The Next Day
"Guess what, love? The boss said I can have the whole week off!"
"Wow, really? That's amazing!"
"Say... how about we celebrate tonight?"
"For what, dear?"
"Come on, did you forget already? Sirus is starting school tomorrow—it's his first day!"
'School, huh? I think Dad needs to go to school, cause I'm pretty sure I heard his boss say weekend, not the whole week off.'
Sirus looked up at his father, who beamed with the widest grin. 'Oh well. I pray your boss doesn't kill you. 'He smirked.
'Wait, what? I'm only nine months old, and I'm going to school?'
Sirus blinked up in confused silence.
"Ahh, silly me, how could I forget?" Sasha said, glancing down at Sirus with an awkward smile before turning back to Ethan.
"Let's celebrate with a barbecue! I managed to get Elkheim meat for the occasion!" Ethan grinned proudly at both Sasha and Sirus.
'Elkheim? Is that some kind of deer?' Sirus mused.
"I'll get the firewood ready. You handle the seasoning," Ethan said, nodding to his wife.
"Leave it to me!" Sasha declared, tying a white headband around her head.
"Sirus, watch out—when your mother puts on that headband, you know she's serious!" Ethan laughed heartily.
Sirus eyed the headband with a solemn nod.
Two Hours Later
The Elkheim was ready. Its aroma filled the air.
Fluuu
Fluuu
"Here, Sirus. I cooled it just for you. Eat up—you've got a big day tomorrow."
Sasha gently blew on a piece of meat before handing it to him.
Sirus studied the chunk briefly, then bit into it with ease, his sharp fangs slicing through the tenderness. He gulped it down with a look of pure satisfaction.
'So good... Hmmm... This is amazing—I can't get enough!'
Drooling, he devoured it with a glowing face.
"Hahaha, looks like he loves it! Eat up, Sirus, there's plenty more where that came from!" Ethan beamed, heartened by his son's joy.
'I've never tasted anything like this. I'm definitely eating this again.'
Sirus closed his eyes, savoring each bite like it was a rare treasure.
Twenty Minutes Later
Sirus had drifted off, peacefully sleeping with his head in Sasha's lap.
"Look how happy he is... it's adorable," Sasha whispered, brushing his hair.
"He'll grow into a fine man," Ethan said, pride in his voice.
"Man? No, I'll raise him to be a fine gentleman," Sasha declared, lifting her chin.
Ethan chuckled.
The Next Morning
"Sirus, time to wake up."
Sasha gently stroked his hair and kissed his chubby cheek.
'I'm so tired,' Sirus yawned, blinking up at her.
'Right. Time for school.'
He let out another long yawn, eyes tearing up.
"Come on, let's get you washed up."
Sasha pulled back his blanket and hoisted him onto her shoulder.
Splash
Drip-drip
'Okay! I'm awake, I'm awake!'
Sirus's eyes shot open as cold water hit his face.
"There you go, wide awake now! Let's eat and get ready—you've got a big day ahead!" she chirped, carrying him into the kitchen.
After breakfast, she dressed him and led him outside, holding his small hand.
"Now you be good, Sirus. You might be different from the others, but don't worry. Everything will work out—you'll make lots of new friends."
She smiled down at him.
Sirus nodded and turned his gaze forward. A small building loomed ahead, a large sign bearing the symbol of a book.
'I wonder if this'll be a normal school. I mean, no backpack, so maybe they give out supplies? It's weird going back to school... new parents, a new world. But I'm liking village life. It's peaceful... and I'm getting used to it.'
He squeezed his mother's hand gently.
"Welcome, Mrs. Sasha—and this must be your son, Sirus," greeted a woman at the entrance. She wore a short blue dress with a pink ribbon, her short pink hair just brushing her shoulders. Small horns peeked through her locks.
"Hahaha, yes, this is Sirus." Sasha glanced at the teacher, then down at her son. "Give a wave to your teacher, Sirus."
Sirus waved shyly. The teacher's eyes flicked to his legs.
Sasha bent down, kissed his forehead. "I'll come back to get you—don't be scared. Be a good boy." She smiled and patted his head before stepping back.
"Now, Sirus, follow me. Time to meet your classmates."
The teacher gave him a small smirk as she turned.
'I don't like that smirk.' Sirus thought, eyes narrowing.
"Children, listen up! This is your new classmate, Sirus. Say hi!"
She patted Sirus on the back and went to her desk.
All eyes turned to the doorway. And to his legs.
'What're you staring at? I really don't like it here.'
Sirus frowned, glancing between teacher and students.
Then chaos.
"Whoa! What's up with your legs!?"
"Can I touch them!?"
"What are those? Ew!"
"So cool! I want legs like that!"
"He looks funny, hahaha!"
"Miss, he's scary!"
[Bang]
The teacher slammed her desk.
"Settle down, everyone! Back to your seats. And Sirus can't speak yet, so give him some space."
Sirus blinked.
"I can speak, teacher. But only a l-little" he said with a slight sheepish grin..
She froze mid-writing, turning with a surprised expression before resuming. 'Didn't Sasha say he couldn't even make a sound?'
The students slowly returned to their desks. Sirus walked to a vacant seat beside a girl and sat down silently.
"Now then... let's begin. Today we'll learn the Daemon script—how to read and write it. I need someone to help pass out paper and pencils."
The girl beside Sirus raised her hand.
"Good. Please hand one to each student."
She took the supplies and began moving through the class.
"Now let us begin."
'Let's see what else you're hiding' the teacher thought, glancing back at Sirus.
