The First Monsters
The moment the group entered the ruins, monsters appeared.
Dozens of them.
Shadow creatures with glowing red eyes crawled across the broken stone paths.
"Looks like the welcoming committee," Leon muttered.
Students quickly prepared their spells.
Kael stepped forward.
Abyss energy gathered in his hand.
The first monster lunged at him.
Kael used Shadow Step instantly, appearing behind it.
One slash.
The creature collapsed.
More monsters rushed toward the group.
Fire spells, wind blades, and lightning attacks filled the air.
But Kael noticed something strange.
These monsters seemed drawn specifically toward him.
Seraphine whispered from behind.
"They can sense the Abyss."
