting me train him to become a professional fighter?"

"Roar?" Primeape hid behind Ash.

Ash pulled Primeape behind him and said, "No thanks. With your training methods, Primeape would be ruined. You should focus on balancing work and rest. I'm more than capable of training Primeape myself."
