Chapter 21 - Blue Eyes

Demetrio and Ezekiel stopped before a grey cave. They exchanged silent glances before stepping inside.

Utter darkness greeted them, yet their vampire eyes saw clearly.

Suddenly, candles around the cave ignited one after another. At the center sat a woman dressed in a white robe.

She was breathtakingly beautiful. Her hair was pure white, matching her pale eyebrows and ghostlike appearance.

"Welcome, vampires," the witch greeted calmly.

"Spare me the greetings and get straight to the point," Ezekiel snapped. He despised witches.

"Always straightforward, Ezekiel," the witch said with a beautiful smile.

"Don't be deceived by her looks," Ezekiel muttered to Demetrio.

"I know," Demetrio replied as they approached her.

"Do not try to outsmart us," Demetrio warned coldly. "You know the consequences."

"I know," the witch repeated, still smiling.

She stretched out her hand."The Book of Mormon."

Demetrio handed the book to her.She opened it to the page where Dario's name was written.

"There are hidden words within this book, Demetrio," she said, lifting her white eyes toward them. "To reveal them, a drop of your blood must fall upon this name."

Ezekiel and Demetrio exchanged glances.

"Are you certain?" Ezekiel asked cautiously.

"Yes. Blood will awaken the hidden writings."

Ezekiel subtly shook his head at Demetrio, signaling distrust.

But Demetrio ignored him,he crouched down and removed a small dagger from his pocket.

"Here," the witch said, pointing at Dario's name.

Demetrio raised the dagger toward his palm and in a flash, he slit the witch's throat instead.

Her eyes widened in shock.Blood gushed from her neck as she collapsed lifelessly onto the ground.

Ezekiel gasped, covering his mouth."What the hell, Demetrio?! Why did you…"

"She was a demon," Demetrio said calmly, wiping blood from his dagger.

He stood and returned the blade to his pocket.

"What do you mean?" Ezekiel asked.

"Look at her."

Ezekiel looked down.

His eyes widened as her skin slowly turned blue, the unmistakable color of a demon.

Behind her lay another body, the real owner of the cave cold as Dead.

"It's Damoness's doing," Ezekiel growled, clenching his fists.

"I know," Demetrio nodded.

"I swear… one day I will kill that woman

with my own hands."

"You have my support," Demetrio said as they walked out of the cave. "And I will be the one to kill Damon himself."

Ezekiel chuckled."Interesting. So you've finally decided to kill Damon. I thought mercy still lived in you."

"They have crossed their boundaries,"

Demetrio replied coldly.

Ezekiel glanced at him."How did you know she wasn't a witch?"

"When I handed her the book," Demetrio said, "her eyes flickered blue for a second before turning white again."

Ezekiel clapped his hands, grinning."A smart and handsome brother I have."

Demetrio chuckled faintly."At least I don't go around marking mates just to drink their blood."

Ezekiel's expression darkened."Do not remind me of that. I'm trying to forget."

"It's unforgettable," Demetrio replied calmly. "The deed is done."

Before leaving the forest, they set the cave ablaze.Flames swallowed the entrance, reducing everything inside to ashes.
