The First Attack
The attack came three nights later.
Most students were asleep when explosions shattered the silence of the academy grounds.
Flames erupted near the eastern gate.
Screams echoed across the courtyard.
Kael woke instantly and rushed outside.
Dark-cloaked figures moved across the battlefield with terrifying speed.
Void Hunters.
One of them noticed Kael immediately.
"There he is."
Another hunter stepped forward.
"The heir of the Abyss."
Kael summoned his Abyss Blade as darkness wrapped around his arm.
"So you finally came."
The hunter drew a curved black sword.
"Your father died screaming."
Kael's expression turned cold.
"Then I'll make sure you don't leave alive."
The battle began.
