Ambush in the Ruins
Just as the group prepared to leave the chamber, a sudden sound echoed through the ruins.
Footsteps.
Dozens of them.
Leon immediately summoned blue flames around his hands.
"Well, that can't be good."
Dark figures appeared in the hallway entrance.
Void Hunters.
More than before.
At least twenty of them surrounded the chamber.
One of the hunters stepped forward.
"You shouldn't have come here."
Kael recognized the voice instantly.
The hunter captain from the academy attack.
His armor was damaged but clearly repaired.
"You survived," Kael said calmly.
The captain smiled coldly.
"I told you we would meet again."
His eyes shifted toward the ring on Kael's hand.
"So the relic chose you."
Kael slowly raised his Abyss Blade.
"You're not taking it."
The hunters drew their weapons simultaneously.
The chamber filled with deadly tension.
The captain gave the order.
"Kill them."
