Our boy now confused about himself as an entity of humanity, wondering why over the past few days things he touched kept disappearing and appearing, he couldn't make sense of anything really at this point. He kept getting his jobs and doing them accordingly, till...
"Hey mom, I need to talk to you about something."
Mom in the kitchen clattering dishes together and storing them in the dishwasher to do its job.
"Talk to me my bunny boy."
"Oh, I'm in a hurry right now, I need to get somewhere, when I get back."
"Ok hun."
He left, going for a light evening stroll to the pier. Getting there, to his surprise he met her standing there, watching the waves come and go. Her hair swayed in unison with the wind, her brown fresh hands holding the rails.
"Ahem." he said behind her.
She swayed and looked his way, giving off a cute unique smile when their eyes met.
"Hey Zane." Voice of an angel.
"H-h-hi Yu-u-ki." Of course our apex sovereign would stutter at the sight of a queen.
She giggled. He summoned courage and stood beside her, her feminine hygiene purifying the air, he couldn't smell the ocean anymore. Yeah, he was gone.
"Hi Yuki." he managed to re-say, now bolder. Only that his hand was in his pocket scrolling on his mouse with passion.
"Isn't it beautiful, creation that is." she said.
"I couldn't agree more. I didn't know you were a watcher too."
"Haha, you could say that. I come here when I feel troubled, or unsure of what to do next, or in this case, hit by a news I wasn't expecting."
"I see. I just love nature and its either this spot or the forest opposite our estate."
"You're funny Zane, I'd pick this place too." She smiled and looked at him while he stared keenly at the waves.
"I saw that you and Marcus are representing us again this year at the swimming tournament."
"We're fish." he replied.
"We've been through different stages of school together Zane, and this is the highest conversation we've had." She paused.
"I've always known you were interesting. You may fool everyone else with your ambivert nature, but I've studied you, fifteenth place in a row for six years while I toggle between fourth through sixth. And yesterday you solved a generational equation like it's normal."
"I don't know why I did that, and I'm not the type to outshine when I don't need to, the fame is ok, but the level of responsibility is exhausting to handle."
"Like it or not, I've always looked up to you." She said and looked at him. He looked at her too, eyes locked. Finally noticing her deep brown almond eyes.
"Uhh, thanks." He said, rubbing the back of his head.
*Boom*
An earthquake erupted.
He grabbed her hands and they began running, strange... This wasn't a normal quake. She turned around and looked at the water.
"Zane!!!" He turned around.
"Impossible, what in the world is happening." He carried her in his arms and ran to a safe spot, they separated as she ran back towards her place and Zane ran to his.
"Mom, it's a tsuna-"
He saw his mom radiating a pure purple and white aura around her, her eyes glistening white, Lily behind her looking in awe that her mom had superpowers.
"I'll explain once I get back."
She faded. A few minutes later, their phones stopped blasting alarms of a tsunami and quake. She reappeared, almost as if she teleported, but that wasn't the case. She just transformed into energy at will and went wherever she needed to.
Her children sitting looking at her like she had just saved the world, which she did, but a small part of it.
She sat between them.
"Truth is, your dad never fled."
"What'd you mean?" Zane asked.
"He had to leave to keep us safe, we're a certain type of people called awakened."
They looked confused.
"There's this thing called the eternal force. It's the foundational framework that reality runs on. Humans who synchronize with it gain access to manipulating parts of reality."
"Back up, mom. I don't get it." Lily said.
"I do." Zane added coldly.
"Mum, something weird's been happening to me lately." He took his mom's hand.
One second, she was there, the next second his hand held air.
And no, she didn't transform to energy.
