Chapter 19 - “Hearts That Never Left”

The morning after September 18 didn't feel real.

For a few quiet seconds, everything was still.

Sunlight slipped softly through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room. The air was calm—too calm for what had just happened the night before.

And then—

Emma's phone vibrated.

Once.

Twice.

Then nonstop.

She groaned, half-buried under her blanket.

"…Why is the world attacking me…"

Across the room, Ella stirred, her eyes barely opening.

"Turn it off…"

"I can't even find it," Emma mumbled, blindly reaching around.

Another vibration.

And another.

And another.

Elia, already awake and standing by the window, glanced back at them. Her phone was in her hand—and unlike Emma, she was actually looking at it.

Her expression shifted.

Just slightly.

"…You should wake up."

Emma peeked out from under the blanket.

"That doesn't sound good."

Ella sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes.

"What is it…?"

Elia hesitated for half a second.

Then turned her phone toward them.

"It's not bad."

A pause.

"…It's bigger than that."

Emma squinted at the screen.

Then blinked.

Then sat up instantly.

"WHAT—"

Ella leaned closer.

And froze.

On the screen—

Their comeback song.

Number one.

Not just locally.

Everywhere.

Trending charts.

Music platforms.

Social media.

Their name was everywhere.

Their song was climbing—no, dominating.

Emma grabbed her own phone now, fully awake.

"No way… no way… no way—"

Ella covered her mouth as she opened her notifications.

They weren't just a lot.

They were overwhelming.

Mentions.

Tags.

Messages.

Fans.

Clips.

Edits.

Reactions.

Everything.

"…It's all about us…" she whispered.

Elia scrolled calmly—but even she couldn't hide it now.

"The song hit one million streams overnight."

Emma's head snapped up.

"OVERNIGHT?!"

Ella's eyes widened.

"That's… that's insane…"

Elia nodded.

"And it's still rising."

Emma jumped out of bed, pacing again like she always did when overwhelmed.

"No—no—this is crazy—did we break something??"

Ella laughed softly, still in disbelief.

"I think… we broke the internet."

Elia allowed a small smile.

"…It seems like it."

They gathered closer together, sitting on the bed now, all three of them staring at their screens.

Emma opened a video.

It was from last night.

Their performance.

But not from the stage camera—

From the crowd.

The fans.

Their voices.

Loud. Clear. Emotional.

Singing every word.

Emma went quiet.

"…They already know the lyrics…"

Ella's voice softened.

"They learned it so fast…"

Elia watched silently.

But her grip on her phone tightened just slightly.

Another video.

Fans crying.

Fans screaming.

Fans holding up banners:

"WELCOME BACK 3Es"

"7 YEARS WITH YOU"

"WE WAITED"

Ella's eyes filled again.

"…They really did…"

Emma exhaled slowly, sitting down again.

"…They really did wait."

Notifications kept pouring in.

Emma opened social media again.

Trending hashtags:

#3EsComeback

#September18

#7YearsWith3Es

#TheyReturned

And then—

#WeMissedYou

Emma froze for a moment.

Then showed the others.

Ella smiled through tears.

"…That one…"

Elia nodded quietly.

"…That says everything."

Suddenly, Emma gasped again.

"WAIT—look at this!"

She turned her phone toward them.

A well-known music channel had posted:

"3Es' comeback becomes the fastest trending release of the year."

Ella blinked.

"…Fastest?"

Elia leaned in slightly.

"…We weren't expecting that."

Emma grinned, still overwhelmed.

"I wasn't expecting ANY of this!"

They kept scrolling.

Fan edits.

Performance clips.

Slow-motion dance moments.

Vocal highlights.

Even memes.

Emma burst out laughing suddenly.

"WHY is there a compilation of me almost tripping?!"

Ella leaned over.

"Wait—play it."

"I refuse—"

Elia reached over and tapped it anyway.

The three of them watched.

Emma covering her face.

Ella laughing uncontrollably.

Elia trying not to laugh—

…and failing.

For a moment, it felt normal again.

Like before.

Just the three of them.

But then—

Another notification.

Another article.

Another milestone.

Ella's voice turned quiet again.

"…It's not slowing down."

Emma looked at her screen.

"…It's getting bigger."

Elia locked her phone for a second.

"…This is just the beginning."

Silence settled—but not a heavy one.

A full one.

The kind that comes when something finally sinks in.

"We did it," Emma said softly.

Not loud.

Not dramatic.

Just real.

Ella nodded slowly.

"We really came back."

Elia looked at both of them.

"And they came back to us."

Emma suddenly flopped backward onto the bed again.

"Okay—but now I'm nervous."

Ella tilted her head.

"Nervous?"

Emma stared at the ceiling.

"What if we can't keep this up?"

The room grew quieter.

That thought—

It was real.

Ella looked down at her hands.

"…What if we disappoint them?"

Elia didn't answer immediately.

She stepped closer.

Then sat down in front of them.

"Look at me," she said calmly.

They did.

"We didn't get here by accident."

Her voice was steady.

"We worked for this."

She glanced between them.

"And they didn't wait for perfection."

A pause.

"They waited for us."

Emma blinked.

Ella's expression softened.

Elia continued.

"So we don't need to be perfect."

She gave a small, rare smile.

"We just need to be real."

For a moment—

Everything felt clear again.

Emma sat up slowly.

"…Okay."

Ella nodded gently.

"…Okay."

Then Emma suddenly clapped her hands.

"BUT ALSO—we're trending number one so I'm celebrating."

Ella laughed.

"There it is."

Elia sighed.

"As expected."

Emma grabbed her phone again.

"We should post something."

Ella nodded.

"To thank them."

Elia agreed.

"But keep it simple."

A few minutes later, the three of them sat close together again.

Same as last night.

Same feeling.

Emma held up the phone.

"Okay—no overthinking."

Ella smiled softly.

"Just us."

Elia nodded.

"Always."

Click.

This time, they weren't tired.

They weren't messy.

They weren't emotional.

Well—

Maybe a little.

But mostly—

They were proud.

Emma typed the caption slowly.

Then paused.

"…What do we say?"

Ella thought for a second.

Then spoke softly.

"Thank you for waiting."

Elia added,

"And for loving us."

Emma smiled.

"…Got it."

She typed:

"Thank you for waiting. Thank you for loving us. We're just getting started."

She looked at them.

"Ready?"

Ella nodded.

"Ready."

Elia gave a small, confident smile.

"Post it."

Emma tapped the button.

Within seconds—

Notifications exploded again.

But this time—

They didn't rush to check.

They didn't panic.

They didn't feel overwhelmed.

They just sat there.

Together.

Watching the moment happen.

Feeling it.

Emma leaned back slightly.

"…This feels different."

Ella nodded.

"…Stronger."

Elia looked at both of them.

"…Ours."

Outside, the world was talking about them.

Streaming their song.

Sharing their voices.

Celebrating their return.

But inside—

It was quiet again.

Warm.

Steady.

Real.

Their comeback wasn't just successful.

It was meaningful.

And as their song continued to rise—

Charts climbing.

Fans growing louder.

The world watching—

One thing was certain.

3Es weren't just back.

They were unstoppable.
