Rhett searched the nearby seas with the girl. He found no island with skilled shipwrights. Most places were even more primitive than Burubu.
He returned to the recovering town.
The town was rebuilding. Joy Boy's energy had worked. People had hope again.
They set sail again. The siblings, A-Yang and A-Xing, officially joined Joy Boy's crew. They were young but eager.
They had called Joy Boy "captain," but they believed there was someone above him. Someone who told Joy Boy what to do. They were shocked to learn Rhett wasn't part of the crew. They were sad he would leave.
The girl placed a hand on each of their heads. "Shared memories are precious."
They hugged her, crying. She comforted them.
Rhett watched, pleased.
---
They sailed for days. Joy Boy played with the children on his rubber ship.
Then, a strange sound came from the sky.
Rhett looked up. His mist spread, covering his ship.
The girl stood, ready.
Joy Boy sensed the danger.
A sleek craft descended from the clouds. Silver warriors in armor appeared. They pointed their weapons at the girl.
"Return the Holy Maiden. Surrender for judgment."
Before, she would have frozen.
Now, she stood still. Her eyes were cold and calm. She was ready.
Joy Boy stepped forward. "Don't hurt her!"
Rhett stood beside her. His mist formed nine dragons.
"Judgment?" He laughed. "You're wrong."
He drew his sword. "Now, I judge you."
