Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Awakening

The forest had become a battlefield.

Gunfire.

Howls.

The smell of blood and silver filled the air.

At the center of it all—

Arthur stood facing the monstrous creature the hunters had unleashed.

The beast circled him slowly.

Its claws carved deep lines into the earth as it moved.

Its glowing eyes never left Arthur.

The creature had learned.

Arthur was no longer just prey.

He was a threat.

The monster lunged.

Arthur moved.

The claw that could split a tree trunk sliced through empty air as Arthur stepped inside the attack and drove his fist into the creature's ribs.

BOOM.

The impact echoed like a hammer striking stone.

The creature staggered backward.

But it didn't fall.

Instead, its muscles bulged as it adapted.

A low mechanical hum suddenly echoed from the hunters' side.

Gerard Argent lowered a small control device.

"Stimulate aggression."

The monster roared.

Its veins bulged beneath its fur.

Then it charged again—faster than before.

Arthur barely ducked the claw.

The creature's tail slammed into his side.

CRASH.

Arthur flew into a tree.

Wood splintered as his body smashed through it.

Laura shouted.

"ARTHUR!"

Arthur pushed himself up from the broken trunk.

He rolled his shoulder slowly.

"…Okay."

He spat out a bit of blood.

"…that one actually hurt."

The creature rushed again.

This time Derek jumped in.

The young Hale Beta slammed into the creature from the side, claws digging into its shoulder.

The monster grabbed Derek mid-air and threw him like a rag doll.

Derek slammed into the ground with a heavy thud.

" UAGHK-"

Laura attacked next.

She leapt forward, claws flashing.

She slashed across the creature's chest.

Blood sprayed.

But the creature only snarled and backhanded her away.

Even the Hale wolves were struggling.

Arthur stepped forward again.

"Alright."

He cracked his neck.

"My turn."

The creature lunged again.

Arthur ducked low.

He drove a brutal uppercut into the monster's jaw.

Then a kick to its knee.

The creature dropped slightly.

Arthur followed with a spinning elbow to its temple.

The monster roared and slammed its claws downward.

Arthur crossed his arms and blocked.

The impact pushed him three meters back.

The ground beneath his feet cracked.

Across the battlefield, the hunters stared in disbelief.

"He's fighting that thing head-on…"

Another hunter raised a rifle.

"Enough of this."

He fired a dart.

THWIP.

The dart buried itself in Arthur's shoulder.

Laura's eyes widened.

"Arthur!"

"Wolfsbane toxin!" a hunter shouted proudly.

Arthur pulled the dart out slowly.

He looked at the liquid dripping from the needle.

"…Poison?"

For a moment, his vision blurred slightly.

His body felt warm.

Then—

The feeling disappeared.

Arthur blinked.

"…That's it?"

He tossed the dart aside.

The hunters froze.

"Impossible."

"That dose could drop an alpha!"

Arthur stretched his arm casually.

Inside his body—

Something ancient stirred.

The Corvinus bloodline responded automatically.

Foreign toxins were identified.

Neutralized.

Adapted to.

Arthur looked at the hunters and shrugged.

"Next time try something stronger."

Up on the ridge—

Gerard Argent stared at Arthur with widening eyes.

"…Silver immunity."

"Rapid healing."

"And now poison resistance."

Kate slowly lowered her scope.

"You're thinking the same thing I am."

Gerard whispered a name long buried in forbidden records.

"…Corvinus."

Below them—

The creature roared again.

Its body swelled with unnatural strength as Gerard pressed another button on the control device.

"Maximum aggression."

The monster's eyes turned blood-red.

Its muscles doubled in size.

Even Derek froze.

"That thing just hit alpha-level strength…"

The creature charged.

Arthur braced himself.

The impact was explosive.

Both of them crashed through several trees as they grappled.

The monster's claws ripped into Arthur's side.

Blood spilled.

But Arthur grabbed its wrist and slammed his forehead into its skull.

CRACK.

They separated.

Arthur wiped blood from his mouth.

Then something strange happened.

Laura suddenly froze.

"…Arthur?"

Derek stared.

Arthur's eyes…

Were changing.

The brown color faded.

Slowly replaced by a deep crimson glow.

At the same time—

His dark hair began losing its color.

Strands of white appeared, spreading like frost.

Arthur himself looked confused.

"…What the hell?"

Inside his chest—

His heartbeat slowed.

it beats louder. as if rejoicing.

the pack hears it, wants to bow down and worship it.

Then synchronized with something deeper.

Something ancient.

A second inheritance awakened within his blood.

but Corvinus gene is amplifying it, strengthening it.

Not from Corvinus.

But from his mother.

The blood of the Lunar Wolf.

(AN: yup, he's a late bloomer. unlike other werewolf newborn that they can transform as long as the fullmoon rises, the situation of MC is a bit different. his bloodline strengthens its host by attempting to devour his other side, the werewolf side. it adapts and making the host pure human with a perks of superspeed, super strength, fast healing, and immunity without transforming into a monster form permanently. it might succeed in the future but this tragedy strikes. he was forced to unleash all of his potential. and one of those potential is his werewolf side, so instead of continuously devouring the wolf side it amplifies it)

A rare werewolf lineage that drew power from the moon itself.

The creature charged again.

Arthur moved.

But this time—

He was faster.

Much faster.

The monster's claw passed through empty air.

Arthur appeared beside it instantly and drove his fist into its stomach.

The impact lifted the seven-foot monster off the ground.

BOOM.

It crashed into the earth like a meteor.

Shockwaves rippled through the forest floor.

Arthur looked at his hands. he was in euphoria

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, this is amazing"

"…Okay, let's enjoy this moment."

He flexed his fingers.

"…that's definitely new."

The creature roared and attacked again.

Arthur stepped forward.

Their fists collided.

But this time—

Arthur didn't move.

The monster did.

It was launched backward across the clearing.

Every hunter stared in horror.

On the ridge—

Gerard's face went pale.

"…Not just Corvinus."

Kate whispered.

"There's something else in him."

High above the battlefield—

Hidden within the shadows of the trees—

The cloaked Guardian watched silently.

His glowing sigil pulsed slowly.

"…Corvinus blood…"

His gaze shifted to Arthur's white hair and crimson eyes.

"…and Lunar wolf inheritance."

The Guardian exhaled slowly.

"A hybrid awakening."

Back on the battlefield— Arthur leap to the monster

then he grabbed the monster by the throat and slammed it into the ground.

"BOOM!!!"

The earth cracked beneath them.

The creature struggled violently.

"ROAAAAARRRRR... AAAGHHA-"

Arthur raised his fist.

But before he could finish the fight—

Gerard raised his hand.

"Deploy it."

Behind the hunters—

A massive armored container was opened.

Inside rested a strange black coffin covered in ancient symbols and mechanical locks.

The hunters stared nervously.

"Sir… are you sure?"

Gerard's voice was ice.

"Yes."

His eyes never left Arthur.

"…Capture the Last Blood."

The coffin slowly began to open.

And whatever was inside—

Made even the hunters step back.
